Georjelis Rujano Capstone "Believe In Hope When There's No Hope"

Posted by Georjelis Rujano in Capstone · Hernandez · Wed on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at 8:41 pm

The question is “How to start a nonprofit?” Not just that but also know the information about what’s happening in Venezuela. These two main topics of inquiry are based on how to go forward with helping the Venezuelan community. As a native, I had the first-hand experience of what’s going on in Venezuela. So coming to the United States I investigated more the backbone of these issues causing a humanitarian crisis in Venezuela. But as I got into the nonprofit world I saw the possibilities of helping not only in Venezuela but in other places around the world. It starts with establishing a mission, goals, and persistence for the nonprofit. I have the primary vision for my nonprofit while I have the research. Now, having done intensive research, many hours planning for fundraisers and networking, I’ve had a budgeting system that I will present to donors. This budget will present based on research for fundraising also evidence for the 990 forms. As for the changes in social distancing, I will be working on professional cards, websites for the non-profit, and merchandise to sell. Since 2018 I’ve been keeping records of fundraisers and the collection of ideas. Now in 2020, I’ve gathered much information about nonprofit development but also receipts of fundraising in school and other events. I’ve also been able to network in Rebel Venture’s Expo and also at an Enterprise. Maintaining a steady place to fundraise but also expand to different environments where I’ll be placing the La Luz De Aurora nonprofit flourish. I want to be able to have a better way to market and have a diverse taste of food in fundraisers.

Q4 Reflection Of Art Creations

Posted by Georjelis Rujano in Advanced Art · Hull · x2 Band on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 12:30 pm
For this quarter I have created very passionate drawing. Starting from figure drawing and getting down the bases of the drawing a body. Next with line drawing it creates stories without picking the pencil and thinking about it. The digital drawing was a new concept for me because I never really thought that you can create art with it. I really like how we combined everything we learn and created to make one whole drawing.
When I think of art I feel like you need to have a lot of passion because it's being patient for realizing all that stress. That's why I love art and being surrounded with amazing, talented artist it motivates me. I also enjoy looking at their creations because I know it was hard work and it was unique.
Like I previously said drawing takes time and having the right tools like different types of pencils for drawings is essential. For example, for value drawing its best if you have HB pencil and then add darkness with HB4 and/or adding layers in your drawing.
This time I had in class I enjoyed even though I didn't use it correctly, I was more worried about other work due the next period or the next day. But when I got home I would spend on my creations for about 30 minutes to free my mind. Also this year I was able to get to know about Ms. Hull more and have conversations on whatever come up to my mind or hers. Even when we had art class in the lunch room and playing with her son for the class period. These times like those you can't take back. I'm really going to miss art class and Ms. Hull!!!  Also an appreciation to my mom for encouraging me through this whole year, it's crazy it's a year. Thank Youu

Final Project Q3&4

Posted by Georjelis Rujano in Advanced Art · Hull · x2 Band on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 11:49 am
Quarter 3 I've created artworks that I'm proud of because I took my time and my skills of coloring. Every art piece took at least 2 classes, especially the eye. I wanted really do good details because the eyes tell a story but I used tricks that I knew and the eraser to create shadows or fading. The next art piece I'm proud is the optical illusion because it was calming and at the end it was satisfying to see. The internet was the best source to create all of the artworks. Also to create shading having different pencils specialized to drawing because it creates the shadin for you and all you do is create layers.
The most important thing that I learned from this quarter was that patience is key when you do art and it also relaxes you so it's a good mix. You can express yourself through colors. For all my artwork I wanted to create things that were different and you know Georjelis made it. So when I created he mandala it was very different and weird because nobody else has done it. And the colors I used connected the some figures in the pictured.

Artist's Statement

Posted by Georjelis Rujano in Advanced Art · Hull · x2 Band on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 12:25 pm

For this quarter I created from recreating a piece of artwork to photo editing. I recreated two types of flower, cherry blossom and a read morning glory flower. In the photo editing I used photos when I went to Venezuela. I got pictures of myself with the background with the sky on top of The Avila mountain in Caracas. I also have a picture of my uncles because they perform for the people, and tourist that go there. The important source is being observant of what you are trying to do because you can’t just do whatever. Well for my experience I need to be observant to recreate something or take a good picture. I used snapseed to edit my pictures, and it’s a very useful app because you can select points in the picture to make it better in that point you picked. Also my phone was a good tool because it has cropping pictures and adjusting brightness.

