Follow My Order!
In “Lord of the Flies” by William Golding a transportation plane crashes on a random island, the only few people that survive are surprisingly a group of young boys and most of them are strangers to each other. This island was not their destination, they’re not prepared to survive on an island, but that doesn’t matter anymore as they’re forced to make choice if they want to survive on this island. As young boys it’s hard, but they must make choices on this island, not solely for their own survival, but as well as every other boy on the island. With most random boys not familiar with surviving on an island the boys aren’t sure of their choices. Once they select Ralph as their leader it seems as though they all understand he is in command and what he says goes. When choosing to follow Ralph, their choices aren’t dependent on their own knowledge and instinct when under command anymore, they’re dependent on what the other guy is doing. In an rulership, when it comes to following an order complying to what everyone else does and how everyone else acts is natural . But once apart of whatever the crowd does. Without knowing it, people comply to whatever everyone else does, and that begs the question; Is there a silence that fights against the orders of a commander in the form of a question or an idea when it comes to people following orders? Comfort zones are no longer of any importance when the sitation at hand seems normal to those around you
Once the boys all find each other on this island they finally begin to understand that they’re gonna be here for a while. They decided to put somebody in command.Once it came down to determine who their leader would be,the boys voted for Ralph to be their leader by raising their hands. Some of the boys, such as Jack weren’t okay with Ralph officially being elected as their leader. When Ralph’s title as leader was established Jack was disappointed in the decision, but Ralph later gave him control over the choir boys and hunting.”The circle of boys broke into applause. Even the choir applauded, and the freckles on Jack’s face disappeared under a blush of mortification. He started up, then changed his mind and sat down again while the air rang” (23).The boys applauding in a situation like this is a way of them expressing content and delight for Jack’s decision as leader. However, the boys clapping could also be to send a message to everyone else about the emotion they want to be comprehended for, content and delight may not be their true feelings. Jack accepted that what he felt was right didn’t matter anymore after he accepted the boys decision and broke into the emotional state of mortification. Him sitting down was him signifying that he accepts the situation at hand and understands that what has happened is glued in place.
In Lord of the Flies by William Golding some of the boys aren’t always comfortable with what their doing. When it came to hunting there was a boy named Jack who overall took control of the leadership role when it came to hunting. Ralph wasn’t a fan of hunting, but since it had become normal to the hunters he decided to give it a shot. While traveling, the boys ended up along the pig track and that is where Ralph spotted a boar. He took aim with his wooden stick, and stuck it into the boar. The boys chased the boar down to the see, but lost track of it. Ralph felt accomplished with his shot after. “I hit him,” said Ralph again, “and the spear stuck in a bit.”
He felt the need of witnesses.
“Didn’t you see me?”
Maurice nodded.
“I saw you. Right bang on his snout Where!” (113)
Ralph is rolling with a new crowd when hunting down the boar. He’s not used to this feeling, it felt really good to him because he wanted to have the attention for his accomplishment. He seeked out attention so everyone could celebrate along by his side about his huge accomplishment, but sadly Ralph didn’t understand that not only did his shot not kill the boar, but on top of that, this wasn’t irregular to the hunter, this was in fact normal to them. Hunting while stranded there would be enough spear’s plunging into the flesh of prey and the feeling of witnessing that wouldn’t excite the boys, but Ralph failed to see that. At the end of his begging, Maurice gave him a nod most likely just to quiet Ralph down while they still tried to catch the undead boar that was running away from them. How the group wanted Ralph to feel was of little importance to the boys as they didn’t see this as an achievement worthy of celebration, rather than just another ol’ day in the life of a hunter, nothing special, it was normal.
