Applying to college can be a full-time job. National Commitment Day is a big thing that is apart of the new chapter that we are about to begin. All around people are celebrating the next step they are about to take in this new chapter. With our final sale days coming to an end a celebration is well needed. We worked hard for 4 years and to celebrate that growth would be exciting.
For my capstone, I decided to throw a college signing commitment day event. Before I planned this event out I had my internship at Go Believe. Go Believe taught me about advertising, communication, and marketing. Each of these topics helped me create my event. My process included collaborating with the senior class, coming up with activities and promoting my event. Before my event officially happened it was a cross-event that interfere with the original plans for my original event plans for my capstone. I had to get permission from both of my principals for my new event to take place. After I got permission I started to plan out all of my ideas and turned it into what it was. The activities that took place included each of the students standing in front of everyone one by one and saying the school they were attending in the fall and their intended major. After that was played a series of games that helped us enjoy our final days together. We played games like musical chairs, clusters, dance battle, and charades. We even let the underclassmen join in the fun by playing games with them and answering any questions they had about the college process.

The high school experience

I believe when you enter high school your secret won't be a secret anymore.
High school teaches teenagers a lesson. In high school is where we cry laugh and live out our teenage years. I believe that high school is where relationships and friendships start and end. High school is a crazy but fun journey. I know that they we are going to have mistakes , broken friendships , broken relationships but it's all apart of life. Everybody is not your friend. Not everybody is going to like you. ¨ You're not going to fit in¨ ¨ She is so immature¨. Be open to changes. HS really presents you with more options, more viewpoints, more ideas.
Keep your old friends, and make new friends very carefully. They are usually harder classes strict teachers, more classrooms, more friends and more freedom. High school is like a rollercoaster like pms where one day you're happy sad then nervous and scared. It all happens so fast that you forget how to feel. Whatever goes arounds come back around. You thought your dirty little secret was so safe and nobody heard of it . YOU'RE WRONG.
You may never be safe in high school. I can say experience in high school is not forgettable. My high school will be apart of me because it made me. I found my personality and it because more enhanced. In middle school, I had only one group of friends I hung with; but in high school i expanded my social circle and started talking to everybody. I really witnessed myself growing as a person. I was never really shy when I was in middle school, but I was not as vocal. Highschool taught me how to be vocal and express myself and my opinions. I feel comfortable, because of the independence my school gives.  It showed me the blind side of the world I never knew about the world. It showed me to be confident in myself, it showed me that you will never be like anybody else. God made you so you will have to love what he made. I learned to love myself. I learned that your not going to be like everyone else because life is going to be different and we were going to go separate ways. High school can also be a be a traumatic  experience for people or  it can be exciting for people. It´s all different for people. I think high school is a place where people will feel comfortable to come out and finally who they actually are. It might be a difficult transition for some people because they have to go through the things that comes with being LGBT. Identity is a big part of high school. Identity makes you stand out in school and you choose to and its different. I feel comfortable, because of the independence my school gives. We can have our phones out much more, it is more interactive, and it feels like my second home. I like that my school is fun. There is so much more to say, but this an experience i will never forget.

Advanced Essay4 , Catcalling why its not a compliment

Posted by Fatoumata Camara in English 3 · Block/Franz/Taylor-Baranik · E Band on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 1:38 pm
Goal- Out all of the essays we wrote this was my favorite one to write. Catcalling happens in my daily life and it was finally felt good to write about something that attention need to have. My goal for my essay was to get better grammar , the grammar talk helped me understand how to break down sentences. My whole goal was to make my message heard and I think it was.

“ The jawn with the fat ass”

“ Oh who me ?

“ Yeah you”

He must be crazy if he think i'm going to let him touch me.

“I'm good”

“ That's why you was ugly anyway”

“ But you wanted me?”

That’s the number one thing that boys/men say to women who ignore them. We can’t be ugly if you just catcalled us from down the street. Have you ever been catcalled ? Do you love the feeling of the way that boys catcall you.Men catcall very differently . Some whisper, shout , rap , sing etc to get our attention. That's not how you get a female attention. Cat called is a thing that happens repeatedly and a change never happens  because now that it happens every time it's a game to people. Disrespecting woman is not a game.  It should not  happen occasionally because men and women are both equal . We are nothing different than men . To most women living in a sexual harassment environment is apart of their daily routine. I feel hat that the definition of harassment can be interpreted in so many different ways but street harassment is based on fear. I say fear because catcalling is demanding. Many women take catcalling as a threat.  It's just only words but women take this as a threat because it's a hostile action towards people.

