Coming from a culturally diverse background one of the recurring themes in my life is how many family and friends have come over time to the U.S. based on preconceived notions. I wanted to create a document that would not only make their lives easier when it comes to adjusting to a new country, providing more insight on what to expect, while simultaneously helping their kids along the way as well by providing stories relatable to different age groups. This document has many layers to it which includes my personal story about adjusting to a new culture given parents who both come from two different countries and backgrounds, explanations of different aspects of culture shock, specific locations and regions as to where a certain group of people is located in the U.S., and the stories of people of different age groups in order to not only help those deciding whether or not to come to the U.S. but what the reality of it all is. One of the most common themes in my document is religion, not only for the educational purposes for those coming here but to create a better understanding of the culture shock. In general, this document is to be a guide for those who are coming from abroad and for anyone else who would like some insight into the lives of immigrants and their stories, while doing this project I learned more about the different obstacles that people face coming to the U.S. and the reasoning behind why they choose to make the big move.

Overhyped Much

Coachella a world renowned desert festival known for its aesthetic and the celebrity buzz. Since the beginning of spring the world is focused on branding one of the largest and well known music festivals. But the reality is it is not known for its content and musical focus but rather the celebrities that go and their posts about it that revolve around drawing in the public with more than 99,000 people that attend per night during the three day weekend. Coachella is overhyped and popular based off of Celebrity buzz which is based off the name they hold.

Coachella is known for being one of the most popular music festivals in the U.S. It is advertised on all forms of social media and media. Not only by celebrities but by other socials. On Dashtwo’s site it states “One of the single biggest music events on the West Coast is upon us. Coachella sold 198,000 tickets last year – and that’s not including the thousands upon thousands of people who left LA to attend the hippest of Coachella parties for the weekend. A lot of celebrities will tweet it, they Instagram it. It goes viral. It’s a great social media tool.” In other words a lot of celebrities and socials are paid to advertise the festival to draw in more attention to the festival the more attention that it is given the more increased amount of ticket sales there are. So in the statement above it clearly states how once the celebrities start to tweet and instagram about Coachella it goes viral. Celebrities present a major influence on how popular Coachella gets and the buzz it gets. Since they not only are featured by magazines when they go but they too are getting more attention. So this draws in more fans who want to go in hope of meeting the celebrity they want to meet.

Not only do the celebrities themselves promote Coachella and make it as successful and popular as it is, but big companies and branded magazines as well. Some of the most popular magazines include: Harper's Bazaar, Elle Magazine, Peoples Magazine, Seventeen Magazine and Cosmopolitan Magazine which are very well known and advertised magazines that feature Coachella Celebrities. They include an entire section in their issues about which celebrities will be attending Coachella in order to draw in more of the attention from the public. The title of Elle Magazine’s cover is “All the Celebrities at 2018 Coachella” then there are multiple pages on the celebrities that are at Coachella currently and this is not only drawing the public in for the festival currently but the upcoming ones in the next years to come. So the public is more infatuated to come in the upcoming years in hopes of meeting certain  celebrities.

Coachella is sponsored by not only world renowned celebrities but youtube personals that are being sponsored by big companies to go to Coachella. This is so that Coachella receives more publicity and fans to attend based off of the Youtubers large fan base. In a recent video uploaded by the ACE family that has a fan base of over 7 million followers they were endorsing or presenting coachella tickets and where to get them cheaper. They explained how they partnered themselves with a ticket company called SeatGeek where Coachella tickets will be cheaper if people use the code provided in the description box below their video posted. They also explained how they too will be at Coachella, meaning that their fans will have the opportunity to meet them by going to this event. In other words, companies are sponsoring youtubers as well for their fame and fan base in order to increase ticket sales. They do this by drawing in the attention of public by appealing to the public that not only will the youtubers themselves will be there but the tickets will be sold for a cheaper price if the given code is used. Moreso, Even youtubers are used for their large fan base in order to endorse Coachella to draw more attention and people.

