AGENT OF CHANGE
For my final agent of change I decided to did 3 posters that really set the mindset of how smoking is bad for every human around the world. When I first started this project I was going to do only children but I quickly realized after some research that it is not only the children that need help, the adults also need help with smoking because I pretty sure they do not realize the extensive and everlasting damage smoking puts on your body and your pockets. So what I did to spread some awareness around my school community was to put up several different posters that depict how smoking affects you and the people around you. My first poster was a picture of the words Ńo Smoking” and below that was multiple reasons and effects smoking has on You My next poster that I made was a picture a vertical cigarette that shows the different ages( to the max of 60). For my final poster I made was a pictures of cigarette explaining the dangers and how. I realized a lot through these past couple of months the worst of smoking and the effets aren’t just made up, they are real and I learned that from multiple MDs about smoking and the dangers. From this project I also want and have been talking to my family that smokes and sharing this information with them. I believe I should do that because It shows how much I have learned from this project and I feel as though it’s my duty and my job that I try to make a change in people lives to stop smoking to one protect their health and two stop a trend that smoking is cool and I hope that I achieve that with my posters.
Hello readers, if you’ve read my previous post on cigarettes the you’ll know that i’ve put in many hours of research proving to you how bad cigarettes and smoking is. I’ve also been trying to convince you to stop smoking if you already was or to not smoke. If you haven’t read that post here . In that document you can see all of the research I have conducted online and summed up based on the different websites I visited. In there contains facts on lung cancer, chemicals in cigarettes and much more but I wanted more. I wanted to get deeper research and a more human answer not just from online. So what i’ve done over these past weeks is interview 2 doctors asking them questions about smoking and its effects on the human body and why they think it’s so addicting. I also interviewed a dentist who happens to be my friends dad to talk about cigarettes effects on oral health. Here is the interview with a MD. Basically what he talked about in the interview and went over five different questions that I asked him over a period of around 10 minutes and gave me good, thoughtful answers that were very detailed. The first question I asked him was some health risks of smoking and the first thing that he responded with was what I put in my first document which was kung cancer. He described it as basically a tar build up; and he has seen a human lung which was filled with tar and other chemicals from cigarettes. He also explained to me that if the person that smoked just stopped smoking for even about 5 years the lungs would have regenerated because that’s one of the traits they have and that means the lungs would have been able to retract and allow air to come in and out. This has a lot to do what a neurologist that came to my school to speak last year about smoking and he said smoking makes the brain work 10x harder using 10x less of the help then it had before. He told us that smoking reduces the oxygen flow to the brain and that also happens to the heart. Speaking of the heart, Another question that I asked Dr.Michael Mccoy was about another major organ in the body. The heart. Dr.Mccoy told me that there is less oxygen being pumped to the heart and that means less oxygen that is being pumped and that means less oxygen that is going to the body. The last major question that I asked him was what major cause comes from smoking. He responded to me with a strong answer in a sense. It was one of those answers that you think about after you hear. The answer he gave was death. Death is the 1 repercussion of smoking and if you think about it is, every other disease or dysfunction leads to death.
7000 vs You
Cigarettes are a big problem in US and around the world. More than over 17% of the US smokes and cause over 480,000 deaths almost every year. That’s ridiculous and only to tell you that it starts with young teens.
Smoking has been around for a while now and has recently died down since 2005 by 3% but that's 17% percent that I was talked about before was filled with 15% of teens smoke under the age of 18. Now to me thatś crazy and I bet that some of you didn’t even know some of these things I just told you and probably won’t know the things I’m about to tell you. The reason why smoking is so bad is because it’s increase in risks of incurable diseases such as lung cancer.
Lung cancer. Smoking causes 80 to 90 percent of lung cancer cases in the US. This happens from all of the over 7000 chemicals in cigarettes and some of them give a more of a craving from flavored cigarettes appealing to the younger community and therefore increasing a higher death rate from cancer in young teens and all over the world setting a trend of how smoking is cool when it’s really is not at all.

If you’re a smoker then technically you’re a murderer because second hand smoke kills 7,500 people per year . That is a problem because this consists of young children, elders and innocent people. It also messes up yours and others brain for the worst. It cause the brain to create extra receptors just to feel the sensation of nicotine in your system therefore giving you less money because you are craving something that is expensive. Every time you buy a pack of cigarettes you lose up to $10. But back to the brian, cigarettes mess up the human brain sometimes causing brain damage due to nicotine withdrawal which comes from you losing nicotine which causes those extra brain receptors that you’ve built up to not receive nutrients then possibly some sort of brain trauma or making a person go crazy from lack of nicotine.
This picture shows how Nicotine builds those extra receptors in you brain
Those were just some facts about smoking and how bad it is but I want to tell you the reader a little story about my grandmother who smoked since she was 16 years of age and how that affected her life. My grandmother Linda was a lifetime smoker who enjoyed smoking and that ruined her life. Smoking made her crazy, poor and smell bad. Now I don’t like to speak on my grandmother that much because her addiction to nicotine has also affected my life for the worst as well. Smoking also gave her bronchitis which is a breathing disease in the bronchial glands and also gave a gum disease where she had rotten teeth that had to be removed. Now that sounds disgusting right? My grandmother is not a bad person, she is actually amazing but ever since she starting smoking or as it progressively gotten worse she gotten meaner in a since. Sometime she wouldn’t have the money to purchase cigarettes and would ask me. Most of the time I would pay for her addiction which I should´ve never done; But when I wouldn’t give her any money because either I didn’t have it or I didn’t want to give her the money she would get a really bad attitude and say things a grandmother shouldn’t say to her grandchild. What i’m trying to show you is that smoking changes people for the worse. It makes you very angry and upset and just not pleasant to be around.
Now speaking on the money issue with cigarettes, cigarette take up almost 80 million dollars of the worlds pockets. Just like this picture shown here you’re basically burning your money away. Just imagine getting your check after a long week or 2 of work and cut it in half because that’s what your doing when you want to buy cigarettes that month. That is basically wasting money on suicide because every pack you smoke takes off 7-8 years
A diagram of everything that I talked about. BAD facts about smoking effects on lungs

For my slide in the beginning I really had some trouble figuring out what to write about. I kept on saying to myself how are you supposed to describe yourself with only a few words and one slide. So I told myself to sit back and relax so you can figure out a word. So while I was thinking I started day dreaming, then it hit me. I am a dreamer. I have bring dreams and set very high expectations for myself. Every day I think about playing in the NFL because that is my big dream that I want to and am going to succeed at. So that's why I chose the picture for my slide, a boy dreaming big. For my slide design what I did was put a blue gradient back with the words dreamer to match my contrats in the back. I chose blue because it’s a type of pop color.