“ I didn't want you forreal you was just a chick to hit on”

Most men catcall because they want to boost their self esteem in front of their boys to show that they can get any girls they want. Catcalling is street harassment and violence but because it's not physically hitting or shooting someone people take it as a joke. You are still hurting the person feelings emotionally. Street harassment includes whistling , unwanted comments , and homophobic slurs. People are harassed by many reasons. You can be very pretty and you will be catcalled so they can ¨hit¨ or you  be catcalled because their manz wants to holla. Men has no respect for woman especially because being cat called can be embarrassing. Catcalled are based on sexually comments slurs , stalking and assault. Most women and some men will face gender based on street harassment. It limits people mobility and access them to the public space. Street harassment is a gender form of human rights and violation. Public activism against street harassment has grown since 2000. Across the US laws and punishments were made for street harassers but nothing has change the population got bigger. Woman who is a stranger to you they are most likely to be raped. If humans are incapable of creating just societies, why should people stand up to injustice and violence like street harassment? The society we live in justice is not very important anymore because people are still racist. Racism has impacted the system and it affects a lot of people because of that. A lot of black people doesn’t like to speak up because they either got shot or accused of a crime that they didn’t do. People are tired of being accused of things because of their color. It gets tiring after awhile and thats why nobody ever wants to do help make a change again. Street harassment needs to have a stop because it's teaching our young generation that it's okay to disrespect a woman and that will never be okay. Violence wll never be okay.

My central idea was death and how it impacts people in different ways. Death can either change a person about how they live life and make them love it more or put people in dark places. In my interview I interviewed 2 of my cousins who talked about death and how it can impact a person really quickly. I had a lot of of struggles because I couldnt find a central idea and soundtrap wasnt working. After getting help it all worked out in the end !

Advanced Essay 3 The Division in Society

Posted by Fatoumata Camara in English 3 · Block/Franz/Taylor-Baranik · E Band on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 6:25 pm
Introduction- For my paper my main question was in what ways does society divide people. There are many reasons why education , social class , cultural background etc. I tie all of this into my paper because I wanted to show more the to the topic and make it broader to people. I think I did a good job with my paper I found quotes and sources that supported my argument well.

Essay- Makayla leaned over and whispered ¨ I can't do it anymore I don't belong here¨. Makayla was a  friend in elementary school. Makayla had a rich family  and attended private school all her life. After a while Makayla had to leave private school because her mother couldn't afford it anymore. It was surprising to hear that  rich people can be broke so fast. They had to move out their big house and move into a smaller apartment that her mother could afford. Since Makayla had to leave her house she had to leave her school and attend a public school which was something new to her. I remember the first day she walked in with fancy earrings , fancy shoes and the wrong uniform. We all stared at her because she was not dressed for public school. She sat down in the blue chair and watched the class. After class was over I went over to my introduce myself.

¨”Hi , my name is Fatoumata what's your name ¨?

She glared for a bit and said ¨ Makayla¨

¨ Well nice to meet you Makayla where are you from ?¨

¨ I'm from jersey where all of the nice homes and fancy schools are at. My mom couldn't afford my private school bill if you know what that is ?¨

I stared at her for a while do she think she is better than me because she is white ?

¨ No I don't know what you mean tell me what you mean Makayla.¨

She started to notice that I was getting upset and decided to continued with her story anyway.

¨ I just want to go back I don't belong here at all me or my mom.¨

Was rich people really this selfish , I couldn't believe it.

¨ Are you this selfish Makayla you can't even compare your story to mines its 10x worse¨.

¨ Well of course it's 10x worse you're black it's harder for you¨.

Before I could say a word my teacher came and said ¨ Girls it's time for lunch hurry I need to lock the door¨

I packed up my bags and ran out the classroom so fast. Before I could run down the stairs Makayla stopped me and said ¨ That's not what I meant Fatou¨.

¨ Don't shorten my name rich girl we're not friends and we will never be¨.

¨ Can you just listen to what I have to say please?¨

¨ What do you have to say to say how hard your life is because your mom lost a little bit of money. You have people who don't have any money and you complained about how life is so hard. You haven't seen anything yet.

I thought about what Makayla said. Black people are always categorized as the poor people. Anybody can be poor it does not depend on skin color at all. I had to tell my friends about what Makayla had said because it's been on my mind all day. After weeks went by Makayla still couldn't fit in a ¨dirty school¨ that's what she called it so I helped her fit in into her new school. I taught her that not everything is handed and it's was hard for her to adjust to her new life but she got the hang of it. She always said she wanted success one of her favorite quotes that she always said was  ¨ When I taste success that's when i'll be happy¨. She did taste success and she was happy.

