For my senior project, I decided to do a fashion show, to allowed the SLA community to be apart of it by designing their clothing and showing some skills they have. At first, I did not know where to start. I was confused on how exactly I wanted my capstone to be. Finally, I decided that I wanted each designer to create something that is already made into something new. I wanted the designers to also choose who they want as their models, and what designs they want their models to have. Everyone is not perfect, some people wants to do something once in a lifetime, but they cannot because no one has given them a chance. I felt as though having anyone in my show and as my designer was fine with me. It is hard to be something you want in life when there is no one out there who is willing to help you or give you a chance. Even though I may not be the best at speaking or writing, SLA choose to give me a chance as a student, which made me who I am today. Everything I have learned, I learned it from my SLA family. Therefore, everyone has a passion for something but may not be good at it, so I was actually looking for people like that. Also, I did not want any discrimination towards anyone, so I did not do any tryouts or pick and choose people. As the week went by, I changed up a few things because I came up with new ideas, I needed the SLA community to help me donate clothes, shoes etc., or anything they did not want. The next week, I more and more about how exactly am I going to do this in so little time. I watched Youtube fashion shows and read more articles on how to create clothing, for example cutting sewing and even styles that I thought were cute. After weeks of researching, I found 5 designers who were interested in being a part of my capstone. I told them exactly how I was confused on what to do exactly but I will soon figure things out. So with the help of the SLA community, I was able to get two big bins of clothes and other things. I showed my designer some ideas I learned from researching, and how I wanted them to present their designs.

Each week I changed my capstone, or just made it better with some new ideas. Since I wanted it to be a creating new styles from old style I asked my SLA community to help me by donating clothes they did not want. After, I asked the designers to choose five models to model their clothing. Also, they should sketch out their designs for me. Afterwards, I let the designers buy fabrics and colors for their designer, some of them wanted to sew new clothing but did not in the end. Since it was all about the designers, I then thought of a new idea again. I decided to have five themes for the fashion show since there were five designers. Each designer made two outfits per model. As the process went on, a lot of things changed. Some people were not coming during the week to work on their clothing. Some of them were not able to sew with the sewing machine. Also, one of my of my designers dropped out. At first I wanted to freak out and cry, however I did not because I learned that it would not solve the problem and the show was in a week. So, I decided to create a theme to fill in for the designer that dropped out. I asked a teacher to teach me how to sew. I learned how to sew and dip dye in two to three days time, then I helped some of the designers who needed more time on sewing. Along with this, I asked some of friends from CHAD high school to come in to help because they were the experts at it. The week for the show, I taught the models how to walk, asked the camera crew to record for the show and got the DJ, makeup, performers, all that I needed. Overall, at the end of the day, my show went well, because everyone that I asked to help me did their part, and I made sure everything was set up correctly. A lot of the people in the SLA community helped the show to be great, so without my designers and them, the show would not have happened.

I am most proud of myself, I really had no idea how to start at first but I just know I needed to start, so as weeks went by, I came up with more and more ideas for the designers and i never depended on anything. I always have a back up for just in case. I learned a lot of things threw out this process, I never knew anything about sewing clothes or cutting patterns for the clothes before sewing the clothes. I also learn that teamwork is the most valuable thing you need to a fashion show. But if I had the chance to do it all over again, I would start earlier on plaining things, instead of waiting, I would work with the models for a long time instead of waiting the week of the show. SLA is a better place because I allowed some of my following SLA students to show their talents or got the chance to do something they always wanted to do but never got the chance to do it. Maybe, it change some people lives, some of them may want to become a model or have more confident in performing now. Also, the diversity I made the show to have, everyone felt comfortable with what they was representing, each styles represents something and I feel really good that I was able to make some people feel confident of what they do.

My specific topic is fashion club/charity. I have always wanted to help out a homeless settler but never knew how. However, since I love fashion and creating new style throughout people's everyday lifestyle I decided that i should have a club where other kids who enjoys fashion and wants to help in my fashion club to create new clothes from old clothes and at the end of the club we would have a fashion show and sell off the clothes then donates the money for a good cost.My goal is to get 200-300 people to come and watch the show, I honestly can not estimate if it’s going to be more SLA students or outside to come see the show. However, it’s most likely to be more depending on the promotion of the event. There will be 20 SLA models and 5 SLA designers. 5-7 SLA performers and 1-3 outside of SLA members who will also be performing. Fashion club/clarity!. I've decided  to establish a club at SLA for kids who enjoin fashion and willing to help in my fashion club. Creating new clothing from old clothes, by the designers from the SLA community and some other performers. At the end of the club, hopefully, have a fashion show and the money will be donated to "Fairy Godmother's. By doing this project I hope to learn how hard you have to earn/work for something in life. Because my mom always tell me how hard things are but I can’t never relate to any of them due to the fact that she and my dad spoils me and now I am for once doing something on my own and it has to go right.