Conformity is trying to match people’s feelings and beliefs to be the same as anybody else’s in the crowd. In today’s world conformity is seen in everyday lives, at school, work, or even riding the bus. Part of this reason is because of people being unaware that they’re conforming to another group. For example, acts such as smoking and drinking in a highschool environment may seem normal to those around somebody, but when somebody decides to partake in the same actions as the next person people may come to find out that they’re not comfortable with what they’re doing. People’s own comfort begin to become less important when going along with the crowd becomes more important. Back in 1935 a Psychologist published his experiment about conformity. “Asch used a lab experiment to study conformity, whereby 50 male students from Swarthmore College in the USA participated in a ‘vision test.’ Using a line judgment task, Asch put a naive participant in a room with seven confederates.” In this experiment the questions asked in this test were obvious when using common sense, however with 7 confederates there their job was to try to get the one participant to their answers, instead of the obvious answer. Even if the participant was not comfortable with the answer he chose it because he trusted in what the 7 other confederates answers were. This real world example connects to Ralph’s decision to try out hunting. Even though he wasn’t comfortable with it, he still chose to do it because everyone around him were hunters and felt comfortable hunting.
Hernan Cortes was an explorer. In 1521 he conquered the Aztecs with the help of his men. He traveled to mexico with 500 of his soldiers. Once he went from wanting to explore to wanting to conquer the Aztecs all of his men were not on board with his plan any more. One man tried to assassinate him for his change of heart, but Hernan Cortes found out his plot and had him hung. None of his other men tried anything like this again. “Cortes and his men were in the center of the city, and would most likely have to fight their way out no matter what direction they took.” Cortes men ended up being in the city anyway and attacking the Aztecs and torturing their people. His men winded up fighting no matter what there comforts were. They weren’t on board with Hernan Cortes’s plans but they never tried to rebel against because of the first failed attempt by their fellow soldier
Comfort isn’t important to people when it’s normalized amongst those around you. How comfortable somebody is at times may not be that important to that person, or what they’re conforming to may be more fun or exciting than their own comfort so they decide to take a risk. This could be a good or bad thing but in general, it's natural. In conclusion, the world has shown accounts of this since the beginning of time, but being aware of the conformity you partake in is what makes somebody different from everyone else.

The King's Advisor
My king, ruler of the great kingdoms and heir to the throne, If you would grant me time and your presence, I will speak truthfully with a clear tongue by your great name I swear it. I know I have wronged you in the past and my words have been venom to your military but I beg of your ears. It would be my honor to inform you of who conspires to bury your army in the dust.
As royal advisor of the king I’m obligated to advise you of what's to come at the Battle of Dorm. As your men march south… west I mean west on the shores, my apologies my king. Lord Darzi's Intends to intercept your men in the midst of night while beds are laid. There are no safe lands on your route my king. My king I beg of you to listen to my advice, You’re the greatest war commander the 10 kingdoms have, but even leaders such as yourself have won many other battle’s when avoiding bloodshed, and yet to this day you stay seated on the throne. Some of the greatest battles to come to the 10 kingdoms have simply been won from the words of an advisor, however I know my words are not as fluent as the advisors before me but I’m trying to show you I’ve changed my King. What I speak of does not come from the mouth alone, it is written in ink. My words are not crafted in my mind. My king, to avoid such warnings from raven would be sentencing your entire army to death my king. “Lord Darzi is planning an attack on the shore of the king's army, inform the king immediately.” it said. I propose we prepare camp first sight of sunlight. We head west up the mountains for higher ground. We arm all of our men with bows and flaming arrow and rain hell on them from the mountain.
No more blood needs to be shed my lord, no more men need to sacrifice themselves to a lost cause. My lord you are ruler of an army, that I as a General commanded and fought for. I’m 55 years of age, but If I were still young on that battlefield I would rather slit my wrist than have the thought of death a cloud my mind knowing there could’ve been hope. Draw your men back to the capital and all of the forces will soon be aware that they cannot penetrate your mighty army. This is what I advise you my king, no my king this is what I beg of you, I fought many wars as a General before being at your hand my king, I’ve experienced things, I’ve seen thing no man should ever lay an eye upon, yet i'm standing here by the grace of the Gods, so hear me out my king and I won’t disappoint you as I have before. Now I’m sure all of which I speak may come unreasonable considering the lost battle in Germania in which we lost because of my foolish advice, but maybe today is the day my king, today is the day I save the lives of all the children and women in the city, I’m trying to prove to you my worth my king, but a decision must be made my king. I have won wars for you though my king haven’t I? I’m just doing what you have called me for my king. So will you believe me just this once? Are my words not clear enough today? Will you save the lives of thousands of your men? Will you spare an old man the guilt of death on his shoulder? Will you do this for your people and for me my king? So take my advice my king and spare me… no spare us all the thought of another man losing his life.

