Edwins Slide

When we first assigned the project I did not think much of it. I thought it was was going to be easy and a walk through. When i started my research i learned that there was a lot more to creating a slide than i thought. I read that the colors should be very vibrant to catch your audience’s eye. My first slide was very vibrant but when i looked at it i felt that there were too many colors and images going on and it hurts the eyes to look at. I decided i wanted to subtle withy my slide so that the colors wouldn’t hurt the audiences eyes. I chose a white background to contrast the black and gray images. I edited a photo and changed the filter to black to contrast the white background. I put the picture in the corner to have people’s eyes focus there and then move on to the rest of the slide. I faded the flag in the back so that people can see it but not focus on it too long. I chose black white and gray because i wanted to have the colors to be subtle but still bold. I chose black for the most importants parts because i wanted for it to be the most bold spot.

Life of Zey

I made my slide the way it is because I take great pride in my culture and I wanted to make sure my slide had a lot of clarity in that department. My slide might be simple but it’s  clear. I think my pictures on my slide says a lot and sets up my structure. I didn’t want my slide to be to complicated because I feel like the person who is checking it out would be  to overwhelmed. I’m black so I put black in the background and then all the remaining races in the center so the viewer can know my variety of my races. What inspired me was my love for  basketball and my race.  I had a lot of patience and thought into my slide. I thought how can I get my message across? How will people understand my slide the best way possible? Some things I said what shapes me? I kinda eliminated things that really didn’t shape me as the person I am. I made a quote that really I heard all my life the center of attention because it really was a quote that really changed my perspective of life. “Which is do everything with fire.”

Based on the research I’ve done on slide creations I learned that many element must being incorporated together to have the best of slides. I will start off by explaining the lines, it is very essential to have lines that demonstrate a symmetrical character in what you are doing so people that have visual component of your work. The visual elements include shape, form, value, space, color, texture. Something I learned was that whenever you are trying to show your highlight of your slide make it big and it will add contrast ”Contrast gives you a lot of flexibility with text, backgrounds, and object¨. “You cannot get large enough” and remember that you should play around with physical shapes have fun! and then we have the elements of art which are: rhythm, balance, emphasis, gradation, harmony, variety, and movement. Also play around with repetition “the best story tellers will repeat the same line throughout a story to build  senses of familiarity, of excitement” “Slides are no different”. I made the slide look the way it does because it shows my personality and how I’m in the dark all alone in space with nowhere to go, surrounded in a empty space of darkness. “Make it visual” understood and remembered “One slide one point” Don’t be afraid to tell your visual story over many frames”Empty space” It could be a good thing, take a chance. Let tell you sometimes in life you must take chances so that way you learn from your mistakes. Pay attention to the design of it.I also made this slide look the way it does because it shows the questions people have about the world we live in and if there is any other life out there, because so many people believe it is impossible that we are the only living being because we are only one galaxy out of billions. I was influenced by this decision when I had countless amounts of questions about the universe, the voyager makes me always think about the day it will be found by another civilization and they will get to learn about our languages and lives on earth. I heard that the one language every world in outer space knows is Math and this will be the way we will communicate with the other world if there are any.

I used contrast to make my images and writing stand out. My pictures bleed off the page making it easier to see because they are bigger and your eye travels toward the bigger things first. I used a lot of open space to make it easy on your eyes. There is also not too much information because otherwise it would be too crowded.

Technology Assignment - Slide (1)

What describes me the most ? Am I going for my girly side, or should I pick my athletic side? This is a tough decision because both traits are a big part in my life. My girly side sets the first impression for everyone, which is important. On the other hand, sports is my biggest passion. I love the feeling of being “fit”. For my slide I chose to incorporate both traits.

Black Sparta Management has my name written all over it. This is the boxing gym that I go to. In my “Me Magazine” I wrote a lot about boxing and all the great people I met through boxing. Boxing is a big part of my life, It built me into the person I am today. Boxing taught me to not hold back. For my slide I chose to have have the main focus be “Black Sparta”. I chose the font to be 96 so that the people's eyes immediately go towards it. Black would be the best color because it’s dark so you can see even from long distances and it shows the boldness.

Now for the hint of girliness I decided to set a pink background for “Black Sparta”. I chose to do this because it added color to my slide and added contrast. I didn’t want it to be completely plain because then it wouldn’t be attractive. For a mixture of both traits, on the left, bottom corner I inserted a small picture of a female fighter in the color pink. This way whoever sees my slide can understand what “Black Sparta Management” is. Also next to the image I added a quote so that people would actually read it. Not too long, not too short. In my slide “Management” is placed under “ Black Sparta” just because to me it didn’t look right next to “Black Sparta”. But I made sure to italic it because that way people know that it’s important too, not just a random piece.

  • explain your L.A.N. Local Area Network - all the devices on your internet connection.
I have many devices connected to my L.A.N. First is the modem which sends Fios to the router. The router sends data to all devices connected to my network.
The devices connected to my network are a FireTV and a mac mini which are both connected to the network by ethernet cables. The following devices are connected to wifi. They are a macbook, chromebook, an iPad 3, an iPad mini 2, an iPhone 5s, a kindle, kindle paperwhite, and a bathroom scale.

  • reflect on what you learned about networks, did you have an OMG moment that you learned something new and interesting? if now write about what you learned.
I learned that the internet and wifi are two different things. The internet is brought into the house by fios and that the router transmits the internet to the devices on my network by the ethernet cables and Wifi. My OMG moment was when I realized why the wifi was turned off on the mac mini because it is connected to the network by ethernet cables.

  • what would you tell other people that they need to know about having an ISP/Home network?

I would tell other people that they need to know that wifi and internet are different things. They would also need to know that devices connect in different ways like Wifi and ethernet cables. I would also tell them that if they wanted to use a device far from the router they have to make sure is was wifi since wifi is wireless.

  • explain your L.A.N. Local Area Network - all the devices on your internet connection. I have an xfinity modem, and it has a built in router. The router has two different networks. All of my family's streaming/gaming devices go onto one network, and all of our computers/phones go onto another network.

  • reflect on what you learned about networks, did you have an OMG moment that you learned something new and interesting? I've had a lot of previous knowledge on setting up a L.A.N. before so I knew how my network was set up. Something I found interesting was that wifi connection falls, and I had never known this before this assignment.

  • what would you tell other people that they need to know about having an ISP/Home network? I would tell other people to set their network up so that the connections work for everyone. What I mean by this is if you have multiple networks on your modem you should use them. This will increase efficiency if set up right.

  1. On my internet I have a lot of devices connected. I have a tv, Xbox 1, tablet and 5 cellphones connected. In addition, there are 3 laptops connected.

  2. After the lessons, I did not learn anything super crazy. I am a very tech-lovey person so these things are natural to me.

  3. I would tell people that they should watch who connects to their network, because it will be slow with too many people on your network. Also, to always make sure you pay your bills or it will cut off on you.