What I think it's really interesting is that it kind of show all of the strength to the lower class identity. There are also costs to being lower class. What wealth, education and higher station in life gives you the freedom to focus on yourself. The author in ¨Our Kids¨ elaborates more about how the rich people live with money and how they act and how poor people have high school degree or less. ¨ Rich parents go to college , poor parents have high school degree or less.  We have brilliant black people who has masters degree and still are in school.  You don't have to be rich to attend college just have to have the mindset and potential. College is an big investment but your brain is even more.

Education plays a big role in the division of society  because now in society it all depends  on your social class if your education meets the standard that your class does. I don't see why this is very important because education is education and it should be available to everybody no matter how much you have . Education is a big part of the division because not all people are educated as much other people are.. Some schools might be dirty because they don't have a lot of resources that they can pay. In rich schools they better have resources that make the school cleaner or have better resources. People who are upper class individual are likely to attend school of higher quantity because of the money that they have. The lower class attend to schools that are not very rich. College is a choice it's not mandatory for you to go. It's hard to have success because it always depends on your culture, money, social etc.

America will always be divided because of cultural background. America always depends on the culture but with the division it's causing people to be separated. Many people heritage affects their opportunities in so many ways because the way america is setup. People are divided because they don't feel welcomed , or they just don't want to be apart of this racist divided world were in. Racism is still a problem that still goes on but we have to live with it because everyone has their own opinion. Cultural background describes the beliefs , background of the individual because it identifies a person background.

People who grow up in lower class neighborhoods as I did will say ¨There's always someone there who will take you somewhere or watch your kid. You just always have to lean to people. Wealthier people don't have to rely on each other as much. People from lower class background are better at reading other people's emotions . They give more and help more and if someone is in need they will always be there.

Advanced Essay 2 -Cultural Literacy

Posted by Fatoumata Camara in English 3 · Block/Franz/Taylor-Baranik · E Band on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 1:38 pm
Introduction- I reached my goal while writing my essay. While writing I put all of my feelings into this paper to show the readers my experiences with code switching , judgement and different versions of english. I never experienced cultural literacy until I transition to high school where my school was very diverse. I always been categorize in a group based on my skin color and the way I talk. Writing about this topic was very emotional to me because it was something that always apart of my life

It was the first day of school. I got dressed in the tacky uniform we bought at Cramers. I went downstairs to get breakfast and waited for my mom to shower and get ready. I waited patiently for my mom and after 30 mins she finally came downstairs. We left the house and got in the car. I was so nervous all I can do was shake the whole time.

¨Fatima why are you shaking?

To go to a new school where you will be judge is such a nightmare. I hate being judged because i'm always categorize in a group. Why can't we just be categorized in the same group?

I got adjusted to the ghetto language. What is ghetto? What is proper? I never understood the both of them because it sounds dumb. I believe we all have different versions of english because we all come from different backgrounds so everyone english is different. Ẅas it there purpose to change our accents? Everybody comes from different backgrounds , culture and customs but we always get judge because we're different. Different is great its unique.

¨Fatima why are you shaking?¨

¨Just scared never been to a school with white people. I'm going to turn white that's what my friends say.¨

She looked at me and didn't say a word so I didn't either. It was silent the whole way to school. We finally arrived to school. Finally I said in my head I just wanted to get out the car.

¨Here’s your lunch money¨

¨Thanks mommy¨

I closed the door and wait for my mom to pull off. Before I could turn around towards the school a group of white girls stares at me.

¨Can I help you ? I replied

¨Why are you here you're not even white.

I stared for a while. I don't even know why I am here My dad can't pay the tuition , I live far away and I'm not even white I'm black . I didn't bother to respond so I walked away from the them and went towards the building. My eyes shifted to the groups of white people I saw I never saw that much of white people in my life before. This wasn't the school for me because I didn't fit in at all. I got attention more than I ever did. My cocoa brown skin is what got the attention  because I didn't look vanilla.

¨What's your name?

¨Fatoumata”

¨Why are you here you're black¨

¨And you're white why can't we both be here¨

I could feel my blood boiling. I went to go sit down with the rest of the class. The teacher walked in her tunic with her black vail. Her skin was very wrinkly like my shirts at home. She noticed me quickly and told me to stand up. I stood up and watched the whole class eyes stare at me.

¨What's your name?¨

¨My name is but lemme tell you how it's like this but people pronounce like this lol

The whole class froze even the teacher. We had the same uniform , same tie and vest just different type of ice cream colors.

¨She speaking ghetto she doesn't belong here

Did I just code switch I asked myself. I thought everyone talked like that or was it just me and my friends. Whenever me and my friends talked it made us feel closer because we understood what one another was talking about. I sat down and never repeated my name again.

¨So tell me black girl do all black people talk like this?

¨Do all white people stink?

¨ So if you want to hurt me talk badly about my language.

¨Why you talk so ghetto?¨

¨Ghetto makes me closer to my friends.¨

To white people ghetto is the black people ¨languages¨.

