Gil Rosen CAPSTONE

Posted by Gil Rosen in Capstone · Hernandez/Hull · Wed on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at 6:19 pm

Ultimate frisbee has become a huge part of my life at Science Leadership Academy. Ever since I joined the team back in Junior year, I never looked back. For my capstone, I wanted to do something I was passionate about. I knew doing something on ultimate frisbee was the right idea for me. I wasn’t sure at first what to do. My friend Eli, who is also captain of the Varsity team, approached on the subject and gave the idea for a documentary. I knew it was a fantastic idea since I was in the CTE program. Bringing a documentary about the biggest sport at SLA would be engaging for all. It would also give back to the school. Incoming freshman who wonder what ultimate frisbee is like would watch the documentary and know that the sport is right for them.

For my capstone, I am creating a documentary on the Ultimate Frisbee at Science Leadership Academy. This means for my documentary I will be using extra footage to show the playing time of the players during games and tournaments. For the team, I am responsible for recording these games and eventually uploading onto the Youtube channel for the team to watch later as game film. The Youtube channel showcases all the games and tournaments from the season and more will be uploaded for the new season. I will be using this footage for my own documentary which means this will be helping me for my project.

For my capstone, I am creating a documentary on the Ultimate Frisbee team at Science Leadership Academy. I’ve done documentaries before for my Digital Video class, but there is always improvement. My documentaries in the past have been decent, but for this capstone I want to exceed expectations and go beyond my skill set to learn more and perform more. I believe that documentaries need to have some good elements to them and this resource shows me how to create good documentaries. It will provide excellent tips for my filmmaking and also test what I know about documentaries already.

This source provides a useful step by step guide on how to make good documentaries. This will help my skill set become more advanced than it already is. It also gives great tips on how to research for my documentary also which is even better. I am going to need to come up with a good timeline on what I want the documentary to look like and this source helps me create that the way it should.

For my capstone, I am creating a documentary on the Ultimate Frisbee team at Science Leadership Academy. I’ve done documentaries before for my Digital Video class, but there is always improvement. Having a specific step by step guide on how to create a documentary is very useful for creating a documentary. Since this is my third source on how to create a documentary, it shows me different ways to create a documentary by different opinions. I can collect this knowledge and incorporate each guide to create my own exceeding documentary. It may be opinion based, but having opinions and resources by professionals are very useful for creating art based work.

For my capstone, I am creating a documentary on the Ultimate Frisbee team at Science Leadership Academy. Ultimate frisbee is a very complex sport that most people do not know how to play. For my audience to understand the sport more and more, I will have to incorpate a segment into the documentary on how to play the sport. For me to explain the sport, I am going to need resources from a website that provides ways to play the game and learn new techniques on how to throw the frisbee properly. This resource is especially helpful because I am not an expert on the sport and I am just a player.

For my audience to understand the sport more and more, I will have to incorpate a segment into the documentary on how to play the sport. For me to explain the sport, I am going to need resources to explain the sport in the best way possible. Multiple sources to explain the sport is more helpful for me to understand how to explain it the best. I used the official Ultimate Frisbee organization in the United States to explain the sport. Their phamplet online as a pdf is the best way to understand the sport to the fullest.

For my capstone, I am creating a documentary on the Ultimate Frisbee team at Science Leadership Academy. I am going to going the coach of the school who is also the principal, Mr. Lehmann. I will as well interview the captains of the varsity team to understand more of the player side of the team. For my interview, I am going to need to produce thought out questions about the sports and specifically the team. For me to complete this task, I am going to refer to a real interview someone had with a real ultimate frisbee player. This will help me create a real interviews with the coach and players so I can make the best possible documentary possible.

This article is describing why sports matter. This helps me explains and produce the documentary about why the sport matters at my school. The principal is the varsity coach and cares deeply about the sport and the team. This helps me go in depth along with the interviews on why the sport matters and compare it to my interview questions that I have for the players.

For my capstone, I am creating a documentary on the Ultimate Frisbee team at Science Leadership Academy. This resource is an article about how someone was taught the value of sports through teenage boys. Teenage boys are the future for sports and teaching adults about the sports are crucial for modern day. My documentary is basically the same thing. I am interviewing teenage boys at Science Leadership Academy about their experience on the ultimate frisbee team. This article will help me develop the same kind of plot for my documentary. I will also interview the coach the same thing that this article addresses.