Bellis, Mary. "The History Of Clothing." About.com Inventors. Mary Bellis, 2 Mar. 2006. Web. 01 Feb. 2013.  484-772-0155

I pick this source because it talks about the history of clothing. Also, ways they are created and some of the things they use to get the fabric they are looking for. For example this article tell you about the first clothes that were made from natural things, such as animal skin, fur etc. This would help me to know which clothes to sew or glue onto each other or the value of a certain fabric. Some fabric of animals that are very hard to find therefore the craft and fabrics stores sell them very expensive and I wouldn't want to waste it by making a mistake.

Kuronyi, Anne. "Welcom/e to Our Online Thrift Store." The Attic. The Attic Bethlehem, 7 Apr. 2008. Web. 01 Feb. 2013.

This is need for the importance of thrift store and how it could be cheap because of what we are doing. Also, the it's clothing that is already worn or made that would be created into something new. For example a sweater could be very old and one of our fashion designer could create a newer style into it.

Kaufman, Robert. "Knit Fabric." - Discount. Amy Butler, 5 Apr. 2003. Web. 01 Feb. 2013.

This site is useful because it tell me the difference between these fabric. The culture and why is certain fabric is being used with another type of fabric. I have learned that not all sewing machine are used for all fabric that is something useful I think I needed to know. Because if I wanted to sew a certain fabric on a sewing machine that isn't built to sew a thin line fabric and that fabric could be ruin.

Basualdo, Carlos. "Philadelphia Museum of Art - On View." Philadelphia Museum of Art - On View. Philadelphia Museum of Art, 12 Oct. 2012. Web. 21 Jan. 2013.

This site talks about how dancing affect some people in a way, because some people uses dance to communicate in certain part of the world. For example, in one of West African country, Liberia, there a village called Nieba. In this village there’s a dance performed called the Niemba dance and this dance is performed by mostly women. The communication in this dance is showing the “obedience” of a womanhood. Waking up in the morning going to the market and gathering food and cleaning around the house then prepare food for you and your family. Also I have actually performed this dance and I did the farming one, going to the farm, cutting crops and putting it into the pot to bring it home. The way they communication is acknowledged is by the drums, the drummer is going to play a certain beat and that is when you should do another move or how to start moving.

"Silk Fabric Information." Fabric Information: Silk, History of Silk. NY FASHION CENTER FABRICS, n.d. Web. 01 Feb. 2013.

This would be use to help me take more care of this fabric because as we all know it a very hard to find the correct one. Also, the value of fabric and how it could be created into something really valuable. Another reason this is useful is, a lot of clothing is created from silk nowadays therefore we have to be careful with it.

"Teen Vogue — Fashion Starts Here | TeenVogue.com." Teenvogue Content. N.p., n.d. Web. 31 Jan. 2013.

I am using this site to help me understand how different outfit could be worn base on the season. Some colors that you could wear in the winter you wouldn’t wear in the summertime due the “fashion rules”. Some people actually follow some of these rules and obey by them. Also, this site allows me to view options styles that some of my designer could use or their theme.

"Celebrity Engagement Rings." ELLE. N.p., n.d. Web. 01 Feb. 2013.

Some people wear the most expensive clothing that they think are the worth, when deep down someone could create the same outfit for less money. Also the makeup, this gives easy ways to put makeup on for a starter. Not everyone likes to wear make up and this site could tell us about what things to use to avoid this matter.

"The 25 Best Men's Style Blogs Right Now." Men's Style: Men's Fashion, Shopping, & Streetwear Guide. N.p., n.d. Web. 01 Feb. 2013.

This is useful for the blog we are also creating for the fashion process. For example we would have “ rating and best outfits/ week”. Also, shows the improvement from what the designers did that is similar. Compare their outfits and let the SLA kids rate them, so that way we would know what we need to change and add or remove. Because after all it’s the audience view we are trying to get.