My preferences is editing pictures to submit a work if you need to take a picture because you can edit the brightness, contraction or anything else. The material I prefer is color pencils and markers because markers are great to mark lines and coloring in with color pencils. I did learn a new technique, using the projector to copy a drawing. It’s the best thing ever because you can be a skilled drawer or not and still us it  it’s so helpful. I didn’t use special tools this quarter but I learn about a eraser that is used to decrease or blend a drawing. The studio time was spent productive even if it wasn’t art, I would be doing work from another class after I was done my artwork.

My important thing happen was communicating with the teacher because if I was communicated with her I wouldn’t been marked late. I try my art pieces  to connect with me some way, the photo editing was about me and my country Venezuela and my uncles that have been there for me and trust. The artwork is from an anime I used to watch and my uncle has a cherry blossom flower tattooed on him so that inspired me. When I chose my own painting I wanted to do something from my childhood so I did Mickey Mouse and the gang when they were babies.

Georjelis' Art Slideshow

Posted by Georjelis Rujano in Advanced Art · Hull · x2 Band on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 10:49 am
In this quarter for advanced art I made multiple art works. I made a fall art hanging, a drawing for a ceiling tile and a self-portrait. When I made my art I had different influences to create it. For the ceiling tile I made it about something important to me and my country is important to me, also to create awareness about the crisis in Venezuela. Compared to the fall hanging I didn't wasn't really prepared and focused but I tried to do something different. I took leafs from the tree in front of my house and with the leafs I took pieces and made it so I can be a pumpkin. I colored over it with fall like colors like red, orange, green, and yellow. Now my self portrait I wanted to do my flaws in my drawing. I know one eye is bigger than the other and one eyebrow is more arched than the other, but a mistake I did was picked a photo that I had makeup on. I could've had a natural face so I can really show my scars.
In the process of making my art I used a various of tools, and techniques. For most of my art works I used pencil to trace and make it like my blueprint. Paint, paint brushes, colored pencils, glue, paper, water was also used throughout. Techniques I learned was that shading is a big part to doing the nose, no harsh lines. Also a really good technique that I've been doing since I was a kid was when you sharpen a color pencil you take a shavings off and use the small pieces of the color pencil and rub it so it can be a soft texture to the art work. When you want to draw a self portrait it good to have different types of pencils. For example, 4B is for harsh lines and bold, 2H, H, and HB are pencils that are from light to dark shades. These drawing pencils are a good tool to use to create a realistic drawing from scratch.
I admit that I wasn't focused in class and I missed a class of art but my passion for art never changed. I will always love art especially coloring. My goal is to be more focused in my work and use every work period like I suppose to. I learned a lot this quarter either from grading, techniques to socially in art class. Also I observed that I'm in a class with artists that are amazing with their art work and they are very inspiring with their work.

My Print Making Experience

This element is called Calcium, the abbreviation is Ca and the atomic number is 20. It is the 5th most abundant element in the earth, it’s compounds is oxygen and water so it’s not found in nature. Metallic calcium was founded by Sir Humphry Davy while he was mixing lime and aluminum. So when he named calcium comes from the latin term calx means lime. Now you can produce pure calcium metal by heating lime and aluminum. The metal reacts with water vapor, oxygen, and nitrogen and it creates a yellow coat of oxide, hydroxide, and nitride. Calcium is not only a chemical element, it’s also a natural vitamin. Raw milk, cooked kale, sardines, yogurt, broccoli, cheese, etc.. is rich in calcium. Calcium helps your bones even your teeth.