The NFL Draft is Wasteful

Posted by Gil Rosen in English 3 · Pahomov · A Band on Monday, May 1, 2017 at 6:30 am

The NFL Draft is Wasteful

The National Football League, and other professional sport leagues, hold a draft every year. This consists of each team in the league selecting the best players available in their opinion who declare for the draft. In this process, the NFL and the other leagues who participate make a big deal out of it. This year, the NFL draft is held in Philadelphia, home of the Philadelphia Eagles. It is the first NFL draft where the venue is being built and held outside on the stairs of the Art Museum. Also, the NFL is having a new event called “The NFL Draft Experience”. This will be an outdoor experience that is free to the public that will serve as a convention like atmosphere. This will take over the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia and allow closures to occur. The National Football League’s draft process is a waste of time and money because it doesn’t benefit the city nor the audience in attendance.

The NFL draft has seven rounds over the course of three days. Essentially, each team has one pick per round and in almost the same order. Sometimes teams trade their picks to one another for a higher pick, lower pick, or for current players. This means that teams may not have picks in a certain round which leaves their fans waiting until their next pick. Even during the actual draft, teams are allowed to trade their picks away to gain more picks or to move up in a spot where they can pick a certain player before another team can. “beyond the top pick, anyone watching only really cares about who their team chooses.  So the eager fan sits and listens to all the MC's who are just reading from media packets and speculating on the shape of a football for an hour while you wait for you team's pick.” (Brian Wolff, Bleacher Report) Fans are only watching the draft so they can see who their next star player will be to help fill a certain position on the team. They are eager to see when their pick is and the lead up to it. Just as their team is on the clock, the team trades away their pick. This causes for the fans to get upset to have to wait for when their team picks again. This may occur over and over again, until the pick actually is made. Once it is made, the excitement lasts for a short period of time. This is boring for everyone. Majority of the audience doesn’t care about the other selections. They only care about their own. Even when the fan’s team is on the clock, they still have a long period of time to wait until the pick is actually made. Not only that, but the broadcasters are still talking about the previous picks because now it is day three and they can’t keep up. The entire process is just boring and a waste of time.

Philadelphia is hosting the NFL draft in 2017. They are closing a major part of the city to allow the creation of the draft to happen. Having closures from this makes the traffic increase and gets the city’s population frustrated by what they are doing. There are already tons of construction happening in the city, so this is not helping anyone get to where they need to be any faster. A good portion of Philadelphia does not care for football even though the city has a huge fanbase for the Philadelphia Eagles. This means that the draft is irrelevant to them and is just making their commute worst. Not only all this, but it is costing Philadelphia a lot of money. “The city will shell out $500,000 for the 2017 NFL Draft Experience coming to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway this month. That’s only a fraction of the full cost of the event – an estimated $25 million. The NFL will cover $20 million, and the rest, $5 million, will come from private funding secured by the city.” (Claire Sasko, Philadelphia Magazine) The city of Philadelphia’s education is falling. The school district cannot afford their teachers’ salaries and has major budget cuts every year. Recently, a lot of schools have been closed because they couldn’t afford to stay open. The school district needs money for the children, and their education. Instead, the city of Philadelphia decides to host the NFL draft, and spend $500,000 on it. The city barely earns any of it back from revenue and loses it all in the process. Building the venue does not help either because the venue’s left over material won’t get recycled anywhere else. No education is being helped and not even construction is going faster. This is a waste of time for the other people of the city, and a waste of money for the city itself.