Coachella is an overhyped event that is endorsed by celebrities and other well known persons. Other name brand companies that are based off of Celebrity Influence play a big role in making Coachella what it is. Since without them meaning the celebrities and the branded magazines a large number of the people who attend Coachella would not. Many of the people that do attend, attend in hope of seeing their favorite celebrity or someone they admire.

Parenting to Deception

Taming of the Shrew and Revenge of the Bridesmaids

When thinking of Taming of the Shrew and Shakespeare we generally associate them with being very ancient and irrelevant but the truth is Shakespeare still lives within our stories and movies even. It only has a modern twist on it based off of the change in generation. Through having more access to not only materials but plots. Even after over a hundred decades you can still find very common themes from Shakespeaker’s Taming of the Shrew in David Kendall’s and Bob Young’s Revenge of the Bridesmaids.

In Taming of the Shrew the father of the very ill- tempered Katherine and Bianca, Baptista is focusing on getting both of his daughters married off to the wealthiest. Revenge of the Bridesmaids is not far off this same ideology, the mother of the “bride” sets her up with a wealthy man a part of the plot due to bankruptcy. Leading to a fake pregnancy that affects names of the play and your movie selection, plus an introduction to the characters you're talking about and their basic situation.

Whether we like to admit or not interference of parents with relationships and or marriage are very clear themes in both the past centuries and our day and age. In all eras, families expect their children to maintain the same levels of wealth when they get married. However, in modern times, audiences do not side with maintaining or having to marry someone because of their wealth… Instead, they expect that… they will marry someone out of having love for them where wealth should not play a role.

“Content you gentlemen. I will compound this strife. 'Tis deeds must win the prize, and he of both that can assure my daughter greatest dower. Shall have my Bianca's love.”

(Act 2, Scene 1, 361- 363)

In Taming of the Shrew in this scene Baptista is expressing his expectations for the suitors for his daughter. So he is stating whoever can offer the most dowry also known as money will be the one to have his daughter. So this clearly presents the interference of parents in courtship, so having to marry someone for wealth instead of love.

Agree to a loveless marriage to maintain family wealth

In other words it is clear to see in this scene that Caitlyn the “bride” is clearly stating to her mother that she is only agreeing to the marriage for her mother and the money since her mother has run through all their money and is going bankrupt. Caitlyn also states very clearly she doesn't mind a loveless marriage as long as e eyervything in the wedding goes her way. In comparison to Taming of the Shrew like Baptista, Caitlyn’s mother is the one in charge of her courtship and she too is only creating this courtship for the money. In this case it is only a minor difference of Caitlyn marrying to maintain the family’s money while Baptista already had enough money he was just going to focus on growing his wealth with the dowry he would receive.

“ Hortensio: I promised we would be contributors

And bear his charge of wooing whatsoe’er

Gremio:And so we will, provided that he win her ”

(Act 1, Scene 2, 218-220)

In Taming of the Shrew Hortensio tells Petruchio that if he marries Katherine and can court her then they meaning the other suitors as well would pay Petruchio for that and so basically this clearly portrays that this is a plot designed to get Katherine out of the way so that they finally could approach Bianca and one of them could marry Bianca, Katherine's younger sister. So in order for Bianca to be courted, Katherine would have to be married off first. So this is where Petruchio comes in to marry Katherine. So the plot revolves around Katherine being courted so the suitors can have access to Bianca. As we can also see this in Revenge of the Bridesmaids that the plot that was designed in Revenge of the Bridesmaids revolved around Caitlyn being able to get to Tony, the “groom” who has the money that Caitlyn’s mother is aspiring for since they themselves have used up all their money. So Caitlyn’s mother creates a plan that includes Caitlyn saying that she’s pregnant so that Tony feels obligated to marry her. In both Taming of the Shrew and Revenge of the Bridesmaids both Petruchio and Caitlyn are used for the needs of the others. Petruchio is used to clear the path for other suitors so they have access to Bianca and Caitlyn is used to get access to tony’s money for her mother. They both are promised awards as well Petruchio is promised money and Caitlyn is promised her perfect wedding. We can clearly see that in both plots that they meaning Katherine and Caitlyn are both being used as a part of a plot that has an interference of the parents and as well as wealth

Everything is not always what we see

In this scene above in Revenge of the Bridesmaids it is very clearly portrayed how Caitlyn was a part of a Plot created by her mother. Where she faked being pregnant by using the urine of one of her bridesmaid’s sister who was pregnant. So the pregnancy would obligate Tony to marry her. Her mother was in charge of this plot so that they would be able to get access to Tony’s money. So as we can also see this consistent pattern in The Taming of the Shrew based off of how the parents want to court their children based off how much wealth the groom has to their name and has to offer.