Me and my friends code switch all of the time because speaking ghetto to someone who speaks the same way makes me feel more closer to them because they understand me.

¨Young lady get out of my classroom the teacher said

¨Me what about him ! He started it

From the look I saw in her eyes I knew she was a racist women. I walked out of the class with my anger at 100%. It was the first day and I got kicked out of class. Nobody wanted to help me find the office so I had to find it myself. I hated it here I just wanted to leave and go far away.

I finally got to the office and waited for the nuns to come and talk to me.

Time past it was about 12 clock. I realized that nobody was in the office so I got up and walked out. I was so hungry that I could eat a pig. The whole school was at the lunch line waiting to get baked mac and cheese with a parfait. Trying to buss in the the lunch line was ridiculous , nobody wanted me to get in so me and the other students waited at the back of the line. After lunch was over school was out. It was only 12:30. I couldn't wait to get out of this place and run to my friend house and tell her about my day while watching Pretty Little Liars. She opened the door and went inside. I sat in my favorite chair with the white fur. We both sat down and told her about everything.

¨Girl all this happen we strolling on them tomorrow¨

I giggled .

¨Do you think we speak ghetto?

¨Śhe looked at me with a stare

¨Its our home it's where we connect.

¨ My mom once said ¨flies don't enter a close mouth. ¨

Never be afraid to show who you really are. Love your skin and the background you come from because that is what makes you as a person. Judging someone only makes you jealous don't judge a book by its cover.

My Unique Insecurity

Posted by Fatoumata Camara in English 3 · Block/Franz/Taylor-Baranik · E Band on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 9:09 pm

‘’ What’s your name ‘’ ? The teacher said ‘’My name is Fatoumata”. This is how it all began in 6th grade. My name was difficult for many people because it was a name that nobody was used to. It was the first day of school I was so excited. I had my navy blue skirt with my attached ribbon , a navy blue shirt and my gold glittery flats. My hair was braided nicely with colorful beads. I was finally in middle school. I get in the car and my dad drives me to school. We stop by dunkin donuts and got breakfast. I gave him a big kiss and I’m off on my way to school. I walk down the steps and go down to the cafeteria. Everyone was there with their parents smiling giving kisses and hugs out to their parents. I was cheesing so hard because I was finally a 6th grader. The breakfast line was so long it was like a herd of cows. I waited in line and finally I got my warm hot pocket. I put my lunch number pin in and went to go find a seat. Every table was crowded. I devoured that hot pocket in seconds , that was the only school food I liked. 2 girls came my way. They were staring at if I were beyonce. They looked and looked and finally said something. I was relieved.

‘’ What’s your name ‘’? ‘’ My name is Fatoumata’’ ‘’ Could you say it again ? ‘’ Fatoumata” ‘’ Fatomatao”? I hated my name so bad. ‘’ What’s so wrong with my name ? ‘’ It’s just a name that sounds weird. ‘’ ‘’ How is it weird ‘’ . I was so upset but I didn’t want to ruin my day with a silly joke like that. I walked up the steps and waited outside my homeroom. The teacher came out the classroom and said ‘’Good Morning students’’ “ Good morning Ms.Shannon we all said. We all walked in the classroom and we all sat down in our little blue chairs with our name on it. Ms. Shannon introduced herself and we played a few games. The name game was next and I was very nervous. I hated the name game it was the worst game that was ever invented. When you’re young you’re mean so much to you but it was the opposite for me. Whenever I say my name people always question , Where are you from ? Where are your family from? Do you speak a different language? These questions get on my nerves so much. I hated to say my name out aloud because the classroom would be so quiet and all the attention would be on me. We would have people in the corner laughing, people sending text messages , people whispering. How could I ever love my name ? I was next I was shaking I wasn’t ready to say my name I was too embarrassed. I was next it was my turn , I got up and the whole class was looking at me. My name is Fat -ou mata. “Your name is really pretty’’. I was so surprised. ‘’ What did you say? ] ‘’ I like your name do you like your name ? ‘’ No I hate my name so bad. ( Bell rings) . ‘’ We will get to the rest of the names tomorrow have a great day’’. I was still in shocked that somebody actually liked my name. ‘’ Hey Fatoumata ‘’ “How is my name so easy for you to say”? ( giggles) “My name is Shakiya by the way and it’s really pretty for a pretty girl like you”. ‘’ Why don’t you like your name? “I wish I could have a name that wasn’t known so I could have been unique just like you.