Not only is it a waste of time during the draft, but the lead up period as well. The fans aren’t the only ones participating the in draft by showing up and cheering for their team. There is a whole group of people for every team that is working long hours just to select a player a round, if they have that many picks. The General Manager and other personnel work long and hard to come up with a scheme of selecting the player that is right for them. Not only that, but scenarios in which other teams select their player before they can. The process is long and hard for these people. “The pre-draft excessiveness starts in January with the Senior Bowl, where each team sends its GM, scouting staff and coaching staff. Then in February comes the Combine, where teams send 35 or so employees to Indianapolis for an expensive week of flights, hotels and meal costs, all for an over-hyped event. Then in February comes the Combine, where teams send 35 or so employees to Indianapolis for an expensive week of flights, hotels and meal costs, all for an over-hyped event.” (Jeff Diamond, Ex- General Manager: Sportingnews.com) Teams are put to the test to which players they really want out of the draft. Their draft process is long and hard. They have 81 days until the draft after Super Bowl. The NBA only has 4  days after the finals. That is absurd that the scouts have to do all this research on a couple of players that they are picking. They are pushed to the limit to find the right guy. Even so, sometimes they have the perfect plan they developed and then all of a sudden, another teams do something no one expects and take the guys that this one team had planned for. Now they are all in panic mode and are screwed up. This entire process, for what, nothing. The entire time they are doing this and now they just end up not being able to do what they wanted to do. Even during the scouting process, it is a waste of money. They have to travel everywhere to meet with the guys and learn their skill. That isn’t free of charge. They have to pay for it. Altogether, this draft is a waste for both the fans, and the people behind the draft too.

The NFL draft is doesn’t benefit anyone due to it being a waste of time and money from both ends. The fans are bored waiting for their pick to happen and don’t care about the other teams. The cities hosting the event have to pay a big fee just to host it. It could be going towards other important things like education, but the decision is already made. Even the personnel behind the draft process for each team is bothered by this. They work long and hard to pick someone who isn’t on the draft board no more. The NFL draft is just a waste of time and money for everyone.

I believe that this was my best 2fer that I have ever written because I felt that I gave my all for it. Personally, writing 700 words is a lot when you think about it. For this 2fer, I took it to the next level and wrote 1300 words. More than a 2fer needs to be, but I had a lot to talk about considering I felt passionate about the subject. I will say that this 2fer is actually me playing devil’s advocate because I do enjoy watching the draft and going to it. I had to write an essay with a different point of view than my own which is the first time I did ever in a 2fer. Since I could produce a well done 2fer from someone’s opinion, I think that this my best 2fer because of it.

The Proposal to the Shrew

The Proposal to the Shrew

“The Taming of the Shrew” and “The Proposal”

As “The Taming of the Shrew” provides an example of deceptions within relationships within the 16th century. In the play, Petruchio sets to marry Katherine and doing so tames her to become something she isn’t. In “The Proposal”, the main character, Andrew, gets forced into a marriage that was for the benefit of his boss. This caused him to take control of the fake engagement. In both stories, the participants in both relationships fall in love.

Although Petruchio and Andrew chose to tame their finances, their reason of cause are quite different. Petruchio wanted Katherine to be a good wife. When he first met her, he knew of her inappropriate demeanor. Since then, he wanted her to mature into a wife to suit his needs as a husband and also to be in control of her. Andrew’s case is different from Petruchio. Andrew was forced into a marriage by Margaret due to her being deported. Once he found out, he knew he needed to set some ground rules in the “relationship” so he can get the things he want in return. These pieces reflect on how relationships accept deception throughout centuries, and because of this, relationships are only for control of the other party.

Earlier in this scene, Margaret, the editor of a big publishing company, was notified that she was being deported for going to an event in Frankford but having limited access with her visa. She had to think of a way of getting out of it. Her assistant, Andrew, approaches her about a client and that is when she comes up with an idea. She is going to marry Andrew so she can get a green card and be able to retain her job as editor. Her bosses were concerned that the marriage wasn’t real. That’s when she said, “We are two people who were not meant to fall in love, but we did.” Unlike Lucentio who sets out to marry Bianca by misleading her and everyone with disguises, Margaret puts herself and Andrew into a legal situation.