“Hortensio: And yet I promise thee she shall be rich, And very rich. But thou'rt too much my friend, And I'll not wish thee to see her

Petruchio: And therefore if you know one rich enough to be Petruchio's wife ( as wealth  is burden of my wooing dance )... I come to wive it wealthily in Padua; If wealthily, then happily in Padua.”

(Act 1, Scene 2, 69, 75-77)

In The Taming of the Shrew in the scene above it is a conversation between Hortensio and Petruchio where Hortensio is telling Petruchio of Katherine and how she is wealthy so as a part of their plot they are drawing Petrucio in by highlighting Katherine’s wealth to which Petruchio is very captivated and he responds if you know someone rich enough to be my wife then I will give them happily. So basically the wealth is what plays a bigger role in this case instead of love this is also the very same thing we see in Revenge of the Bridesmaids where Caitlin says she would have not married Tony if it was not for his money and love has nothing to do with it and she never did love him, it was all for the money. So this is a very clear connection between the two pieces where it was all about the wealth and love played no role.

Caught in their own lie

In the clip above it shows Catherine being caught in her own lies that her mother created and she states very clearly that she never loved Tony and it was all for the money and if he didn’t have money then this would have never been a thing. As portrayed above it clearly shows Caitlyn stating that love has nothing to do the with arrangement the arrangement was made for money. So she clearly states that love plays no role the money is why she did it. So in comparison to Taming of the Shrew Petruchio never questions or stops to think of love. It was about the money for him as well.

In the end of it all it is very no matter what the time period parents will always play a role in your courting or relationship especially for reasons of wealth and maintaining it. This is a very clear representation in literature not only from centuries ago but in present day media as well. Both of these texts reflect how interference leads to either a prize or failure depending on who is looking at it, for Katherine she is thrown into a relationship based off of her father's decision and hunger for wealth which causes her to change who she is and for Caitlyn because of her mother's greed for wealth Caitlyn is now shamed by the entire town they both face consequences whether it be mentally or socially. The portrayal in both texts show that the interference of parents in courtship or relationships is what makes the child suffer in the end.

Best Personal Essay Ever- The Strength of Values at its Strongest

Posted by Aysha Siddiquee in English 3 · Pahomov · A Band on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 1:30 pm

The Strength of Values at its Strongest

I follow the scent of turmeric, garlic, tahini, red chilli powder to the kitchen, I spot my dad on the right side of the stove making  roasted tomatoes and kous- kous.  My brother, on the other side of the kitchen counter, mashing the potatoes. My mother and aunts busy themselves on the stove top mixing curry until they get the perfect texture. My uncles preparing the turkey along with my cousins. Soon enough, they all spot me and say, “Are you ready for the ‘Barabsgiving?’ This is my dad's  take on Thanksgiving; the combination of Bengali and  Arabic cuisine.

My mother is from Bangladesh, a place many people don’t even know exists. While my dad is from the land of architecture, the capital of all cars known to mankind. They both come from two very different worlds yet they balance each other out perfectly. Then there's myself, I am a physical and cultural mix ; I am the compromise of both cultures . One with a president and as well as very different political system and as well as culture than the other. Another with Sheikh who has say and control overall, alone.  It all surprisingly works, I am still here in one piece and sane. There differences are what balance me out. The understanding that I have amongst it all is that they aren’t actually that different, their environment and circumstances might have been, but the way they grew up as a family is the one thing that makes them separate but yet so close. My parents are both muslim and find that nothing else is more valuable than family.