I wished my mom had gave me a name that was so easy to pronounce or a name that was known. All my life I had to repeat my name about 300 times in a day I hated it so bad. Everybody use to tell me I love your name I just didn’t see anything to like. It was a bunch of letters that people could never get. When I was in middle school people randomly gave me nicknames. Nicknames that cutted my name out of it. I was okay with it in the beginning but then I realize that it wasn’t my name and it wasn’t who I am. I started to realize that I loved my name after a while. I was very insecure about my name because I let people criticism get to me but now it represent who I am and I would never want to change my name ever again. I finally accepted myself and my name it took quite some time. My name was a real challenge to others because it was name that nobody was use to. There’s no a lot of Fatoumata in our world and i’m very happy to be one of them. In my family history i’m the only Fatoumata in the family.

‘’ Fatmaata could you come sit down’’. ( Class laughing) ‘’ Whats funny?’’ ‘’ The teacher pronounces your name way wrong and it was hilarious’’ ‘’ I don’t see anything hilarious it’s a couple of words that she can’t put together’’? ‘’ Ms. Shannon I might not be proud of my name but that’s not how you say it it’s Fatoumata’’ ‘’ Sweetie your name is a name that i’m not familiar with’’ ‘’ Well get familiar with it because I won’t respond to Fat Fat or Mata or Fatou it’s not my name my name is Fatoumata’’. ( Applause) I was shocked .I never cared what people called me only if it wasn’t Fatoumata. That’s when I knew I actually did like my name I just hated that it took people years and years to finally get my name correctly. My name is Fatoumata and i’m very proud to say that’s who I am. I won’t be able to change my name because of the amount. I’m starting to love my name and feeling comfortable with saying my name. Its who I am.

Reacting to Violence

Posted by Fatoumata Camara in English 2 - Pahomov - A on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 11:54 am

Have you ever been in a uncomfortable situation ? Have you ever reacted in violence? For many people, when they are in a uncomfortable situation violence occur. Violence is a behavior involving physical force intended to hurt , damage , or kill someone or something. Uncomfortable situations or fear can turn into turned into an ugly situation with someone getting hurt or killed. This is a everyday thing that happens in our world and nothing is changing. Innocent victims (mostly young black males) are dying and none of them are getting justice. In the united states, U.S police officers killed 776 people in 2015 .  161 of them were men who were unarmed. ”When people encounter a new and dangerous situation, they often aren't sure how to react so they resort to violence”.

The book I read was ‘’Lord of the Flies” by William Golding. Lord of the flies is about a group of young boys who were in a plane crash and landed on a  mysterious island. They went through a tough time trying to look for food and stay together as a team. Unfortunately that doesn't last the group split up because they wanted good leaders. Eventually, they get saved but not all the boys survive . While the boys are on the island they see pigs and they are frighten. So being uncomfortable with pigs roaming around they react to fear by killing the pigs and putting their head on sticks.  ‘’ Kill the pig! Cut his throat ! Kill the pig ! Bash him in!’’. (74-76). This quote is referring to when the boys were on the island and they saw pigs running around, at this point they didn't know what to do. When they said kill the pig and bash him in etc. they picked up the pig and start stabbing it until death occurs. When they were stabbing the pigs, the young boys were yelling and screaming  with the pig's head in their head.  An example of this behavior also takes place in the real world with police officers killing young teens.

Mike brown was a young black man who lived in Ferguson. The police officer that shot brown was Darren Wilson. Darren said he was afraid of Brown because Brown hit him. Darren reacted by pulling his gun out and firing a couple shots at Brown.’’ At this point I'm like why isn't this working this guy is going to kill me so I pulled a third time’’. Darren pulled more than one trigger and that one last trigger was Michael Brown life. According to the news article about Darren testimony  Darren said he didn't mean to kill Mike Brown it was just self defense and he was scared he thought his life would be over if he didn't do what he had to do. . ‘’ I felt that another one of those punches in my face could knock me out or worse,” Wilson said. “I mean it was, he’s obviously bigger than I was and stronger and the, I’ve already taken two to the face and I didn’t think he would, the third one could be fatal if he hit me right ...Or at least unconscious and then who knows what would happen to me after that’’. Darren said he was carrying a mace a baton and a flashlight. He didn't use none of items to attack brown because he said those items would have not saved him from Brown. Ferguson had massive attacks bombing up buildings and attacking police officers.  This real world example is similar to when the boys killed the pigs.