This source is a book about the history of American Fashion. This book gives information of many different years in American History that has anything to do with fashion. I will use this source in my Capstone for the history section of my online fashion magazine. On my online magazine, there will be a history section where viewers can learn different things about fashion in the past.

Annotation: The importance of the fashion why it is the way they are. How to make the models feels in their zone and it has different examples that allows us try our own on the website. Real designers perspective on clothing.

"Teen Vogue — Fashion Starts Here | TeenVogue.com." Teenvogue Content. N.p., n.d. Web. 31 Jan. 2013.

Annotation: This source is website called TeenVogue.com. Since there’s a lot teen we are working with, it is best that we try to make them feel comfortable towards what they are wearing. Some people may not like to show their body parts as much as other people so the designers have to create clothing that best describes them in a way the models will feel comfortable with their body. Therefore this site helps me to know more about teens.

"The Great 90s." 90s Fashion. N.p., n.d. Web. 31 Jan. 2013.

This site is actually one of the best cite that is going to help us. One of my designer theme is 80’s 90’s so she could learn more about the clothing they used to wear. I could also know the type of fabric to buy and accessories they need to need on. They even shows the sketches of how to designs some of the clothing and how to used the materials.

DELEON, JIAN. "The 80 Greatest '80s Fashion Trends." Complex.com. Complex Media, 10 Dec. 2012. Web. 01 Feb. 2013.

Annotation: This a similar cite to the other one. However, this one shows more clothing and shoes. So in other words the entire outfit. Also, much more of ideas to get more idea of the theme.

"We Want You To Show Us Your Red!" Fashion Trends, Styles, Celebrity Fashion, and Beauty. N.p., n.d. Web. 01 Feb. 2013.

This would help us with the coloring and the idea of which fabric looks nice.

Rugeiatu cook book

Posted by Rugeiatu Bah in Science and Society - Best on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 9:47 pm

Time : 1 hour

Materials :

Pot

Bowls

Solve

Knife

Cooking spoon

Ingredients

1-2 8oz pack of frozen cassava leaf. ( Get this from an local Africa market)

1 smoked chopped Turkey

Raw cropped chicken

Bonely (dry fish )

1/2 regular drinking cup of palm oil

1 tea spoon black peppers

2 tea spoon salt

1 onion chopped

1 sweet pepper

2-4 maggi

6 quarts of water in cups

4-6 HOT peppers

1) Add 6 quarts of water in cups in a big cook pot than add the chicken. Boil the chickens  for about 30 minutes. ( since the chicken is raw it would be best if it bowls by itself than add the rest of the meat later. This way the rest of the mat wouldn't be too over cooked.

2) After 30 minutes, add 1/2 tea spoon of salt and black peppers with 2 maggi.

3) Add the turkey, dry fish

4) Now wait for about 5-10 minutes , before adding the 1-2 8 oz pack of frozen cassava leaf ( It’s does not matter wether or not the cassava leafs are frozen. ). Cover the pot.

5) Since in this case the cassava are frozen, wait for 10-15 before opening the pot to see wether or not the cassava leaf melt.

6) If the cassava is melt and the cooking spoon is able to stir the soup without it being stuck through the cassava leafs, you can now add the sweet peppers, onion.

4-6 HOT peppers. ( blend the peppers, onions and sweet peppers together before adding)

7) Close the pot for about 15 minutes so the cassava can cook with the rest of the other things that in there and the spice that were added to it, This way the cassava leaf would have the taste of the spice.

8) After 15 minutes is over, stir the soup and taste it, if there’s not enough spice or season add 2 more maggi to the soup, or if it needs a bit more season ass 1 more. However, if the spice and seasoning are over, add 1 cup of water, this way it would make the soup less seasoning. But if the season and spice are not too salty or less salt you are good.

9) Now, after completing step 8, cover the soup for another 5-10minutes, in this process lower the solve a bit .

10) Open the pot and stir the soup, this will proven the soup from burning. Taste the soup again, to check if the seasoning is not too much.

11) After tasting, add 1/2 cup of palm red to the soup, ( make sure you are careful while adding, if you are making a smaller dish than this add a smaller amount than this and it you a person that like a lot of oil in your cooking add more oil. Stir for about 20 seconds.

12) Close the pot and leave the solve on for another 5-10 minuets so the palm oil could reach everywhere in the soup and also get the spice.