I walked through the streets of Abu Dhabi there was freedom, you could dress in any fashion,  but then there is respect, respect towards others, respect towards the culture and respect towards religion. Although there were many others who dressed the way they pleased, which was Americanized, as they call it. I remember their shorts and tank tops . The majority of the people are Muslim, they wear Abayas and or Niqabs, black gown- like clothing that drape their whole body. The niqab which is common amongst females for covering most parts of their faces except for exposing the eyes. Even through the normal 100  degree weather they stay consistent with their traditional and religious values. This is what I see with my mother, no matter what the environment  or circumstance is, she never abandons her religious values.

September 11, a date that will be carved in all of history’s books and works this is also the very same date that will carve into my mothers brain and heart until the day she dies. It was the decision of whether to be safe or abandon her religion. The terrorists who attacked the twin towers were stated to be Muslim “those who wear turbans and hijabs” my mother had to make the decision to walk away from her religion, bow her head and remove her scarf or continue wearing her abaya and hijab and hold her head up high as she did everyday. She wrote in her journal that same night as she did every day the words went as followed.

“This date whether I record it or not will be engraved in my brain forever, many are telling me to loose the hijab and abaya for the sake of my own and my child’s safety, they say I can not walk in  the streets and be looked at the same, life has changed. How can I lose it when losing my hijab and abaya mean losing me, my humanity and who I am? Without these things I will no longer be Romona, wife of Mohammed Ali Siddiquee and Mother of Aysha. If I don’t show respect and hold on to my religion during these times then how will I guide my own daughter and family and set any example, I will be a failure to not only my religion but to my family. Letting go of the hijab and abaya is letting go of me and who I am. So no I will continue wearing my scarf and walking out these same doors holding my head  high, those who committed this horrendous attack are not Muslim, if they were true muslims they could never bring harm to others, they will be punished for their doings they will face tremendous consequences. Putting this scarf down means surrendering and feeding into a false “truth”.

So my mother continued wearing her hijab and never once has she walked out the house without it or feels any remorse, she knows what she is doing she is doing for her religion and herself. Her hijab is what makes her who she is and is a crucial part of her how she was raised and her values.

“Mohammed Ali” Not the world renown boxer but my father. His full name is Mohammed Ali Siddiquee. After 9/11 many people with the name Mohammed were harassed and interrogated since it is a very common Muslim name this however did not impact my father as it did to many others. He was pressured by others a numerous amount of times to change his name to something else since it wasn’t safe and it would make him an easy target. But my father knew a name is one of the most important things that makes a person who they are. It gives them identification and ideas and things to signify them. People hold family titles and as well as accomplishments with their name. To remove a person’s name is to remove their accomplishments and a personality. Making someone who they are. My father's name means more than everything to him, my grandfather name all of his children very carefully each holding a special meaning to him, and my grandfather had recently died only 5 months before 9/11 making the name even more meaningful and special to my father. One of the few things he had left to hold on to from my grandfather. Replacing his name would mean replacing all memories and accomplishments associated with the name and the importance or presence of my grandfather in his life, basically removing a part of him and who he is. His whole life attached to one name.

Changing his name would be stripping him of his identity and what he strived to become his entire life so he stuck to his name and what would come with it.

Both of my parents and their encounters and decisions make me who I am today everything I do, I do for them not out of obligation that they both came to America to provide a life for us, each of their countries individually provided great opportunities but they both knew that in order to live a life with both freedom and opportunity America was the right place. They both sacrificed what was comfortable for them to provide a more opportunistic life. In that kitchen, that day, I realized how we were all from different backgrounds and cultures, but yet, we all shared the same values of family and religion.

They are Selfish

Posted by Aysha Siddiquee in English 3 · Pahomov · A Band on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 1:48 pm

 They  are Selfish

Now more than ever, America tries to keep to itself as a country. However, the impact of third world affairs is more direct than Americans think. 80% of the world’s population resides in third world countries, so conflict in these countries  affects the U.S more than most people know. Third world countries fuel the U.S. with resources, but the U.S. lacks involvement or aid when it comes to third world affairs, especially when it comes to genocides. The U.S> is hurting itself by not helping other third world countries, due to the increase in supporting countries later and increase in refugees coming to the U.S.A.