PETRUCHIO-

Be patient, gentlemen. I choose her for myself. If she and I be pleased, what's that to you? 'Tis bargained 'twixt us twain, being alone, That she shall still be curst in company. I tell you, 'tis incredible to believe How much she loves me. O, the kindest Kate! (2,1,321-326)

Petruchio is telling everyone that he and Katherine are getting married. Katherine in this time does not know it. She never agreed to marrying Petruchio. What actually happened is that Petruchio went to Baptista, Katherine’s father to arrange the marriage. He is the one who agreed upon the two to get married. This relates to “The Proposal” by Margaret arranging their marriage purely based upon the reason of her visa being revoked and having to go back to Canada. She later tells Andrew, but it is still deception within the relationship. Relating to each other, Petruchio is taking control in the relationship by starting the relationship with Katherine and Margaret is starts to control the relationship when she notifies her boss about it. The only difference is that Andrew finds out about the relationship and he takes control of it due to being unhappy about the incident.

HORTENSIO-

I promised we would be contributors And bear his charging of wooing whatsoe'er.

GREMIO-

And so we will, provided that he win her. (1,2,218-220)

Gremio and Hortensio are suitors trying to win over Katherine for her hand in marriage. While discussing being their potential husband, the two talk among themselves about how this marriage is just a business transaction. They realized that it is a whole scheme for her father the whole time. Back in that century, the father and son-in-law made the deals about the marriage without the daughter being involved. However, knowing this information, both Gremio and Hortensio want to pursue Katherine for themselves. In today’s world, the marriage isn’t determined by the parents in most places. However, in the proposal, Margaret was getting control over Andrew by making him marry her.

She was never intending to marry Andrew but things changed once she heard about her deportation. Since her deportation was severe, she is only doing this because she gets to retain her position as an editor at a big publisher company in New York. For Margaret to get Andrew to officially marry her, she would have to give him things he always wanted. Well threaten him with those things at least. In the screenshot above, this was Margaret asking Andrew to officially marry her because it was to his request as was other many things. Margaret was the one in control of the whole relationship, until Andrew backfired at her. He did not want to partake at all in this but ended up being the one in control. Throughout the film, Andrew deceives Margaret and treats her like she is worthless in his home to teach her to become a better human since she is a terrible person.

KATHERINE

Of all thy suitors, here I charge thee tell

Whom thou lov'st best. See thou dissemble not. (2,1,8-9)

When Bianca noticed that Katherine wanted her suitors but didn’t give much of a reaction to when she told Katherine no, it is clear that Katherine did not want to partake in a marriage at all. When Katherine does end up marrying Petruchio, it is clear to the audience that the whole marriage was a scheme and that Petruchio had all the control in the relationship. Katherine became mistreated by him, but he claims it was going to be good for her in the end. This is his way of taming her. Katherine is obviously stuck in the relationship, but when she does speak her mind throughout the book while being already married, Petruchio tells everyone that she is just going a little crazy and should ignore her. Somehow, everyone believes in Petruchio and ignores what happens. Petruchio is all in control and there is nothing to hide from it. It is seen to be clear to everyone. This relates back to the film. While arriving in Andrew’s hometown, he is greeted with a welcoming party. Little does everyone know, that are “engaged”.

During the party, everyone is asking their relationship. Both Margaret and Andrew get nervous because they are not actually getting married. Andrew takes dominance in the situation and tells everyone how it all happened. When Margaret tries to tell her point of view, Andrew cuts in and changes it. Andrew is trying to control Margaret and preventing her from being herself. Andrew doesn’t like the way she acts, so to fix her up, he needs to start the process at his welcoming party. He is showing dominance in the relationship and making her do what he says. Of course there is backlash, but he tames her to not give any more. Andrew relates to Petruchio in this way and likes to show dominance. Dominance is a big factor for these characters to be in control of their relationships.

Deception in relationships have been around for centuries upon centuries. In “The Taming of the Shrew” Petruchio compares to Andrew from “The Proposal” because of their alike attributes on wanting to be in control of relationships. They both support evidence for the only reason in being a relationship is for being in control of it. Having power in relationship shows dominance and that is what they both strive for in their own ways.

