Baked Mac
I dont have the exact formula from the dome but it goes something like this:
Macaroni
Cheddar cheese
American Cheese
Other cheese
Butter
sour cream
Other stuff im missing.
1. Shred Cheese
2. Boil noodles
3. Mix sour cream and butter and other stuff.
4. stagger mac and mix in pan.
5. bake it
6. baked mac
So macaroni is just grain and most cheeses are just salt and milk which is separated. Sour cream is just spoiled cream, butter is also just salt and milk. Come to think of it, there really isnt much to this dish. Its all 100% processed. The salt content here is cray cray. The only thing saving you is the absorbency of the macaroni and the deliciousness of the dish as a whole. The wheat to make the dough to make the macaroni was probably organically grown, whatever that means. There arnt many salt mines in the us, in fact it probably came from pakistan. cheese is made in the Us. Wisconsin is famous as the cheese state. Overall the meal is medium to produce. Compared to other common soul food meals, greens, string beans, beans etc, which only really take one ingredient and then spices, macaroni has a few ingredients. Macaroni is pretty cheep, cheese isnt though. getting enough to make a full thing of macaroni cost a bit.
Reflection
I learned about in depth about what I already new: the food I eat is weird and bad in so many ways. These ways include being horizontally engineered somehow from corn or beans. I had heard somewhere that corn was the miracle seed, but I didnt know why until I saw the video about it.
Generally, thanks to this unit I am disgusted at the meat industry. Lust for profit makes poorly raised cattle and chicken end up on my darn dinner plate. I learned how many things actually go on and in my meat before it gets to me, like insecticides, chemicals too numerous and confusing to name, poo (seriously?) and worst of all, corn!
What else did we do... oh yea. Diabetes is bad for me. I dont have it yet, but I might in the future because my diet is high in sugar. But that's not all my fault, sugary stuff tastes great and is readily available almost everywhere. Also, our ancestors have evolved so that we are attracted to sweet stuff.
Also the brain. Crazy stuff.

Finished Product
My project is a modified water bottle that lights at the hand strap. The battery rests covered between your hand space and the lights/strap. The lighting mechanism is the cap. When the cap is in an open position it turns on. I choose to do this because a lot of other people stole my ideas before I could plan them. My bottle was nearby and I got a quick bit of inspiration.
Code switching is necessary. At least, that’s what’s gotten me this far. Is it a skill? Probably. Something to acquire and become good at. I’ve always been pretty good with words – a silver tongue it’s called.
“Ay ma, what’s for eat up in here?”
“I already ate. You betta find somethin in here for you starve. You better not go to bed hungry, boy, It aint good for you.”
“Aight mom, I won’t”
“We got some fries you can whip up right quick”
“Aint that what we had yesterday?”
“I don’t even want to hear complaints. It be people in Africa that would eat fries every night.”
“Ugh. I know mom. Fine I will.”
It’s an interesting thing, slang. One can’t be bad at it. The simpler it gets, the easier it is to get the main point across. That is of course, if the person in the conversation is a patron of partial English too. It’s picked up easy, and it’s unique because a deliberate effort is needed to abolish it completely unless one was never influenced by it in the first place. Its staying power is offset by its lack of compulsion. What I mean is, it’s hard for a person that speaks “proper” English (i.e White people) to demote to slang. When talking “proper” it feels irreverently inconvenient. Most words that are effectively condensed in slang feel too deliberate and imposing, almost arrogant to be used in intimate or casual talk.
Unless of course, one is adept at code switching. It’s no longer about “acting white” or “being black”. It’s about getting what, (and who) you want using the right language. As James Baldwin said in his essay “If black English isn’t a language, then tell me, what is?”, …”The price for this is the acceptance, and achievement, of one's temporal identity”. It doesn’t feel natural- to code switch I mean. Or rather it is much more comfortable to stick to one dialect, tone, language, theme, even status quo. For the price of leaving my inner comfort I can excel much better than I ever could restraining to my “Black English”. Not to say Black English is restricting, although, due to specific reasons it should not be used outside of intimate conversation.
When I was young, 5 or 6, everyone spoke it- Black English I mean. I was home within my comfort zone. I had not been exposed to anything else. Back then It was fine to have one mindset, one code, and to be ignorant of any other was not only acceptable, but sadly widespread within my community. At that age, of course, my community did not consist of many people outside of my family. Then there was school. School is a place where solitude was only obtainable through great effort. There was always a curious boy or girl who wanted to know what another name. To my credit, I wasn’t the least bit shy. If I was I most likely would not have the skills I do. I probably wouldn’t even attend the school I do now.
When I got a little older, I started to realize just how important code switching was. I was about 9 or 10 when I saw just how “clicks” formed. Similar people grouping together to for stable community inside one dysfunctional one. I noticed how different they were. Separated by music choice, neighborhoods, earlier childhood relations, even as general as gender. Usually one would blend into one that fit his or her category. Not me. Now 12 and 13 I watched, observed the wildlife in their artificial habitat.
"No, I’m not. Who are you to tell me what I’m supposed to be?" That's what my eyebrow said, arching like a frightened cat. I'd heard it many times before but never in a serious way. It was always in a joking manner, a manner that got old after the six-thousandth or seven-thousandth time- I lost count. It was cold in the counselor’s office, a small room on the second floor of my aging school. It was also unbearably quiet. Usually the sound of my kind, and mild mannered counselor hard at work would restore a comfortable volume. Not now though, as it was only my 5th grade teacher and I facing off about the recent drop in my GPA.
I don’t know where or when my last name came from, but it must have stuck considering no one decided to change it. I can understand why though, I mean it’s and awesome name to have! It never gets old to see the
awkward “really?” face people make when I introduce myself. And on rare occasions, when people assume I misspoke meaning “Beast”, “bet” or my favorite, “Brest”. And the puns… the endless, puns. Always from older people though, rarely from kids my age. I think we realize how lame it is to make fun of someone’s name especially when it’s not even really all that impressive. I wonder if my ancestors faced the same thing.
I guess I can’t blame them. They’re just trying to get a quick yuck and maybe cheer me up in the process. Not this time though, I could tell in his eyes that this was for real. He actually expected me to somehow be better then everyone else in my class! As if my name somehow had supernatural powers to affect the universe. What a joke! Does a guy named Miller have to love beer or work a textile? What about a black guy named White, or a white guy named Black? Or a depressed person named Feelgood! I wanted to give him a huge chunk of my mind after a long speech about how “I’m better than how I’m performing” and how he “sees great things in me”. But all that managed to stumble from my lips was a humble
“Okay”.
I suppose an unrecognized sense of title comes with one’s name. Studies show that a name is automatically considered in a persons natural stereotyping. I’m not saying racism is natural, but what I am saying is that you must be aware of how people see you and of first impressions. Don’t allow yourself to be bottled within your own title, but instead force people to see you for what you do instead of what your called.

I liked the first slide I made, but I couldn't fight the feeling that there was something missing. I added a picture of myself. I thought that the contrast on the old slide was an overload of color, so I toned it down some. I made a more unique font, with a single poppable color. I took out the pie chart because it was just too much information at once.
I used contrast in the yellow words on red background. I used empty space where there is nothing in the upper-left and kinda rule of thirds in my picture. I used 3 different colors not including the picture.
