Q4 Artist Statement

Posted by Jamekea Lee in Advanced Art - Hull on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 7:56 am

This quarter was my favorite quarter. I got to do anything I wanted to do. I felt really free this quarter. This quarter we had to do a lot of abstract, like emotion, motion and regular abstract. We also had to do close ups of the Mutter Museum garden, the Rodin Museum landscape and a Rodin Museum close up. I chose to do a grass landscape of the Rodin Museum, a close up of a leaf, and a part of the Mutter Museum. I also did a lot of abstract, I did abstract like every week.

When I first did abstract I did it wrong. I didn't realize that abstract had to be shapes, colors and lines. When I did the abstract emotion I took different pictures and cropped parts of them out. Then I but them together. That wasn't abstract! From that day on I started doing abstract right. My abstract motion is the swirls, the blocks are supposed to be looking like they are moving, and I did another drawing with swirls. My abstract drawings are underneath those pictures. After those pictures I have my close up pictures. I don't really like my close up picture of the Mutter Museum, that's the picture with the bush of plants. It didn't come out the way I wanted it to.

I really liked this quarter because I finally got to express myself the way I wanted to. I didn't try to make my art look like everybody else. My art can't look like everybody else because I'm not as good of a artist as them. I needed to become my own person and that's exactly what I did. I think my art shows how artistic I can be. It shows the true me unlike the other quarters where I tried to be like others.

Mixer's Statement

This quarte I have completed about 5 mixes all long then the previous quarter.

this quarter was one of the hardest for me as a mixer, I had to get my name out there to the public so that way I could start to gain more ground apart from my local sene.I did research on dj's and mixers from other countries such as DJ LOBO, DJ ENUFF,DJ ALEX SENSATION,DJ HULKA, and i cam to the con conclusion that i have to understand the past so that I can enhance my future, so I went threw all my music and mix all of the old thing with a drop of the new things.

For the next quarter I want to continue my research and also do look up on other dj's from Chile and brazil....

Here are the mixes I made this Quarter

Salsa Mix

Dembow Mix

Reggae Mix

Batchata Mix

1-Transpose of song from guitar to piano.Recording for guitar, and piano

2-On soundcloud.com.It is blocked in the school the link will be up first thing once I am home.

3-Opted out to work on music, and present it.

4-I feel that this was the hardest project I've done for myself.Transposing the piano vocal line to guitar was not easy. Also playing piano with the guitar vocal line.Lucky for me I was able to get my hands on some good recording stuff. My work ethic could have been been this quarter I really wanted to do a "KAWS" style art piece, but I gave up mid way thought.I'm not happy with myself on doing that.Overall I'd say I like the song, and am proud of it.

5-Next quarter Ill have to get these songs done much faster, also I would like to go back work on the "kaws" art pieces.

Artist StatementQ4

This quarter, I have improved as an artist. The first project that Olivia and I decided to do (we partner up to create assignments for ourselves that test our artist abilities) was a valentines day inspired project. the only guidelines were having to use 3 different materials, and valentines day related. For my project, I painted cardboard with scenery from Alice in wonderland's queen of hearts army; and then made a three dimentional flower out of layers of newspaper.

Another assignment Olivia and I decided to do was to practice self portraits. I did 2 self portraits, one in charcoal and one in pencil, below are the photos: we used mirrors to find out where our features were to be drawn.

Street art was our third art project and I made a kony 2012 poster for april 20ths cover the night. below is a photo, it was inspired by quotes and facts from the video promotion for the cause.

We also created fashion inspired collages with our own drawings of styles and fashion as well as what inspired the drawings.

the final project olivia and I did was the cieling tiles in Mrs. Hulls classroom.
for the fourth quarter I think I want to pick a single object or thing like a butterfly persay, and have to draw it in every different aspect and method I can think of.