The Greatest of All Time Personal Essay

Posted by Gil Rosen in English 3 · Pahomov · A Band on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at 5:35 pm
My sister was waiting for me right down the street from where my new school was. It was late August and my new school wanted me to have three days of work inside the school before we actually started the year. I couldn’t believe how old I became. I was a freshman in high school. My sister and I met up right next to Trader Joe’s.   She looked at me and said “Hey, how was today? Did you meet any new people? How do you like the school so far?” I hate answering  these type of questions because they feel too broad and not specific enough for me to answer. My response was “Okay. Some. It’s fine I guess”. I never respond in a way that my sister ends satisfied. We walked towards city hall where we were going to take the el home. I never have taken public transportation before with one of my parents. It was going to be a whole new experience. We get on the el and sit down. It was around 1 o’clock so not many people were on. The entire ride I thought about how long the commute is. “Rachel, you do this every day, huh?” I asked. She answered in a sarcastic tone, “Yep, and you are too. Better start to like it.” We get off at the last stop, Frankford. “You’re going to need to remember that.” I sat there and thought about how my commute is going from a 5-10 walk to an hour train and bus ride.
We got off the el and walked down the steep, long staircase toward the bus. It was an easy process getting to the bus from the el. Go down the stairs, turn right and through the gated swivel door, go out the doors leading outside, and then turn left. The bus stop is right there. My sister and I walked up to the bus stop and waited for the bus. She looks at me, “This is the 58 bus. This will get you home. Any of the 58 buses will take you to our stop and even the express stops here. We will be getting off at Bergen St. That is our stop.” I looked at her and nodded my head. Nothing else was said because the bus drove up as she finished her sentence. We sat on the bus for a while. I thought the bus ride would never end it was so long. “Rachel, why is this ride so long? I feel like it shouldn’t be this slow.” I pondered. “Chill out, this is nothing. I do this all the time. Suck it up because you are going to do this for the next 4 years.” she uttered. We were slowly coming closer to our stop. She pulled the yellow wire to signal the bus to stop as my 5-10 minute commute would stop.
Transitioning from 9 years at one school to 3 out of 4 years at another has brought a big change in my life. Specifically, the teachers in my life because I started off with mediocre teachers and slowly progressed into having better teachers. Additionally, the teachers interact with me differently. Which influences why my relationships with teachers are very different. One specific teacher I had, her name was Ms. Jodi.  Ms. Jodi was an educator who wasn’t an actual teacher who regardless taught a class, but helped out around the school and supervised lunch and recess. Ms. Jodi would always hang out with my group of friends when it was our lunch period. She was closer to my friend Nick, but we were pretty close ourselves. During recess, we would never hang out with other kids in the hard cement, schoolyard. We would never do anything else like normal other kids because we thought we were cool and would choose to talk to Ms. Jodi all day. She was one of the coolest people I have ever met and it was sad when she wasn’t there for the last year I was at school.
I never had this kind of relationship with any of my real teachers. In middle school, they were just there to teach. Some were actually cool teachers, but I never had a real friendly relationship with them that I actually enjoyed. They were just more fun educators than the rest of the teaching staff. However, I was never close to any of them. They tried to connect to students and actually did with some. I just was never the kind of kid who became one of the ones who got close with any of the teachers that taught classes. I only became friendly with the other staff in the building whom helped out with the special ed or watched the kids during lunch. I never felt that the teachers could be “friends” with the students. The principal was even rough and never thought one could be friendly with the kids. I also imagined principals as strict people because that is what I grew up with. But coming to SLA was completely different.
Coming into SLA, really turned all of my previous perspectives on teachers around from middle school. The teachers are more personal and more charismatic with the students. Also being apart of an advisory for all 4 years in high school with the same advisor shows the development of how close with them you are. They are your school parent(s) and they treat you with respect and help you along the way. They also are there for you when you are going through tough times and when school is just too much for you. They really do have your back. I never experienced this in my old school in any sort of way. It really is a different experience for me and probably for most people coming into SLA.
One experience I’ve had with a teacher I remember specifically was during freshman year in the engineering class. I remember this moment like it was yesterday and it always reminds me of how awesome the teachers are in SLA. It was getting towards the end of Mr. VK’s reign at SLA. Soon Mr. Kamal will fill in the roll of the engineering teacher and remodel the entire program and class itself. VK had nothing for us to do that day so of course my friends and I fool around. We were freshmen so it’s nothing surprising. “Ok class, well since I have nothing for you to do today, you have a free work period.” We all were all in joy in the magical words he spoke of. Getting a “free period” is always something to celebrate especially when it is benchmark season. Of course I was anti-productive and did not work on any of my other classes’ assignments. Instead my friends and I fooled around and listened to obnoxious music out loud in class. VK, being the awesome guy he is, didn’t care about of music and made some jokes about it too. I felt that being in an environment such as SLA brings out the best of you and allows you to enjoy the work you are doing even if you go off task sometimes.
Growing up and transferring into new environments have huge impacts on one’s life. It is just mind blowing when thinking you can have a 5-minute commute turn into a long road trip that is an hour long each way every day. Sitting on the train and bus is something I did not look forward to as a change in my life but nowadays I am used to it. My life was different in middle school and coming into high school really changed me as a person, and a learner.