The U.S.A. is already known for its advancements and being a growing country that is prospering in technology, especially that of its military standings. The U.S. holds the number 1 spot of being the strongest military in the world. The U.S.’s budget for the military is $601 billion, with an active frontline personnel of 1,400,000 people, 8,848 tanks, a total number of 13, 892 air crafts and, 72 submarines (Business Insider). This portrays to the people how their resources are at the top of the line and as well as their power. Despite all this, the U.S. government chooses not to provide any aid when it comes to third world countries. These countries is currently suffering through fall of a whole generation, but the U.S. feels as if it does not affect them due to the simple difference in distance.

It is now September 19, 2017, and another country is currently in the midst of a genocide that half of the world is still oblivious to: the Myanmar genocide. Already, 400,000 people have fled Myanmar for their lives and hundreds are being slaughtered due to having a different set of beliefs than the natives and being a different group of people (ABC news). The helpless are running away to the border of Bangladesh for the smallest bit of aid and shelter, and are being forced to reside in trees as their shelter and cover from the weather and harsh conditions. TheU.S., a country that prospers in wealth and resources, fail to aid them in any way. Worst of all they are not even acknowledging the matter. This shows how the U.S. can overlook a genocide orrefugee crisis with a blink of an eye. The U.S. is not considering the long term consequences that comes along with not helping  Third world countries. The U.S. is one of the largest consumers of third world countries resources. With less than 5 percent of the world’s population, the U.S. uses one-third of the world’s paper, a quarter of the world’s oil, 23 percent of the coal, 27 percent of the aluminum, and 19 percent of the copper ( World Watch) . The U.S.’s  per capita use of energy, metals, minerals, forest products, fish, grains, meat, and even fresh water dwarfs that of people living in the developing world is one of the highest. In other words, the U.S. is in need of a very large share of the third world countries’ resources. The U.S. has no other way of getting a hold of the resources and this shows that the U.S. is nothing without the help and aid of third world countries. Yet, the U.S. can’t reach out and offer the same help they receive. In the future when the U.S. needs help and aid the long term situation presents that the third world countries will not reach out or might even stop supplying the U.S. due to not receiving any help themselves during their time of need.  So the U.S. would not be a functioning country without the resources and help of rhird world countries. The U.S. is powerless without third world countries.
When asked, U.S. residents might say that third world countries have no impact on them because they seem so far away. However, with closer inspection they are the ones that provide the majority of their resources. The U.S.A. is in need of Burma’s petroleum gas, raw sugar and other resources.  Without third world countries they are nothing, third world countries are the ones that provide the U.S. with resources since they are  incapable of producing their own. So they need the help and aid of the third World Countries yet when it comes time to help or give aid to them the U.S. fails.

Can Unity be Defined by a Specific Object or Event?- Aysha Siddiquee

Posted by Aysha Siddiquee in English 2 · Pahomov · E Band on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 12:38 pm

Imagine yourself being stranded on an island in the middle of nowhere with a group of people you’ve never met in your entire life. Trying to keep everyone alive and under control. There is no order on this island since no one listens to anyone, no authority. So what do you do, you find something that gets a hold of everyone's attention. Something that is a collective ideal bringing everyone together. In our society, we have this exact system that is in place, where we use one object or event to bring together a numerous amount of individuals where no one knows anyone. We have multiple groups of people come together in an unknown area only to cooperate with one another based off of a collective belief in the object or event. People are united by a belief, object or idea.

Another example in the  Lord of the Flies is a story about a group of boys on their way to a choir recital whose plane crashes on an island. The boys were disconnected from civilization and had no option but to provide and take care of themselves. They were not associates of each other and were completely new to one another. So it was very hard for them to communicate with one another. Until they found the conch shell. In this scene where they find the conch shell, it states "By the time Ralph finished blowing the conch the platform was crowded. On his left were most of the choir, on his right the larger boys. Who had not known each other before the evacuation; before him small children squatted in the grass" (32). There are many ways to determine what this quote means. The conch shell was the reason that all the boys came together as one and were united. It was as well the reason they all listened to one another. The power of the conch shell is what brought all the boys together, even though they did not know each other. So the Conch shell was what brought all the boys together as a functioning community.