Trayvon Martin was a black man who was shot by a neighborhood watch in Florida. The cause of the shooting was that Zimmerman was suspicious that Martin was doing something suspicious so he followed him. Zimmerman letting his fear get to him he shot him and Martin died at the scene. Zimmerman would not testify because Martin was the aggressor and he was the victim. ‘’ I was trying to save my own life , Martin was the aggressor I was the victim’’. Zimmerman followed Martin in the neighborhood because he was a black young man with a hoodie on coming out of 7/11. According to the news article Zimmerman did not want to testify because he said it's not his fault for Martin to look so suspicious for him to go follow him. Trayvon Martin family wanted justice for their son because he didn't live his life it was to short. Zimmerman had no right to follow their son and automatically put out a weapon.  There was no testimony because Zimmerman did not testify to say he was guilty of killing the 17 year old. People all around the world made rallies and protest for the 17 year old back in 2013.  Zimmerman was charged for manslaughter and aggravated assault.  Zimmerman had no right to follow Martin but he did and Trayvon is now gone and Zimmerman is now roaming  as a free guy.  In the book the boys are free they are not in trouble or anything because they are alone with no supervision.

I compared the lord of the flies to police brutality. Police brutality has gotten out of hand throughout the last couple of years. Lord of the flies is a fiction book but some aspects from the book relates to my thesis. Police officers are in uncomfortable situations and they react with violence and fear.  Lord of the flies was a very funny and interesting book. The reader connected the fear the boys had toward the pigs and the reaction the boys had to some real world problems that occur in our society today , not with pigs but with human beings. Its very hard to get justice for victims because they always use the card self defense. The self defense excuse helps all the murders who killed people. Comparing both of these ideas together they were very similar because they had the same topic about being in uncomfortable situations. Sometimes fear can get out of hand because we don't know what to do so we use violence to make us less scared. I chose this topic because humans react to different things but police brutality is very popular. Humans reactions to different subjects can be different but to police brutality everyone has the same reaction.

Hard work never pays off

Posted by Fatoumata Camara in English 2 - Pahomov - A on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 6:09 am

All I want is more money from my manager. I work 5 days a week with 8 hour shift, even work on the weekends and still get paid 8.25. I go to school for 8 hours then work til 11:30 then have to get home to eat shower and clean then sleep .

(looks up at customer)

‘’Hello how I may help you’’?

‘’You want a 20 pc nugget with small fries’’ ?

‘’Ard your total is $5.25’’

‘’Thank you your number is 323

(looks back at audience)

I am a good employee i’m nice to the customers I give them what they ask for , I give them extra sauce when they need it. I just don’t understand. Mcdonald's is a corny job but like I mean i'm 17 so i'm cool just want money. My employees are some weird ass girls. All I do is go to work get my money and get my grades up at school. These girls be coming to work 1 hour late then be flirting with the customers like OKAY.

‘’Hey Riah”

‘’When is your shift ?

‘’Same.”

‘’ Did the manager give you more money?

‘’ No he didn't give me more money I was just arguing with him. He gave clarissa more money like that's not fair.

‘’ Exactly but i'm about to go on break so I talk to you later

Riah was the only person I really liked at work. She just real blunt and that’s what I like about her.  One time Riah was working on a shift with one of her co-workers who name is Ria and she never comes on time and she decided to take Riah shift and Riah just told her off.

I just got off break and I have only 30 mins left before I clock out.

‘’ I still want that raise’’ I said

( Walking up to the manager)

‘’ What do you mean you can’t ‘’ ?

‘’ If I don’t get a raise then your just going have to lose me’’

( Walking away with anger)

This dumb ass manager don’t wanna give me a raise. I come on time and do what I need to do and he can't give me a raise. Ard bitch.

‘’ Riah I have 10 mins left If Mark doesn't give me no raise i'm blowing this popsicle stand up ‘’

‘’ So serious he can give these bitches all this money but when I ask its I cant’’.

‘’ Jessica , Ria and the rest of her ugly ass group never on time , always flirting like I mean we not in 6th grade we are in 11th grade working at Mcdonalds’’

‘’ I know i'm right all these ass whoopins my momma set me straight’’.

‘’ Its 10:30 my shift is over now it's time for my raise’’

( Walks outside to wait for the manager at his car)

‘’ It's cold ashit outside’’

‘’ Mark Mark you know what I want right ?

‘’ Ok good so let's bring the checks out and give me a raise’’

‘’ All the fuck you keep saying is no all you can say no like the fuck

‘’ Hell no i'm going to get my raise heffa ‘’

( Marks keep talking to Danielle to calm her down while a crazy car is coming)

‘’ MOVE OUT THE WAY!’’ I said

( BOOM)

‘’ Yo mark really dead yo he dead’’

( Cops questioning danielle)

‘’ I would not kill no old head he was boutta die anyway he was like 50

‘’ If I get arrested mark i'm coming after your dead ass’’

( Walking into the cop car)

‘’ I swear I didn't kill the old head I swear’’

‘’ Mark left me a will ?’’

( Reading the will)

‘’ Danielle my vanilla ice cream , I left this will for you because you was my favorite employee which I could marry you but you was 17 and you know I was your old head. On the back of this its a raise of what you wanted.