Cable began entering the home in the 1960’s, and since it has become one of the most popular ways to spend one’s time. With the invention of the internet, television has also moved to streaming online. There are many options nowadays to choose from when it comes to streaming television shows online. One such option is Netflix, one of the most popular online streaming websites in most households in America and around the world.  Netflix is better than cable television for the user because of its accessibility around the world and the cheaper prices.

Cable television around the world is expensive. Not all countries share the same television programming meaning  others may not be able to watch certain tv shows that they want to watch. Netflix is different from cable television. Netflix is global. “The key is Netflix's global expansion , which exploded in January when the company added 130 new countries in a single day, bringing the total to over 190.” (The Business Insider Other streaming websites don’t even compare when it comes to the globalization that the networks have. For example, Hulu is only available in the United States and Japan as of today. The expansion of Netflix around the world is what allows the company to dominate over its competitors, including cable and other online streaming options. While cable television can be found around the world, Netflix is cheaper and a more accessible source of watching everyone’s favorite shows.

The model of cable television has been sleeping for a long time. When it comes to choosing a network to watch a favorite show the decision can be irritatingly difficult because of the few, forced cable networks that are offered in the United States. Whether it is Xfinity, Verizon Fios, or DirectTV, no one gets the best value for their money. The high prices for these networks can be outrageous most of the time. “Consider the case of Netflix, whose streaming service blends original programing with feature films and documentaries, much like HBO.  However, although Netflix charges less, the company earns roughly the same per subscriber because it does not have to pay fees to cable providers.” (Forbes) Netflix is doing something right when it doesn’t have the forced deals and random spikes in monthly cost on a cable bill. Netflix is only charging its users typically $9.99 a month for a wide blend of movies, tv, and documentaries right at everyone’s fingertips. Every month, Netflix adds new movies and slowly get rids of the movies and tv that have been on the streaming site for a long period of time. It keeps itself current with all of the best shows and movies. Netflix even offers exclusive content that is owned by Netflix itself. Also Netflix keeps updating its shows and other shows in a season worth so anyone can enjoy their shows right away. If someone’s show season isn’t updated, then start a new one!

Netflix is one of the most popular way of streaming movies and television shows directly online for its users to watch. It is also one of the biggest companies in the world with growth and expansion with online streaming. “Netflix had announced that it had thirty-one million subscribers in the United States… Netflix accounts for more than thirty per cent of all Internet down-streaming traffic in North America… The Netflix Web site describes the company as “the world’s leading Internet television network.” (The New Yorker) Netflix over the years has become one of the biggest ways of watching television shows. Online streaming is also becoming the newest “21st century” way of living nowadays so it got its hit from that. Having many shows that people love and ones that have been critical hits over the years. It is earning so much money because of the way it is creating a fan base. . Netflix is one its game and it is definitely better than cable television.

When asked, everyone who watches television shows might say that cable television is better, But on closer inspection, Netflix is the better choice for watching favorite tv shows. Cable television has been slowly decreasing in its users in recent years and while on the other hand the internet has been exploding uses. Netflix is global with so many subscribers compared to other streaming networks and cabhat is one tenth of money someone is spending. As a result, it will keep growing from here because it represents the future of television.

  2. What’s your reading weak spot? If it doesn’t catch her attention immediately, she can’t continue with the book and stops reading it all together.
  3. What book would you toss out the window? Modelland by Tyra Banks, because it was confusing, weird, and she never knew what was happening.
  4. If your life was a book title, what book title would it be? She would be “It’s kind of a funny story” because the title fits her.