The job of the conch shell was to bring the boys together, this is exactly the role that the Olympic Games have themselves, the purpose of the games is to bring everyone together from every corner of the world, every continent. The games have a major role in our world to unite all the continents. Every year we meet in a different place to indulge ourselves in different cultures as well. The Olympics Games are held every four years, with the Summer and Winter Games alternating by occurring every four years but two years apart. It is an international event in which thousands of athletes from around the world participate in a variety of competitions. So thousands of people that have never met one another come together due to one event. This is what is represented by the 5 rings and 6 colors of the official symbol of the Olympics. The 5 rings are what symbolize the 5 continents and the 6 colors are what appear on all the national flags of the world at this current moment. In the Olympics,  Africa, Asia, America, Australia and Europe are all the continents that come together from all parts of the world to compete. They have no contact with each other in any way or form, yet they still cooperate with one another and make it together. The Olympics are one of the most popular symbols of unity that exist in our world today.

Another example of a  clear representation of the impact that the Conch has on the boys is when it breaks.  In this scene, the power of the conch is portrayed through the text in another perspective. The conch plays a different role, the complete opposite of unity, it shows there being separation and chaos. It states “ I got this to say. You’re acting like a crowd of kids. The booing rose and died again as Piggy lifted the white, magic shell.”(180). In other words, when the Conch wasn’t present in the situation there was chaos and there was no unity. But once the Conch was present again, it established order amongst the boys. So the Conch was the power that made everything sane and orderly. But once the Conch broke the bond and unity between the boys was broken. Everything was in chaos due to the loss of the Conch. The flame that is lit for the Olympic games is what symbolizes the beginning of the games and the nations coming together as one. For the Olympics as the flame goes down, the unity dies down just as if there is no use for the Conch the unity dies down amongst the boys. So the Conch is what holds the boys together as a whole, keeping them all together just as the Olympics do.

In conclusion, in Lord of the Flies, Golding uses the Conch, a symbolic representation, to express the unity of a group of individuals. The Olympics in our present day world is what was represented through the role of the Conch in the Lord of the Flies.  In Lord of the Flies, Golding uses the Conch, a symbolic representation, to express the unity of a group of individuals. But then he also presents how powerful the Conch is based on how once the Conch was broken the individual's bond had broken they too were then separated, everything was in chaos. So the Conch is the symbol of unity for them and the Olympics is the symbol of unity for us. The Olympics are just on a different spectrum for us, since it is on a larger scale.

Hola me llamo Aysha A Siddiquee.

Quiero ayudar a otras personas.

This is the location I chose in chestnut street due to how it is a very visible location where it is a very busy road. So anything that I paint will be seen and capture the attention of the audience immediately whether it be while they are driving or walking. The location is a central location so there are multiple people around to see the work. So this is why I would put my mural here. The mural would be something meaningful to the community to remind them we are a whole.

In the Life of a ¨No¨

Posted by Aysha Siddiquee in English 2 · Pahomov · E Band on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 5:28 pm

In the Life of a ¨No¨

Sweet heart you finally came, you really came, come sit next to me give me your hand I want to tell you some things today.  Why are you looking at me like that,  I know what you’re thinking, but that's not important anymore. No no you will not come here everyday just to watch me wither away slowly. Live life while you can be free. Look at me I am your living example. Physically I have the doctors standing over me watching every single one of my steps, very carefully telling me what I can and can't do. There is an invisible bondage of shackles. All around me from every corner all I hear is “No, that is harmful, no we can’t give you that, no sorry we don’t think that’s possible, NO, NO, NO!!” hearing these words is now a part of my daily routine. They tell me what to eat, do and wear. Even without them I still have the machines watching every one of my moves, from what I’m eating to the calculation of my heart beat.

