Summer Reading Recommendation 2012

Posted by Michelle Torelli in English 3 - Rami on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 11:48 pm

For those of you interested in the secrets of the world involving physics you will absolutely love this book, "Black Bodies and Quantum Cats" written by Jennifer Ouellette! Inside this book there are many analyses of everyday movies and events that we see everyday but do not take the consideration to examine deeper meanings within them. When you read this book there is no choice other than to keep flipping the pages and continue reading. I highly recommend this book to not only physic's lovers but also to those who want to learn things "outside the box". Furthermore, this very book will change the way you view life as it goes into detail from large concepts to minuscule details of the world around us.

Summer Reading Recommendation

The Kidnapping of Christina Lattimore by Joan Lowery Nixon

This story is very suspenseful with twists and turns all over the place. When you think things have already been at its worst and it'll get better, something else happens. The suspense in this story is never dull and you never know when one of the characters is really as trustworthy as it seems. In this story, you can't trust anyone. If you do, you have to be wary. The truth is distorted by the town.

Summer Book Recommendation!

Posted by Mohamed Marzouk in English 3 - Rami on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 7:55 pm

I'm going to recommend the Hunger Games trilogy. I know, 3 books but it's not as bad as it sounds. All three of these books are very well written and paced well. Either you are a polished reader or wanting to pick something up, these are the books for you! Suzanne Collins brilliantly writes about Katness and her life before, during and after the Hunger games. In the first book, Prim, who is Katness's sister is chosen for the Hunger games. Katness steps in and volunteers herself fearing her sister's life. In the books following, there are many twists and turns. You won't want to put the book down.

Summer Reading Recommendation!

I strongly recommend this book for all young women 17+ who are about to begin or are in the college process. The book is like a guide that opened my eyes to a lot of things I hadn't considered when making college choices, as well as what college is like being a young adult.

Book Review!

Posted by Mecca Sharrieff in English 3 - Rami on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 3:00 pm

Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man is one of New York Time's bestsellers, and I received this book as a birthday gift for my seventeenth birthday. After I saw the motion picture in theaters, I couldn't help but to pick up the book for myself. It's basically like a manual all about men. Steve Harvey is the author of this sequel, really digs into not only the mindset of a man, but how women perceive men; followed by the differences in what women see, and what men see. It's an interesting read for anyone who saw the movie - or is just plain interested in the commonality of men and their lifestyle, opinions, etc. I'm still in the process of reading this book, and there are many interesting points that I agree with. The first sentence of this book says, "There is no truer statement: Men are simple. Get this into your head first, and everything you learn about us in this book will begin to fall into place." When I read that, I couldn't help but to agree. Men are simple, just as women are complex. I'd agree that sometimes as women we convince ourselves that a man doesn't care if he doesn't respond in the same way one of your girlfriends would. Men are just built differently. They have a mindset more steered toward solving the problem than conversing about it for several days. Now, there are some exceptions, but this is the general way men handle situations. I recommend this book so far, and I'll be sure to give a more in depth review to anyone who asks.