When I was making the print my image was to show that calcium comes from milk so I drew a cow. My first ideas was bones or drawing a lot of cows. But I kept it simple just drawing a big adorable cow. I feel like by seeing my print you can know right way that my element is about milk and milk is calcium. If I’m able to do this again I would create more design around the cow, to make it more obvious the message. The part I enjoy the most is I was able peeling the paper of the foam stamp because it was smooth just like permanent tattoos that you put on with water. The paint was smooth on the foam stamp by using the rolling tool, you had to have a small layer on the foam paint to make a nice layer on the paper.

My stamp is my nickname most people call me by, so I am embracing my nickname in my stamp for people to know. I wanted to do my initials for my idea but it wasn’t working because it was difficult to make my letters inside each other and having a negative space. I found my last design because I found examples to guide me in the internet. I can make letters from positive and negative but I got stuck when I had to visualize it so it can show it. It was challenging and I’m still struggling but with more practice.

Negative Space

Negative and positive cut out- Rujano

Negative space is the piece of part you use to cut out the image you are cutting. It like creating the second part of the tree. I found my negative space by knowing that the image I’m doing a cut out off is the other part of the image, so it’s the opposite. It helps the artist by visualizing the opposite space of an image. I feel like it does help when artist sees the negative because you see the other side of the image and shows theirs a lot of ways to see a image.

The Revolution Of Printmaking

Posted by Georjelis Rujano in Art - Freshman · Hull · c2 Band on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at 9:58 pm
Printmaking has been a form of art for centuries and it's not going to stop anytime soon. It allow us to create pictures, words, design anything you can scarve and print it as a picture on a paper or even for t-shirt designs. Printmaking was most  likely used by cavemen as a form to record their stories, even egyptians. I feel like printmaking goes a long time ago before Christ. Then it was used as portable for wars and helped science revolution. It was revolutionary and important because you didn't have to remake whatever master piece you had, it was like a copier you only need the ink to copy the same thing again. Less time wasted for artists, scientists, soldiers.

This is a buddhist elephant and each hand is carrying something different that represents something. There’s a rat in the left bottom corners that can represent somebody stealing. The use of dark spaces is dignifying that it’s a 3 dimensional figure. The design is very detailed.

Reflection of my slide

Posted by Georjelis Rujano in Technology - Freshman · Hull · c1 Band on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 9:05 am

I learned about design with the designs and how they have an impact in your slide with everything you put in, that’s either words, phrases, pictures, etc… And I learned different terms to describe somebodies slide or whatever in the future we are going to do. The changes I made was because I was able to take in the critiques from my peers good and bad to fix my slide. For example the tensions I had with my pictures with the borders of the slide, and balancing the negative and positive balance in my slides with the heavy pictures. I centered my phrase to make it more straight up to view and easily to read, my peers recommended this change and I agree with them. The research was very important so you know how and why you doing what you doing, for example the tension was a common problem and balance with the positive and negative sides. Putting the pictures right so they correlate with the other things on the slide was a big part why we did the research first.

What you see here is the most important and mostly my whole life. Amarillo, azul y rojo the colors of my flag, I represent this flag and myself and my family.

My value of background is white like blank to stand out for understatement of importance inside my life. It represents the priorities in my life, that is me and my family. And the color of my picture is black and white because the black represents of my self-care. Meaning that I need to love myself before I love anyone else and my family is helping me fill the white spaces with love. The space is negative with me and I have to try to be in the positive side with my family, slowly I’m getting there.

The movement of the the flag is representation of the ups and down my native land has been through and still is. It shades because the texture is darkness and all the corruption and struggles people in Venezuela suffer.

My Home Network

Posted by Georjelis Rujano in Technology - Freshman · Hull · c1 Band on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 11:35 am

*explain your L.A.N. Local Area Network - all the devices on your internet connection.

In my house we use the internet all the time. But we use it at the same time so it goes slow.

*reflect on what you learned about networks, did you have an OMG moment that you learned something new and interesting? if now write about what you learned.

OMG made me learn that the pictures you take aren’t private anymore until you share it to somebody because the internet already have it in the cloud and you can’t take it off. And don’t lie because then there’s rumors that can ruin your reputation.

*what would you tell other people that they need to know about having an ISP/Home network?

If you want faster internet have your router in the last floor of your house so the internet could fall down.
