      My partner and I googled the process it took in order to apply for a license to carry a firearm in Philadelphia. We found out that all you really needed to do was fill out papers and supply a few documents. We printed out our papers and filled them out the way we would if we were to actually apply for the license.

      The paper work was extremely easy to fill out, it wasn’t too long and over the top or worded in a way that left any type of confusion. Everything the papers asked was straight forward and was completed in a day.

      If I could change one thing about the bureaucratic process that I flow charted about it would be the questions that are asked. I say this because a lot of the questions were extremely repetitive . Also I would add a little more information about how someone could go about completing this process if they didn’t have the necessary items. For example, if a person was convicted of a crime and they wanted to get a gun license I would go into detail about what they can do to receive their license even with these convictions.

      I think the systems have become so complicated because there are a lot more issues and details that need to be addressed within our society so to try to ensure the safety and simplicity of our society certain precautions need to be made to make the jobs of people in the system easier.

      I found this project to be extremely fun and interesting. I liked feeling like I was actually going through the movements knowing that these were the actual steps to receiving a firearm license. I liked feeling like I was apart of our larger working system as a people. 

      I think I can influence people my age because I know how to relate to them to make them care about issues. There is no specific timeframe for my issue but it would be amazing if this bill could be passed before the next election so that all votes are held and accounted for the way they are cast.

       So far no dates have been set to move forward with this bill but there has been some progress and actions made which is progression already.

Congressman Chaka Fattah supports many things and has sponsored 6 Bills that all support a different thing but when looking through all of the things Chaka Fattah has supported I see that he is all about children and equality

When it comes to the topic of the electoral college Congressman Chaka Fattah was one of the co-supporters in the Bill H.J.RES.36: “Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to abolish the Electoral College and provide for the direct election of the President and Vice President by the popular vote of all citizens of the United States regardless of place of reside”

When it comes to things we have in common there isn’t much between Chaka Fattah and myself. We both went to schools in the Philadelphia School District, we share the same religion which is a Baptist Christian and we are both democrats that reside in the city of Philadelphia.

The situation behind this case is that in an apartment building there was a hijacker that had been robbing cars for a while and one night an elderly woman looked outside of her window and saw a black man standing between cars talking to a police officer in the parking lot. The elderly woman, when questioned told police that he had been the man breaking into cars at night, when the elderly woman was asked to identify the man from an array of photos she could not do so and the only problem the Court agreed to look over was whether or not the absence of any police manipulation of that witness was reliable enough to bring before the jury to be used against the conviction of Barion Perry. 

The constitutional question in plain English  is “In a case should a court be required to exclude eyewitness identification evidence whenever the identification was made under circumstances that make the identification unreliable?”

            The Constitutional Provision involved in my case is The Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. Which states that “No State shall ... deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.” U.S. CONST. amend. XIV, § 1.

The Fourteenth Amendment is applicable to unreliable eyewitness identifications regardless of whether the identification was orchestrated by the police.

After the case was argued The Supreme Court decided that it wasn’t their job or place to decide whether or not the evidence in the case should be used and that the decision of permissible evidence would be left up to the jury. The conviction of Barion Perry still hasn’t been decided mainly because of the evidence debate. 

I’m not to sure how to predict the outcome of this case because it could go in either direction. I personally don’t believe this evidence should

Be used against Perry because I feel like the evidence is unreliable. The witness didn’t see Perry take anything and she was not able to identify him when she was asked. The conclusion of this case is strictly dependant upon the jury so at this point and time this could end either way.

My Food Slide

A Play On Saladworks Sophie’s Salad.

Makes: 4 Servings

Time: About 20 Minutes

Ingredients

-       1 bag or head of Organic lettuce (Any brand)

-       ½ Apple

-       2 handfuls of lo Mein noodles

-       2 handfuls of croutons (If preferred)

-       1 chicken

-       ½ Cup of shredded cheddar cheese

-       ½ cup of walnuts (Or any nut you’d like)

-        Raspberry Vinaigrette  Salad Dressing or Oriental Sesame Salad Dressing (Desired Amount)

Directions

- Grill Chicken Breast and cut into long stripes and then dice chicken up

-  Cut up head of organic lettuce and put into a large serving bowl or pour bag of lettuce into serving bowl

- Cut apple half into bite size cubes and put into a separate bowl with your ½ cup of walnuts and shredded cheese (All of these ingredients will be kept together to prevent wilting and sogginess of other ingredients)

-  Hand mix apples, cheese and walnuts together to even out the portions

- Pour apple, walnut, and cheese mix into the serving bowl with lettuce

- Lastly, Sprinkle Lo Mein noodles and croutons onto the salad mix and pour on desired amount of salad dressing

-- Grab a bowl and Enjoy!