13) After 10 minutes, open the pot and taste the soup, if you like how it taste, turn the solve off and you are now done. But if you do not like the taste of the soup, you can add more spice o add more water to take the spice out.

14) In this case, we love the way it taste, therefore we are done cooking.

Analysis

Cassava leaf is a common soup that is originally from an West African country, Liberia. Many people love the taste of it and there’s so many ways you can make it. Sometimes, some people like their cassava leaf bitter, so they add a leaf to it and this leaf is call (feva leaf). It makes the cassava leaf make like a stronger taste than it usually have. Also the leaf is healthy for you, so some people like to eat it with the cassava. Cassava leaf is leafs from the Cassava that is planted, and before the cassava comes out of the ground or in a stage to ready, there’s leaf that is on the stems.

Other things that can be added to the cassava could be processed, depending where you are living. Whenever my mother used to make this dish back in Liberia, everything in the soup were whole, because people planted them and have farms where their crops and animals would grow until it's ready to be eating. Since we are not in Africa, the chicken and turkey could be a processed animals and this can be the only “unhealthy” nutritions that is in the soup. The rest of the ingredient are offers planted unit fulling growth. We brought our ingredient from our local African market, which makes this dish expensive, even in a restaurant. The reason is, like I said before in West Africa, Liberia there isn’t a lot of chemicals or resources that able to make our crops grow faster than usually or the animals don't grow as big than it's time period so people have to wait until their products are fully ready to eat or sell.
The African markets buy goods from business women and men who export goods to America from Africa to sell in america because most Africans don't like the way american process their products. Therefore the african food would be more expensive however it's worth it because there’s isn’t “fat” in the products its all nurture and “healthy”.  For example cassava could be cause to cure some virus in west Africa, such as chicken pots. And the cassava leafs that is growing here probably wouldn’t because they're would be chemicals added to it and in Africa there wouldn’t be.
I Personally experience this when I had chicken pots , the raw cassava in the village when I went to go and visited my grand mother. Since we were in the village there wasn’t a doctor there so they couldn't easily give me shot or something to cure it quickly as the once in the city. The way I was cure , my grand ma would grind the raw cassava leaf  and rub it on my body and after some days it went away. If I try that with a cassava that is growing in america, it wouldn’t work because there’s other chemical being added to it therefore it change the entire health of the leaf and when people eat it it give you fat because it’s not naturally grown .

Reflection

This unit I learned a lot about process food and whole food. Which allows me to understands the importances of healthy food and “unhealthily” food. Depending on where you live and how you are used to eating, effects your diet. Since I am used to eating mostly African food and whole food, my body doesn’t over load or gain a lot of weight over the year. However, since I started to eat junk and processed food my body started to change overtime and I felt heavy than before. Most food companies in america makes their foods with chemicals, this way they would make more money and save more time. Eating African food,  that are whole food doesn’t not helps my body to gain weight, also I would rather eat african food than most food in America. Due to my lifestyle as an american now, I sometimes go out to eat with my friends, my family and most other Africans families does not go out to eat, no matter what occasion it is. There’s always a home cooked meal and the indigents are mostly whole food depending what they are cooking. The food in america creates more obese and over weighted people , the people themselves knows that the food isn’t good for the body, however, since it is cheap and America is a hard country to live in taking care of families is hard to eat “healthy”. This make people to just keeps buying the “unhealthy” food that is surrounding them, not only that is is cheap, they grew up eating these food therefore they can not help but to eat these food on a day by day .

¡Hola! Me llamo Rugeiatu, ( Ru - Gei- A- Tu).

In today’s world the patriot act is still needed to protect us from harm. It has been crucial in fighting the war of crime and terrorism. This law gives us more knowledge on terrorism throughout the world that we will need to prevent future attacks from happening. The Patriot act makes it difficult for terrorist to get ahead of the law.

The law was signed shortly after the September 11th attacks, with little appeal. While this law is in effect we have more intelligence on crime and illegal things that could be potentially harmful.  One of the main duties of this law is to improve the security in the United States of America. The Patriot act prevents international money laundering and the illegal use of the United States financial system. Without this act we would be more vulnerable to threats from around the world.