The Life I Chose
Sometimes, I have conversations with myself. “My life is really a mess. I’m just a puddle on the sidewalk on a rainy day, constantly stepped on by strangers. I’m just waiting for the sun to finally dry me up so it can all go away.” I’ve also thought, “I am nothing without faith,” a phrase repeated in my head from time to time. I slowly try to fix my mindset, persuading myself that what I believe in will carry me on in the long run. Finally, I’m convinced that my faith, my religion, and beliefs are what hold me together to pursue on to the next day. I’m a christian.
It’s sunday morning, the day of worship for our family. “Wake up your sisters and tell them to eat breakfast, we’re leaving in 45 minutes.”
My biggest struggle every morning was walking up those fifteen steps, taking a right and pushing my sisters door open. “Time to get up,” I scream.
“Huh wha… Okay okay.” She responded.
my sibling are all waiting downstairs for me. Whenever I asked my dad, “Why do we leave for church at 8 am every Sunday?” He’d always answer with the same response.
“Because God wants you to.” I failed to realize that if I were serious about practicing Christianity, I have to commit my entire life.
Once we reached the church, my family stepped out of the big, white van, and walked inside the building. The doors were wide open. As I walked in, I could hear the laughter and songs. Such a pleasant entrance so early in the morning, or so I thought. This church wasn’t even my original church. We were just visitors trying to explore different options. We finally found a seat in the pews and the service had started. I felt lost and alone in the midst of the worship songs. While it seemed to be like everybody was happy, the energy around me was odd. I looked around and noticed I was the only one without a smile on my face. I had questioned myself for the second time that day. What do I really gain out of coming here everyday? This was the life I chose so I had to live with it.
There was an instance, at my church outreach that I was confused to how my Pastor expected me to approach people and bring them to church. “So you’re just gonna give them a cookie then some lemonade and that will give you a chance to talk to them,” I said out of curiosity and confusion.
“Well yeah, the cookies and lemonade are to show how grateful we are to have new people in our church, but if I can get the chance to shake their hand and just tell them about the bible, that’s all that really needs to be down. Now I can’t force them in here yaknow (laughter) but I can encourage them to learn about the word.”
“Can I help?” I said.
“Yeah, you can pass these flyers out and hand out cookies and lemonade to whoever passes by.” He responded with joy. He handed me the flyers gave me a smile then continued handing out cookies and lemonade.
“Why are we giving these out for free,” I said.
“Because that’s what God tells us to do, he doesn’t necessarily say physical objects but he wants us to give and to spread his word. This is how we believe we can do that.” I didn’t really understand. I still thought that a Christian would have to provide gifts to honor God. This was where I realized that this system meant also being a prophet as well. As I got older, the more I realized how complicated this system was. However. growing up being forced to practice this religion made me realize that I wanted to pursue it and commit myself. The scriptures tell me that no matter how complicated it may get, when it’s time, I’ll be just fine.
When you start to live in a Christian way, you automatically take on the weight of spreading the scripture. You need to change your posture, your language, your body language, and your knowledge to determine how many people’s attention you can attract to your topic. Convincing people to change their entire life style is no easy task. The system is different for everyone. Some people follow the scripture in the system to the fullest, some not at all, and some in the middle. For me I believe that this system can be complicated but once you grow up and start to understand you really know how to work you way in it and for me it’s easier to believe. In conclusion, people need to understand that some things don’t just happen. They take time, communication, and dedication to pursue.

Negative Space
Negative space is the space around the primary picture. If there were something drawn all of the space around it would be the negative space. I found negative space anywhere but where the tree was. The tree was in the picture and all the other colors were negative space. It helps an artist to realize how much space you have for your picture and how the negative space will make the picture look. If the negative space has a peculiar space compared to the picture then it could disengage the observer and vice versa. For me it doesn’t really enhance my drawing. I don’t know how to speak about other artist, but for me it only help me realize how much space I have on the paper to draw the picture.
