-Abstract Emotion
-Kina Grannis- Valentine
-Drake- Best I Ever Had

This 4th quarter went differently; I started off drawing but that transitioned to working with Music. I improved in mastering shading with my Abstract emotion drawing. I tried making the lips as realistic as possible, as well as the nose. I didn't do such a great job on the other facial features but I tried my best on doing so. Working with music was super fun. I'n to record. Recording was a fun experience and also gave me headaches. After running ve had a passion for music since I was in my mother's womb, but I've never had ambitiothrough the song once, I'd listen to the recording and find a mistake. I'd have to record many times until I came to find a recording I was satisfied and was clean from mistakes.

Q4 Art Charles Norman

This quarter in art I actually participated in class. I have to say this class was not bad at all. I am not a great artist, but I did enjoy trying to draw some pictures. This quarter I did two hours of art work for each grading week. I started of by drawing logos of all of the Philly teams. I felt good about it. I ended of the Quarter making a football stadium. I tried to incorporate football with this class. I had fun this quarter drawing, and painting my artwork.

Q4 Niyala Brownlee

Posted by Niyala Brownlee in Advanced Art - Hull on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 4:10 pm

For this quarter there were a lot of classes that we were not assigned work. Though I do think this quarter went by smoother than the last one. This quarter I don't think I did as much assigned work as the last quarter. For the majority of the quarter, I had done two hours on a piece rather than an assigned piece. Sadly we never got to draw a picture of the garden on 22nd and something (I'm bad at direction so I don't know it's address). I plan to work on drawing nature over the summer so I will first start on my garden then try the garden at Tanny park. (Which is beautiful by the way. I will upload some of the edited pictures I took also.)
I don't think I am taking art next year but I would love to take it for senior year. I would also want to know if photography would be counted as work in art class. (Not Instagram photography) I would also love to work on painting and body art. Well since this reflection is getting out of hand, I will end it here and start posting the pictures.

Kamilah's Quarter 4 Art: Rise of The Ink

Posted by Kamilah Hudson in Advanced Art - Hull on Friday, June 1, 2012 at 10:19 pm

During the fourth quarter, we were required to do two hours of work per week of anything we wanted. Originally I tried to stick to the list of art that was suggested that we tried making but I quickly got bored with doing that as my interest grew in something else; drawing in pen. I spent a lot of the quarter having to draw in pen because i could never find a pencil. Then i realized that there was a skill in drawing in ink and that I should pursue it so I did. Just about all the pictures below were done in all ink and I experimented in all of them with shading and the use of thin and thick lines.

Q4 Art Work qmalik

Posted by Qaswa Malik in Advanced Art - Hull on Friday, June 1, 2012 at 9:46 pm

In this quarter, i choose not to follow the projects but instead of given projects, i tried to focus on drawing faces, hands and stuff like that. I total made 9 drawings including eye, lips, 2 portraits, flower, butterfly, shoes, eye with eyebrow, hands. I tried my best to do shading well so that they look realistic. I never drew hands because i cannot draw. But in this quarter, i tried to draw them, it does not look more realistic as other drawings but still i did my best and improved in drawing hands. And also, i did not make pictures of drawings because it doest not look good so that's why i scanned them.
Here are my drawings :)

Stewart-McDonald, Sabrina Quarter 4

Posted by Sabrina Stewart-McDonald in Advanced Art - Hull on Friday, June 1, 2012 at 12:23 pm

This quarter I tried to explore different types of mediums and styles. Rather than sticking with what I usually do (pencil with shading); I tried to add more color in my drawings. I usually try to focus on figure and face drawings, but I also tried some other things, like graphics and cartoons.
I'm not too good at abstract, so for my first drawing, I tried drawing a ballerina. I usually try figure drawings to try to improve the proportions I use in my drawings and to try to develop my own technique when drawing clothing.
I stuck with drawing ballerinas and attempted to display abstract motion. I tried to add some color to the drawing to display a mix of emotion and a type of path of movement. I first drew the piece in pencil, then colored the ballerina silhouettes with permanent marker.
I wanted to practice drawing features and shading on faces. The face I drew isn't proportionate; it was my way of practicing the way the features look (I feel like I am still terrible at drawing lips) and practicing the shading, particularly around the eye area.
I wanted to draw something different than what I usually do, so I tried to draw something that is like a graphic. I really wanted to draw a fountain pen, so I let that influence my drawing. It was mainly black, so I decided to add drops of red ink on the pen.
I wanted to do something colorful, so I drew the dark magician girl. I didn't want to use things that I had at my disposal, so I actually colored it using highlighters and pens.
I saw a picture like this online. There was more to it, but I've been wanting to draw an owl, it was only in black and white and I wanted to add a lot of color. I drew the owl by sight, then inked in the lines with sharpie and colored it in with colored pencils.
I was drawing a face, but I found that I could not draw eyes that I felt fit the face right, so I decided to make it kind of abstract by coloring the girl a strange color and adding a colorful background

4Q Advanced Art Final Blog

4Q Advanced Art Blog

During the 4Q I advanced my art skills extremely, I used variations of different of artistic methods to improve the way I look at my art and how the previous quarters have let me explore my individually as an artist. This quater I mainly focus on abstract pencil drawings as well as abstract water color paintings. Compare to my other artistic work throughout this year, abstract water color was a new adventure and I enjoy working with it as one of my final products to submit for the 4Q marking period.