The main keys of this law is  improving surveillance which is used by investigators to track suspected terrorists also it allow the federal government to attain business records, business could be prosecuted without warrants if they are suspected of fraud. Another Main key is that the united states government can track non-us citizens who are not connected to a terrorism group

The patriot act is benefiting us years later.  A real life example of this working is the death of Osama Bin Laden, through the intelligence that we gathered over a large period of time , helped us find the leader of al-Qaeda , and kill him . In addition,  we are still working on the ways we can gather information throughout the world.

With the passage of the Patriot act, America is safe and secure. The act prevented many attacks from happening, such as the Buffalo Six which was a group who were convicted of providing money and material support to al-Qaeda.   This is one of the many ways that this law has helped us.  Without this law I think that our country would be at more risk for future attacks , and we would basically take a step in the wrong direction , because our country has come a long way in improving the way we live and operate things since 9.11 .

For the quarter fourth, we were assigned to complete each drawings per week. There were a list on Moodle and every week we would be mark with a check if we completed it.  The first week I forgot to draw the art that was assigned however, I on my A game for the future. Each week I had the drawings that was due. For example the 2nd week we had to draw Abstract emotion, I took different prices of quilt and make it into a big quilt.

The first picture is a drawing I drew, this the Abstract motion. Around the actual drawing, there different kind of colors, the reason I decided to used those color were because outside many people see other as mean and bad. Deep down in that person they are nice, kind and all the light colors represent their soft side. Another drawling is the up close flower, the vanes are the up close and they are on the wall and the flowers in the mist of it.

Overall project was what if the Judge that was judging the case died and another judge took his place. In 2012, American citizen realize things were getting old and the segregation wasn't what the Amendments stated. It was time when it was difficult for me to get my thoughts on paper. I really liked the fact that I had to think hard to accomplish this project because when I think about things, I started to understand the point of it and why it’s important.

Some interesting facts I came across was when most African Americans students had to walk 7-10 miles just to get to school they are being forced to attend. Each individual changed history, even though there were some illegal things happening, some people were happy the way African American was being treated. Also it seem like most Whites was okay with the way things were "separated but equal".

I was confused through out the entire process of putting it together and every time I asked someone they would tell me they are confused too. Show examples more of how things should look like and set up work time with you for help.

I would change the time, I wish I had more time, it not even that I didn't use my time wisely but some people just learn differently from others. This project was one of the project that I really needed help with because things just wasn't clicking correctly, but as days went by, I figure out ways and researched more about unclear things and got it done.

Where do you stay?
How old are you ?
Do you like that your native language is Spanish ?
Can you help me ?
      • How do you anticipate your partner will respond to your questions?  I'm hoping that they reply with what I am willing to hear, because of these guys are very rude or busy and they may or may not take this as serious as I am.

      • What are you looking forward to about this conversation? For this conversation to go smooth and interesting, it shouldn't be boring or seem like I'm focusing my partner to help me.

      • What are you nervous about? The way they might take things, when I ask them to say something for me, I hope they help me and not be mean.

How do you anticipate your partner will respond to your questions?
I have no idea towards these questions, because a lot of people I have been asking, reject me and curse at me. However when I find the right person, I think they are going to help me understand and tell me what I need to know. Also conversation is going to go smooth and friendly as I hope.
4.What are you looking forward to about this conversation?
I am really looking forward to a nice and respectful intelligent person that would be able to help me and learn what I have in plan for them.
5.What are you nervous about?
I actually kind of nervous about what they would say to me, since I have asked couple of other people and they reject and behave rude towards me.

Post Conversation

Who did I speak with and why did I choose that person?

I spoke to Pricilla, Pricilla is one of my good friends and she saw that I was in need of her help so she offer to help me accomplish my Spanish goals.
  • What did you learn about them? What did you learn from them?

I learn a lot from her, their music and the way it is similar to the United States. For example  is sometimes hot and cold there same as America. I thought it was always hot in Puerto Rica.