Untitled-1
Untitled-1
In 1868, the KKK started to spread through out the United States of America. At this point of time in the nation, they were rebuilding to construct the government again. Also the buildings were already destroyed and the KKK did not help that. America did not need this kind of thing at this period of time. KKK makes the lives of all Americans in this year worse than it can be. Also they killed people they didn't like, it was bad.

Since all this, I thought I would make a poster about this situation. About how this nation needs to know about the terrible things the KKK have been doing that have to be stopped immediately. They are hurting the country and are not needed at this point in time. I mentioned that they should come to the towns meeting so we can discuss the problems. Since this was a while ago, there was no social media.

So this is my visual project of reconstruction.

Q3 ART REFLECTION?

a) I feel that I accomplished the side wall with the window the best and I really like it compared to everything else.
b) I would change the wall facing towards you because it is a bit big.
c) I really like Syndye's drawing. She made the wall facing towards the door leading towards outside and with the sinks. It was successful because how descriptive it was.
d) What I learn from the one point perspective drawing is that the drawing looks a lot better with a vanishing point.

Why is it important for teens to know net neutrality? Well I do! By: Gil Rosen

Posted by Gil Rosen in Technology- Freshmen - Hull - y2 on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 7:56 am
Why is net neutrality important for teens to know about?

It is important for teens to know about net neutrality because they should be able to know what is happening to their internet use. Net neutrality should be spoken out to everyone especially teens. Teens probably complain about their internet being slow the most. Teens need the internet speed more than adults for casual use. More adults are patient than teens are.

Teens need to speak up and be the future guidance in the future for equal rights. The teens today are the future adults that need to take charge about their internet. Teens love WiFi and the internet more than anything they own. Speed is key to the teens so they should know that their ISP's are taking charge about their internet that the families are paying for.

As an ISP you can't just block certain websites and slow others down. It is just not right for ISPs to slow down the websites teens love. This is why teens need to know about net neutrality. They can't take the slowness that the ISPs are giving them, it is just not right. So I hope teens now know why it is important to know about neutrality and they take action on the things they love, internet speed.

New and Improved Slide (Gil Rosen)

Posted by Gil Rosen in Technology- Freshmen - Hull - y2 on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 9:57 am
NEW AND IMPROVED Computers are life
The resources I used about making this slide is Presentation Zen. I used that resource to make it nice and simple and let both the words and image pop out. What I changed from my previous slide is the wording I did. I made the message more simple and this way it made the words better too and let it pop out more than it was before. I moved image of the computer more to the middle so it was leaving a panel to the side and both sides are almost equal so it looks good that way. This whole experience helped me for future projects I might do here and if I become a graphic designer these were good tips.

My Slide (Gil {Bob} Rosen)

Posted by Gil Rosen in Technology- Freshmen - Hull - y2 on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at 9:49 am
This slide that I designed is truly about me. My whole life besides school in centered around my computer. What my slide is trying to explain is that in today's world, our life are centered around these beautiful, magnificent machines that you can do anything you can dream of. What influenced me to make my designed like this is the examples you showed us. Why I chose to make it like this is the fact that it is clean and simple and explains me in one little sentence. I feel that everyone owns a computer in some sort of way, but if you don't for some reason, you need one or you just can't live in today's society. So if you don't own a computer, get a life and buy one. (Unless you are broke and homeless)

Home Network, Rosen

Posted by Gil Rosen in Technology- Freshmen - Hull - y2 on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 11:15 am
mind mapping software
1. My L.A.N. Network is with Comcast. I have a modem AND router. It is not a all-in-one. What is on my home network aka WiFi are my computer, 3 laptops (including this one), 4 iPhones and 2 iPods, a wireless printer, my PS3, and my mom's kindle.

2. What I learned about home networks is that they are really expensive. Also how many things are on MY network because I have a lot of things. The policy here is really strict here even though most people find a way out of it.

3. What I would teach people about home networks are that they cost money even though you can go certain places for free. I wouldn't recommend that because they some things blocked or you go on inappropriate sites so that is not good if you are not on your own network.