My last wishes are nothing to them their only job is to keep me “alive”, alive physically but not mentally. The binding words of the doctors ¨no sugar¨ or you will have a fast death no getting up from bed, rest or you might feel weak. Listen to me sweet heart never let anyone tell you what you can and can't do. Your death is already written for you, when you're supposed to die you will die. Those small things that they say no to you for when they say “No, that's too dangerous, No thats gonna hurt” these are the the things in your path that stop you from getting to your bigger goal. Do you want your whole life to be controlled? If you don’t start to follow your dreams and heart now one day you too will be lying on this hospital bed alone, nothing but the orders of the doctors and your relatives controlling the rest of your life or in my case days. I sit and watch the sun as it goes up and then back down, every sunset counting the last of my days. My only movement from sitting up to laying back down, my whole life concealed in four corners of a room and my body connected to a machine, my bed is angled at the right direction so the sun hits my face right at dawn and then once it's gone I am left to stare at those dull blue curtains. I watch life go by and dream only dream in my bed, in my bed of sorrows. It’s as if though they all waited for me to get this weak and old so they could just place me here. Yes your father and your uncles pay for everything but that's not what brings me happiness. Sending me to this dull hospital bed isn’t what is pleasing me. My life consisted of starting out with the rule of my parents then settling down with a family of my own, raising your father and then your grandfather left me, now I sit here alone left with only my thoughts to accompany me, clouding over me and making me realize how it's all too late. Only I can understand how I feel the pain of watching everyone live on running, jumping, dancing, hopping and walking doing what they want while these wires and needles are the only thing binding me to this bedpost. They have my body here but my soul has already died and fled to another world.  Rather than dying a slow awaited stretched out death I wanted to die proud and accomplished. But that is impossible when you have so many restrictions that you are faced with. Even on your deathbed there is no escape you have every eye on you, mourning. These wrinkles and ripples on my skin are here to prove something I am your grandmother and I have seen and experienced a lot in my time, if there is one thing I can tell you with all my heart is to do what you want before it's too late never limit yourself, never let anyone tell you you can’t. Never take No for an answer.

¨Americanos¨

Aysha Siddiquee

Soy yo.

Digital Nation- Reflection: Aysha Siddiquee

1. The tv show that we watched in class was Digital Nation.
2. This show described and gave many examples of how teens and children in Korea were becoming addicted to the internet and how there were institutions created to help them. As well as how laptops are helping students with their education in schools.
3. These shows give you an idea of whats taking place all around the world how other are being affected by the same things we use.
4. I will keep them safe by making sure there is a limit to everything they do online.
5. It's important to talk about internet Safety so they know everything that's out there and how it could affect them so they are aware.
6. To limit the children's internet and as well as occasionally check up on them

I decided to put the stuff that I did on my slide since these are the things that I wrote about in my me magazine. As well as how they describe me very well and what I´m interested in. As well as what others know me for if they´re close to me. As well as how it´s a pretty relevant thing in our society right now, the majority of the people know what it is. I also put a small part of my me magazine on the slide that stood out the most in my story in the me magazine and or what the basic overall summary of the stories in my me magazine are.

1. The video that we watched in class was about Jack a kid that was getting bullied it is also interactive by how once you press certain buttons things can change. It allows you to be interactive.

2. It reminds me of such acts as bullying still takes place in our society and how it can really effect people. There are many forms of bullying as well.

3. Online i'm a middle eastern female an actress and as well a creator of many websites and presentations, I apparently also have a twitter and a school based on me.

4. People see me based on this information a middle eastern Muslim or an Indian actress.

5. The goal of internet trolls is that they make people feel really bad about themselves or just spread

negative energy, they are there to make people be self-conscious and down themselves and think that something is wrong with them.

6. The positive results of online anonymity is that if you ever do something by accident on the internet than no one will know it's you but there's also a negative to that since no one can find out who you are if you've been doing dangerous things or bullying. As well as your history, it is anonymous which makes it harder for the people who need to find you and what you've been looking up. So this is a negative.