This quarter was a very understanding quarter, meaning, we just created our old art pieces into new art pieces. We drew lots of different arts, however the best of all were the chosen one. Some of the many drawing we accomplish were, we had to draw a Self Portrait using 8 x 8 paper and Self Portrait using 24 X 36 paper and color wheel.   For the color wheel we basically drew a bug circle and painted it with the rainbows colors. However, we started with the three primary colors and mixed two of each to get one color. Example red and green makes green, and now we would mix green and another primary color to get another color for the wheel.

a. What went well? Some of the things that went well were coming with the idea and making it to be creative yet clear. Also we worked together as a group and spilt up the work to get it done quicker and we also helped each other understanding their part of the project.

b. What did not? Some of the things that did not go well were, getting out pictures to be large on the slides and when we upload it. Also to connect the creativities with our ideas we had in mind and that our a audiences would be able to see the message clear.

c. What would you do differently next time? Some of the things we would like to do differently next time are, instead of using what we used to show our numbers on the mountain we could of more pictures and instead of the using the mountain, would could of used something different like hills etc.

d. Specifically comment on the 10 tips for effective infographics –our project wasn’t that creative to have all the 10 tips, however the mining people on the mountain is the notifies the creative’s that is in it because it stand for in OCK the area were very tight and many people had to make their way up by fighting and because of the oil spill it was hard. Our elements of designer were hard because of the image we had in our head kind of turned out the way we wanted it but still not exact, our pictures isn’t large enough and the 10 tips wasn’t in it as much.

For this quarter we had a few more assignments added towards the ones we accomplish last quarter. Some of the few assignment that we had is, Clear Object Drawing: Clear object drawing is a drawing of an clear object. It pretty much self understanding. Choose any clear object, ex. a glass, draw the glass and make sure you get the lighten and correct shadows and shade. The reason of that is because the drawing has to look more realistic comfortable. Another assignment that we had to do was, edit 200 pictures and out of those 200 picture we had to pick out best 5 and edit it on an application named photo shop.
Here is an example of one of my art work. This is the clear object drawing. It's a glass
and the lighten and shade as you could see,
I tried to shadow this picture as much as
I could however, my camera isn't large enough

1-9-12

We have been hiding behind the car in the forest for hours. One guy came and passed by us, our faces turn towards the gates wishing the gate were glass. Every now and then they would have a war amongst themselves trying to figure out whom was getting clone this year. Living on this planet is like; there are no wild animals in the world. However, the town itself, Ugeku, is full of gamers. Our life is controlling by others and ourselves. The different stages we go in every year.
“Stop moving” – Zel
“I’m trying not to,” – I said.
Looking in his blue eye, seeing the fair and pain knowing that we are going to be a part sooner or later. Standing still and waiting for the phones to go off or the lights. Our lights started to blink, everyone was still and praying for their life. We hide for that whole day till dawn came back.
“What do you think that was Zel?” – I asked
“ I have no idea, but what I do know is that we need to be smart, did you see what it did to Alex?”- Zel
“Yes, her body was rip into pieces and none was found afterward.”- I said.
“But we can not stay here for the whole time, we are the only two in this entire plant, I’m scare Donte.”- Zel said.
“You right we need to get going to somewhere safe, I’m sure there’s one out there, we just got to stay together, okay? Stay together!”- I said.
We crawl from underneath the car and sprint down the clone road as fast as we could. My heart pounding fast and fast as each second goes by.  It was as quite as us taking the S.A.T in high school. Zel is one my few guy friends that I grew up with; we knew each other since we was three. Our parents both worked at the same place. Tears came running down my face once I started to think about them, there was no one in the entire planet. At least that ‘s what we thought. It was 8:00pm Zel was trying to figure out why did the car alarm started to go off and the lights break off at 12pm in the afternoon.
“Did you see anything when we was hiding” – Zel said
“No, nothing” – I said, as I moved closer to him.
“Nothing at all?”- Zel said
“Well the afternoon that the Aliens came in town, when we was trying to run away I saw a dog barking at something but it was invisible to us.” – I said
“When your cell phone started to ring when no one was calling and then the door just rap into piece how Alex did.” – Zel
“Yes, it funny how during the day it invisible but at night we could see some of the body parts and whenever it coming, when there’s electrons it goes off, like the car alarm and phone.” I said.
“Yes! You are a genius, doing the day, it’s invisible because the alien is made of electrons and when it’s day time,  you can’t see electrons as much as night. It’s better for us to travel during the night then the day, that way we will be able to see the alien better. Also the lights, any electrical devices can activate when an invisible alien is surrounding us.” – Zel
“Okay so do you have any electrical devices, cell phones, light bulbs, anything.” I said
“No, but let look around.” – Zel
We search around for any more electrical devices, and started to notice the cell phones going off.
“Run!”  - Zel
We ran towards the mall area, and started hiding in between the clothes. There was glass everywhere, our lights were going off and the cell phones kept ringing on it own. We kept quite as it came closer to us, the light bulbs we wore around our neck as a necklace light up and still. My heart pounding, it feel as if my life was over, I hug Zel tight and he did the same, we both cried and I ran to the other side of the room where the glass was.
“Come on, hurrying up Zel.” I said while tear rowing down my face.
As Zel reaches his hand out the Alien rap his body into piece. The glass was another thing that can block the Alien away, just how we invisible to it doing the daytime and how the glass is invisible to them at all times. I cried for hours as I finally realize that I was the winner of the game.

