ILP

Posted by Tamir Harper in Ilp - 10Th Grade - Ames - Wed on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 9:05 pm

My ILP is going GREAT! I currently intern at a school in the School District of Philadelphia. I assist the Dean of Students and the Principal on whatever needs to be done in the building. Most days when in the building I am walking the floors and assisting with disciplinary issues.

My other internship is with a political and event consulting firm. While going to this internship I am able to grow my network and work towards my goal of becoming a Public Servant!

Nate's ILP

Nate’s Ilp

I personally think My ILP is going really great. I spend time with my mom learning about her job as an Massagist/Chiropractor, and learn different methods and massages. I always had an interest on my mom’s job because I get to say hello to her clients and it allows her clients to come back into her work of business which increases her income. Usually on some Wednesday when my mom is working, I go around Philadelphia and hand out her business cards and tell her about what she does, having a few clients giving her a call because of me, she was able to grab their interest of getting massages. My best experience for me was probably watching different kind of videos for massaging, there are all types of massages for people who needs a specific and that’s something my mom masters in. The purpose for me to experience that so when some one ever have problems, I would know which type of massage they actually need and they can go to one, It’s part of who I am for helping others.

My ILP

Posted by Paul-Ann Whyte in Ilp - 10Th Grade - Ames - Wed on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 10:27 pm

My ILP is at Central Free Library which is right around the corner from school. I have met a lot of interestign people and helped with various activities. One event that I remember was help setting up Poetry Slam that was held there but was told that a poster that we worked for an hour on was not able tot be used. Luckily we found a loophole. What I think is important about this job is going around the library and making it a place where kids would want to hang out.

I started my ILP last week. I am interning at WXPN the radio station. I met loads of new and interesting people. It was a really fun experience even though the first day I just did some steady office work. I'm looking forward to shadowing the different departments & setting up for events. I can't wait to see what this year brings me!

I don't have an ILP currently, but I might meet up with Jeremy soon, so that's nice.

I DO NOT HAVE AN ILP:

I already met up with Jeremy.
I have to send an email to my friend's dad, who is a musician, who can supervise me recording my music.
This is my first year in SLA, and no one really explained ILPs to me going into the year. I've been playing it by ear since the start, and I am pretty close to having one.

Posted by Taytiana Velazquez-Rivera in Ilp - 10Th Grade - Ames - Wed on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 10:29 am

My ILP is assisting Brenda Richmond, William Mckinleys school councilor. I wanted to do this to work on my communication skills because I want to go into themedical feild of ob/gyn. There is alot of things that can happen here and I wanted to learn how to break news and explain/ warn people to make sure they stay on the right track with their bodies and/or babies.

On September 30th I went to William McKinley Elementry to see if I can do My ILp there with the school councilor. She wanted me to get it approved for/by Jeremy that I can go and she wanted to send her a discription of what SLAs ilp all intitles So she can get it approved by their Principal.

On October 7, after emailing my advisor the previous dayor day of about my IlP whom instructed me to talk to Jeremy. I met With Jermy and He basically wrote a Permission Slip and Emailed her at discription of SLAs ILP and what we do there. After we got that situated. I talked to a young man about his behavier and all

On october 14th, I went to my ILP and helped six eighth graders review their highschool selection sheet/page and helped them eliminated schools they didnt qualify for and recommended ones they did and given them a list of that schoolsrequirements.

I think all went well. I am looking forward to talking to the students and helping them out.