     I believe that depending on the type of each ingredient you purchase that determines how much of this meal is processed and how much is whole food. For example, if you were to purchase organic chicken breast as oppose to the processed chicken breast that would drastically change the percentage of processed food in the meal.

      Since I usually change the original recipe to my liking and what I’m in the mood for the calories are very different each time I make this dish so below is the nutritional information for the original Sophie’s Salad.

    I’m positive that each ingredient in my salad came from the U.S.  I don’t believe any of these ingredients would have to travel any extreme distance. Again, I would say that depending on the type of ingredient you were to purchase that would determine how organic the meal was

      I believe that all together this meal cost around $25.00 and serves 4 people and sometimes more if you were to use bigger portions of the ingredients. I believe that a huge corporation would be Perdue  because they are well known chicken producers and the chances of people paying the extra amount of money to get organic chicken breast and this salad can’t be made without chicken so usually people settle for companies such as Perdue.

 I really enjoyed this unit because I learned a lot about some things I had never even heard of especially while watching the Food, Inc. Movie. There were some things in this unit I already knew and my knowledge was just increased and then there were things such as the “Pig Scolder” that I knew nothing about.

     My role in the larger food system would definitely be a consumer because most if not all of my money is spent on fast food.  I can honestly say I order or pick up an order of French fries once a week.

     The biggest problem with our food system is that nothing is real anymore. Everything that we are served as a society is processed or shot up with hormones in some sort of way and the foods that are real and organic are way out the average price range of families so they can never afford to eat the way they should.

     Some changes that I could make to my food choices are that I could spend less money on take out and fast foods by making more meals at home that are more healthy for me such as organic. Instead of trying to order out everyday I could make my lunch at home which would be healthier and cheaper.

     Once I made these changes not only would I actually have money during the week but I’d be way healthier and it would probably help me do things with less of struggles such as walking to the 5^th floor of the building everyday.

     Honestly, I’m not willing to give up fast food because I enjoy eating French fries too much. If there was a way to get healthier fries for the same price as fast food and they tasted just as good as the unhealthy fries I would be more incline to stop eating fast food.

The pending legislation dealing with The Electoral College is the:

I believe this can really help my lobbying topic because with this and the graphs and explanations that let people know exactly how their votes are being used and counted if counted at all will really make people stop and think twice about whether or not they agree with the electoral college. 

Sound from a guitar is produced by plucking or strumming the strings which are all different sizes to my understanding there are six strings on guitar and each strong makes a different sound while holding your finger down on different sections of the neck. When you pluck or strum the strings the strings vibrate from where your finger is on the neck down to the end of the body of the guitar.

To change the pitch of my instrument I will have to adjust the machine heads also known as the tuners, I would have to turn these tuners to the left or the right in order to get a high or low pitch. There are many parts to a guitar but I think the important physical characteristics would have to be 16 out of the 20 parts of the guitar.

To build this guitar I will need wood to build the body, some plastic pieces for different parts of the guitar, some twisted screws for the machine heads, wire and thin metal piping for the fret board and I will need different sized plastic string for the actual strings of the guitar. All of these materials should be able to cover the necessary components of the guitar.

I will construct this instrument in my Advanced Engineering class that way I have all the materials I need at my fingertips, If that time id not enough I will also take extra time out of my day to stay after school to try to complete the guitar.

For my Physics Benchmark my group will have to form a band with our own homemade instruments. The instrument I would like to focus on is the guitar, I would like to build this instrument because growing up I always wanted to play the guitar but I was never able to take lessons so this would give me a perfect opportunity to play this instrument.

The guitar is played by plucking a set of strings and sliding your fingers down the long fretted neck of the guitar that makes different sounds when touched in different places which would be the way you changed a note by moving your finger to different places on the neck of the guitar.

There are two types of guitars, there is the acoustic and the electric. The basic shape of a guitar I would describe as the figure eight with a hole directly in the center of the body on an acoustic guitar. However, an electric guitar doesn’t have a hole in the center of the body. They both have different but very similar shapes, both types of guitars have 12 components minimum but an acoustic guitar has 20 total.  Below is a picture of both types of guitars with their matching and different parts labeled. 

I believe that the hole in the body of the guitar combined with the way you move your fingers on the fret board have something to do with the way you create and change the sounds that come out of the guitar. I believe that when the stings on a guitar are plucked they send some type of vibration or wave through the fret board and that causes the strings to make the different sounds that they make causing them to turn into different sound waves.