Rugeiatu BMK reflection

How did your group go about making a decision for what to focus on for the project?
My group went about choosing our topic by, saying what we each wanted to do and why and how the idea that we pick might or might not work. Basically the pro and cons towards our ideas. Afterwards we pack the best two out of four then did the pros and cons on it and pick one, which was weekend voting.

-11th grade Essential Question: What is the role of the individual in creating and sustaining change?
The individual in creating and sustaining is , it has to be a good leader step up to the plate and make a change towards the ideas and have proof/events about that idea.

-How did you decide to best relay a message to a national audience with your marketing campaign?  We deciding to create an Ad and an Logo that stands out the most, the logo is the main one that has the messages to our audience.

-How has your understanding of the electoral process and whether or not the US is a democracy evolved during this unit?  My understanding of the electoral process has changed, because before we learned about the voting systems and how the process of voting is organize, Now that I know after this unit is over. I feel as though it is sad the most democracy voters in the US is democracy.

Rugeiatu Bah Overview of Assigned Project

Posted by Rugeiatu Bah in Advanced Art - Hull on Friday, November 4, 2011 at 7:42 am

This quarter you have studied how to draw a clear object of a glass  in a 3D model using art skills.  You learned about the different ways you have to draw the picture depending on where you draw the picture from. The angles matters, because it is what you see, not what you think. I drew this picture using black charcal and a white even sides paper. I started of thinking about the clear object that I wanted to draw, the object that could best fits my skills towards art. I shaded the entire paper light with the charcal. However, I shaded the middle darker and rub it with a paper towel to lightly the shade. I first started with a circle, one on top and one at the bottom. I realize that the object wasn't a circle drawing figure therefore it would be hard to translate the image on the paper. After drawing my model, I beings to transform it, from a 2D model to a 3D model. I drew the light reflection. The parts that are light, I took an erase and erase the top and sides and I added shadows of my object and erase some parts of the object it self to show that the object is a clear drawing.

Immigration Vs. Population on Prezi

  • What surprised you most about this information? The things that surprised me the most was the time period, the major events that took place during those years. I would never thought America went through.  What seemed quite obvious about explaining this data set? The words was really short, They couldn't really fit. When there were major ups or downs in the immigration is was usually do to things we learned in school. What was surprising was some of the reasons for slight changes. The immigrations were over thousands of people, they all came to the United State base on the fact that they needed a new life and American Needed them for workers.

  • Looking at the overall trend and incorporating what you know about the US presently, predict and defend the immigration trend for the next two decades. I think more Immigrants are going to come, however it wouldn't be as much as the past decades, because American is going though hard times now and they wouldn't have a better life here.

  • Describe how you made a decision on how to visually represent the information.  After viewing multiple choices our group found  prezi the most interesting and simple to combine our information.

  • What parts of group work were challenging? Some people wouldn't get their part done on time and they couldn't put it together because we was missing parts.

  • What would you do differently if you had this project to do over? I would have added videos of the older days of immigrants and describe How it felt because I'm also a immigrant, so I could compare this time period toward theirs.

Where I'm From

I'm from a strong world, wars has destroy us, dusty, sandy, people suffering, I go day by day wondering what if?

A reason to why mankind hates his own hometown.

A calm soul, humble and hard working soul

Helpful, happy and fun, Where I'm From? Different

system Been Thur hell still standing on it's two feet,

Where I'm From?

The life of a lonely man, it's own world.

Teddy, Chernoh, Jenneh, Jimmy, Umaru, separated families

Where we from?

Friendly hot and tiredly, rich and fresh, cold air blowing you from head to toe.

Cook dry rice and fish every Saturday for dinner

Attend Mosque every Friday, pray five times a day, fast for months from dawn to sunset.