Jesus Jimenez Quarter 4

Posted by Jesus Jimenez in Advanced Art - Hull on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at 1:13 pm

(Edit: I uploaded the pictures at a certain angle, yet they keep uploading upside down or on the side.)

This quarter, I focused more on finding my drawing style. I usually copy by sight, and I got tired of that. So I decided to go on a quest to make my own original art and find my style. I started out doodling, and the first drawing is of a video game character. It was a sketch I did, and eventually in the following weeks, I used Indian ink to do line art on it. I also shaded using the ink which was a risk because I had no idea how to shade.

I tried going as abstract as possible with my abstract motion drawing. I was inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog, since he goes fast and all. You can primarily see the influence on the checkered road. All I used was pencil, and was proud of it because I filled the page.

The following 4 drawings were done at school and at home. It was a character I was making or was stuck in my head for a while. I had no idea what to call her, so she ended up being the "Girl with green hair and brown hat". It never caught on, I never colored her in and didn't continue drawing her.

The next drawing is another character from some show I decided to draw. The inks worked wonders, and it really brought out the color. I was proud of this because it was my first time using the inks, and it made the sketch look really nice. I wish I could've done the whole body, but I really use a lot of space when sketching.

Last drawing is a character I made named Nikki. I made a series of sketches of her head, that I never showed. One is in my math book, the others are at home. She's a pretty rude person (which is awesome because I know how to draw her since I know what kind of person she would be and what she would be doing. I was proud of this one also because I designed the character, sketched it, and inked it. I gave up on the hands, because I still need practice. On the picture, you can see that there are some hands sketched on her. I'm still trying.

Last picture is a hat I want to make for a video game. I used blender (a 3D modeling tool) to make it from scratch, I'm still making it. I need to make the textures still and submit it. Hope it gets done! This was my second attempt at 3D modeling, I learned a bit.

Q4 Blog Post

Posted by Daniel Wirt in Advanced Art - Hull on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at 12:13 pm

During the fourth quarter I really went all out on my stuff. I dabbed into a bit of "anime," some abstract paintings using water color paint, and even made some rings using copper wire and gems. I feel as though I really don't know what I like and so that is why i went about doing a bunch of different forms of art this quarter.

For my first piece of art, i created a picture of Gohan who is from the show dragon ball z. The show was a big part of my childhood and so i wanted to draw something from it considering it was something that i liked a lot. I put a lot of effort into it and i think the final product came out to look really nice.

For my second piece of work, I created a picture of yet another character from the tv show, only this time it was a different person. It was a bigger scale picture so it took longer to draw in terms of there being more space to cover, however there wasn't as much detail put into this piece compared to the other.

For my third piece of work, I created pieces of water color paintings that were abstract. It took a lot of concentration and focus. I had to really think about the movements of the brush before i started. Like, what was I going to make the picture look like? How big? What kind of feel will there be behind it? It was pretty challenging but I came out with 3 pieces that I am proud of.

I also completed other pieces that i didn't submit for grading. Such as the rings that were made out of copper wire with gems.

Pieces of art will be uploaded tonight**

Artist's Statement Q4 - Breeanna Noi

Posted by Breeanna Noi in Advanced Art - Hull on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 11:52 pm

During the last quarter, I worked more on my own interests rather than the landscapes listed in the course. Most of my artwork is all over the place, but my main focus was typography. I don't know much about typography. However, living in the city does allow you to have some appreciation for the street art and graffiti. I, for one, do not encourage vandalism. Although the art that's shown throughout the city is the most unique.

My first piece of art was just a piece when I was dabbling into landscapes (as listed in the course). I felt like it would have been nice to try what was recommended, first. Landscapes were interesting, but I am very particular about how I emphasize certain part of a picture.

My next sketch was just a bunch of aztec patterns in one. I've never drawn a whole sheet of just patterns alone, so it was something new for me to try. I guess this was the part when I was indecisive on what I was going to work on, so a bunch of lines and doodles was a great break rather than trying to be very precise with certain textures and areas.

My third sketch was the beginning of my typography. What better way to try something new than to start with the basics? My first step was sticking around in Google Images and finding different font styles to sketch up. When I finished my alphabet, I went on to look at different sentences and I worked on different styles of words to get a better view on the art of typography.

My fifth sketch led me to incorporate the things I've done in my previous work to sketch my name. I used very simple block letters, but I went back to different patterns in my name like I did in my second artwork.

Last, but no least, I wanted to Google a work of typography where the word related to the picture. I, like everyone else in the world, love bacon. So I tried to make a bacon face while I wrote bacon in a bacon-y looking style.