‘’ Now I feel like a bag of bullshit’’

My werid but cool langauge

Posted by Fatoumata Camara in English 2 - Pahomov - A on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at 8:24 pm

“Fatima are you ready we're about to leave right now.” Mom said .

“K mom I’ll be there in like 2 mins”

We’re going out to eat because my mom was tired from work so were going out to eat at the buffet.

‘’Mom I don't like buffet it's real corny’’.

“Food is food Mom said.”

“Ard mom.”

My mom and dad paid and the waiters took us to our seats

“Hi could I please get a drink ?”

“Sure.” The waiter said

I got up and went to go get my food with my cousins , we all was waiting for the dinner food to come out .

“Yo where the chicken broccoli at?”

“It's over here dummy”  mom said.

“Ard mom you think you cool now’’. I said.

“I am sweetheart now give me a kiss’’Mom said.

I chuckled and gave her a kiss. Whenever i’m out my mom always tell me to give her kiss because she just want to know that i’m going to be safe if she is not directly next to me.

“You need anything else?”  The waiter said.

“Yes could I get a bowl of ice cream?”

“You talking so proper right now?” My sister said.

“Well I have to be proper I can't be acting like I don't have sense.”

“Here your bowl of ice cream sweetie.” waiter said.

“Thanks.”

“I really want more food yo i'm really fat.” I laughed’’.

“Go get some I ain't pay all this money for nuffin.” Mom said.

“Ard mom I heard you like a million times”

I went to go get some food with my sisters and cousins , we kept bringing stacks of food back to table we all just real hungry.

“This shrimp look real good yo.”

I took a couple of plates of food and went to the table. When I dropped my plates of food on the table I went to go get some fortune cookies because I was bored and wanted to read some fortunes.

“We’re going to leave in 20 mins.” Mom said.

“Ard!”  Everyone yell.

I get my last plates together before we leave.

“Yo my mom drawling she not tryna let me take these plates home like in real life hungry.”

“You just had 3 plates.”  My sister said.

“And ima get hungry after so.”

“You real life stupid forreal”’ My sister said’’.

“I'm not, but your  weird I was talking to my mom not you.” I said’’.

Me and my siblings always get into argument all the time but I still love her but I was seriously talking to my mom though.

We got in the car and my mom got a text message saying that we should stop by our family house and that’s what we did. We havent’ seen our family in a long time and we wanted to link up with each other and see how everything was going.

“Wassup cuzz bro I really miss you.’’ My cousin said.

“Yo bro i miss you too dawg.” I said

“Hi everyone how are you guys?” My aunt said

“Hi big girl you're getting bigger and prettier”  Aunt said.

“Aw thanks.” I said

“Yo I hate family gathering they always acting weird.” I said

“Right that's why i'm never around here they weird.”  Cousin said.

“Right here one of them coming now yall betta shut up.”I said

“Hey Auntie!”  Everyone yelled.

“Hey you beautiful people you guys really grew up.’’ Aunt said.

“Yeah we know lol we did.”  Everyone said.

Me and my cousins were all sitting down at the table eating and talking about school and what we wanted to do with our lives. All of us always wanted to be doctors when we were little but then things change after a while and now we all want to be something different well expect me.

‘’Broo I don’t  even wanna finish school but I got goals forreal I want my dad to know even if he can’t  be with me now he can see me in heaven. ‘’Cousin said’’.

‘’Bro we all miss him RIP to Uncle Mohammed but you gotta do this for you finish high school then go to college and get a job and work you really gonna see the hard work paying off. ‘’ I said’’.

‘’You right’’ Cousin said.

‘’I love every single of yall yall really my homies’’ Cousin said.

‘’We love you too’’ I said.

After we had our conservation I started thinking about my life goals of what I wanted to do. I want to be a doctor get my money and help my mom and dad out since they raised me and now it will be my turn. I know I need to bring my grades up graduate high school and college and then be successful. I know my cousin wants to make her dad proud of her all she can do right now is finish school her dad would be so proud of her. My cousin dad was killed from lung cancer on March 14 2015 11:54pm. After that day she was never the same.

‘’ We got food on the table if you guys are  hungry ?’’ My aunt said

‘’ No thank you we just came back from the buffet with my mom not to long ago’’ I said.

‘’ Okay the food will still be there if you become hungry again ‘’ My aunt said.

‘’ Ard thank you’’ I said.

My cousins tell me when i’m with my family I speak proper but when i’m not with them I speak like i’m  from the hood. I laughed because I know it’s true when i’m with my family i’m shy and don’t  speak as much but when i’m with my cousins or friends I talk a lot and i’m not proper i’m like hood talking. I think I talk the same anywhere I go.

‘’ Yo I think i’m boutta leave ‘’ I said

‘’ Yeah cuz she getting ready’’ Cousin said.