Rice! The love of our life, for 16 years we have been eating this dish till this day we still loved it.
Went from having someone take care of me to me taking care of myself,
From a 75-80 degrees weather to a 90- 100 degrees weather,

From a two season ,(dry season and raining season)

To a four season (fall, winter, summer, spring)

Where I’m From? We don’t pay bills, our money value more a dollar is worth 50 dollar.

    Who Am I ?

The type the person who just love to dance, chill back , not worrying about other people business but my own,

A lucky girl who came to the united state at the age of 10,

Type of person who will never forget where they came from,

WHY? Because I am From Africa, Born A Rise.

My project is all base on my life, What I was like when I was a child and where I was born, what i use to do and what i want for my future.

I like my book, it's simple and it just facts about me that has pictures of some things I like and it go alone with my story.

If I could change one thing, I'd probably write a little neat and put my picture in color ink and use my time wisely.

It's A Book !

Rugeaitu Bah

1-5-10

Knowing the language doesn’t always means that you’re able to pronounce the words correctly, around the world many people speaks different languages

“Say Street” My friend said in a very snarky tone, “ShhTreek” I attempted to repeat. “No Street” she said. “ShTreet,” I said again you could hear anger building in my throat.

She began to try to coach me again with saying the word she said “Okay say tree”

I again repeated her “Tree.” I could tell she was becoming restless when she said “ Okay now put an S on the beginning of tree.” “Okay, streck,” I Said. “No S-Tree-t” She screamed. “Forget it, I can’t say it right, don’t waist your time trying to help me.” I said in a frustrated monotone voice. “ It’s easy, I mean you know how to speak English so I don’t know why you can’t say “street” right?” She said with a sarcastic voice it seemed as if she was making a mockery out of me. At this point I was very upset and shouted, “ I don’t know why, I just can’t! Bye.” I said

I have had many stages in my life when I would reach a point that silence is all I could muster up, my mouth would shut as if my tongue was like a finger that got slammed in the door, it was throbbing wanting something to come out but it just couldn’t. When I’m around my friends, I “talk black” which is normal for me, I say some words differently then I usually say when I’m around my parents. “Sup Yo” I would say when I’m with my friends and “Hello” I would say when I’m around my friends. My friends say they can hear my accent a little.)

I’m supposed to speak another language by the name of Fula, but I don’t because I never lived with my father, that is his native language. I traveled from my country, Liberia to America because my dad wanted us to move here and establish a new life. He thinks there’s better education and changes in America for us. I Spoke English in my country but it wasn’t the same as the way people speak English in America. My English was so different that, whenever I talked to a person from America, they would have a confused face. Some of the words are the same just when we say those words it then becomes different, “Hello, Oo” that’s what we would say in my language.

When it reaches the time to go back to school, I pray that I won’t mess up when I’m reading aloud in class. I know how to read, but sometimes I get mad at myself because it’s very hard for me to pronounce some words correctly in the way. I listen to how other kids in my classes speak and pronounce words. Their voices don’t have an accent, they don’t sound as if they’re nervous, I don’t hear fear in their voice. In the essay The Women Warrior, (Maxine Hong Kingston), the author describes when her little sister and her had to read in front of their teacher, they were scared that they might mess up. In the story the author was scared when it was her little sister’s turn to read. “She opened her mouth and a voice came out that wasn’t a proper either.” When you know a language, you don’t always know how to pronounce words in that language, the author and her little sister clearly knew or were engage in the English speaking language, but they didn’t know how to say or pronounce some words. It’s very difficult to say some words in a language.

“Class, Please take out the class rules sheet” Mr. Kay Said

I Sat down, looking over the paper and praying in my head that he would not call on me.
“Who wants to read the first paragraph?” –Mr. Kay Said

The other kids raised their hands eagerly ready to read. A lots of kids had already read and it was the time that my heart began to beat extremely fast. I get so nervous it feels like my tongue get stuck between my teeth and the words never come out right when I have to read in front of a large group.  In the Essay, The Women Warrior, By Maxine Hong Kingston, the author describes her reading to her teacher and how she felt, “you could hear the splinter in my voice, bones rubbing jugged against one another.” I always feel exactly the same when I’m reading aloud in class. I let fear take over the fact that I have an accent and I hate the way it sounds when I read. It’s doesn’t sound the same as the other kids when they read in my head it sounds wrong, confusing and people do not understand me.  I get nervous and hate myself because I can’t do anything about it.

Rugeiatu Bah