‘’ Just hit me up cs I be really missing you dawg’’ I said.

‘’ I gotchuu you know I will love you little cousin’’ Cousin said.

‘’ Love you to big cousin’’ I said as I shed a tear.

After that day my cousin was never the same. It was something going on with her I just couldn’t figure what was it. One day she texted me and said she wanted to be with her dad she just couldn’t take the pain anymore. I talked to her and talked to her and she finally realize that her dad would always be in her heart no matter how far they are from each other.

‘’ Come on baby it’s time to leave’’ Mom said.

‘’ Ard mom i’m outside already at the car’’ I said.

My mom tell her goodbyes  to her family and we get in the car to go back home.

‘’ Mommy I really love you I don’t wanna lose you mom I swear I don’t’’. I said.

‘’ Princess I can’t  say i’m going to be with you forever but I can tell you that you won’t lose now’’.’ She said.

From talking to my cousin it just made me realize a lot , I don’t want to lose my mom or dad at all it will be so hard for me but I know while they are still living now I could make them proud now. Language is different that’s what I learn while writing my story. I have an accent which is where i’m from southwest I don’t have a foreign accent I have a accent of what is talked around me. Many people have accents  but they always think of accents from foreign places.

I love my internship because I get to play with little kids who look at me too much maybe because im new but i do love them and they are great. I just started so I really don't know the kids that well but hopefully I will get to know them before the year is over . What I do with the kids is help them with their work and talk to them or help them read their books that they picked when they have to read for silent reading.

Did Lincoln Free The Slaves ?

Posted by Fatoumata Camara in African American History - Jonas - A on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at 9:19 pm
Lincoln had freed the slaves before the war so he could use them in the war but that wasn't the only reason why Lincoln freed the slaves it was plenty of other reasons why he banned slavery. In the Emancipation Proclamation Lincoln said ‘’ that all persons held as slaves" within the rebellious states "are, and henceforward shall be free’’. The Emancipation Proclamation was all about how slavery was bad and that slavery should just stop because it was wrong.  Why this is matter that Lincoln freed the slaves because slavery was not a good thing at all. Slaves were always beaten , separated from their families ,  and sometimes the women slaves would have got raped by their masters. This all needed to stop because some slaves were dying from starving or just getting beaten all the time that they had to died. When Lincoln passed the Emancipation Proclamation hundred of slaves were happy that they could have lived life that they were living before they captured to be enslaved. Freedom came at last ! the joyful crowd of slaves had said. One of the element that maybe a reader wont notice is the document of the 13th 14th and 15th amendments. Lincoln had thought the only way of freeing the slaves was the abolition and this is where the reconstruction came along because lincoln thought that was the only way when it really wasn't. Lincoln always stated that he was anti-slavery and that slavery was what was tearing the country apart.

Net 2
Net neutrality is a network that is designed by engineers and other people. The interent addict many teens because of the cyberbullying that be going on the internet or just the things that entertained the teens that make them so addict to the interent. I am as a teen that is addict to the internet i can be on it for 8 hours and i used the internet for school to so it will be another 8 hours again. Net neutrality is a internet that is open to the whole world and whenever you have a picture you may think its delete but its not delete at all. A closed internet have restricted to access on certain thing.

Why teens should know about Net neutrality is that internet is a useful thing when you need it for class or homework. But another reason is that women are very addicted to internet. One example is that students task a force to to the study of needs that we need on college campuses . All schools use interent so if people cut the net neutrality students would go crazy and would have to write homework and students will be exhausted writing down all these essays when you can just type it on your computer. Everybody would be so exhausted if we didnt have any interent.

Net neutrality really means that the FCC has proposed that the internet service provider Verizon and Comcast that had access of tiers service. If net neutrality left women and teens mind teens will go so crazy because the internet is where is erased from our screens and and speakers. Having the proposal of the FCC would have the internet to tell our stories and people own words. Justice in the many form of the companies of tools to use. Lets keep the FCC proposed begin

These pictures explain the moves I do when im dancing and it describes my passion of how I like cheerleading and dancing. I used the cheerleading pictures to explain the move I used when im up at cheer offs and ready to cheer. I used the dancing pictures to explain of the moves I used. My title is large bolded text so it can bring the slide out and catch  a person eye.

2. the lan network is all the is its goes in my living room and my whole family is connect too it and its connect too the tv not the phone cable.

3. when i learned about the internet i didnt have no omg moment because i learned this is in my 6th grade tech class but i had a omg moment when i learned about the videos of the internet like whats in the internet.

4. what i would do is tell them too be careful with the internet because whatever you write or post pictures on the internet it can never be deleted so it will be there for ever and we have hackers too so it wont be good for people.
