Isaiah's Slide

Posted by Isaiah Cuffey in Technology- Freshmen - Hull - y1 on Monday, November 24, 2014 at 10:43 am

I wanted my slide to tell a general idea or thought about my existence. I didn't want the slide to be too busy, so I left a lot of space open to catch people’s eye. The slide has a dark looking background, so I added more light to the picture and made the title a light color and a large text size for more contrast. The slide has more visual parts than text parts because when I brainstormed I decided I wanted to make the slide like a movie preview. Movie previews don’t spoil the whole movie,so they give as little information as possible to make people want more. The background took some time to make, but I decided to make the background a picture of me looking into a forest. The forest represents ominous and unpredictable events, while I just take it all in. The movie preview The Maze Runner inspired this background theme,so I just went with it. The title itself supports the background and the tension that’s emanates from the big picture. The background bleeds off of the slide, making the background look bigger than it actually is. The slide as a whole will need work, but this is a good start for me.

D-Squad Slide

Posted by Desarae Gilbert in Technology- Freshmen - Hull - y1 on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at 7:33 pm

My slide looks the way it does because as soon as you see it you see the American flag. It shows a lot about me already, but when you read the words it says even more. The words are basically music that I like, where I'm from and other words that mean a lot to me. They are important to the layout because everything I love makes up who i am and so does the American flag. I am from Georgia and so is my whole family so it represents a lot. I chose the background color to be burgundy because I love that color and it was the only one that looked right behind red, white and blue colored text. I stuck to a darker background because it looks more appealing than multiple bright colors in one spot since the words I used are very light. Zach Holman inspired me to use big text so you can read it from afar but enough words for it to be informative. I tried to make this slide look creative in a simple way with help from Presentation Zen.

K8 ME Slide

ME Slide
PLEASE CLICK AND ENLARGE THE PICTURE TO TRULY UNDERSTAND MY SLIDE!

I made the slide the way it is because at a quick glance you can understand some things about me, and it is also visually appealing. I worked with a program to form words into an image, in this case a cube. I picked a cube because cubes are equal on all sides, and I think my personality is pretty balanced in its aspects like a cube. Also I made certain words bigger that represented some of my history and culture, such as myself, jewish, massachusetts, and SLA so that even if people can only look at it at a glance they can still get some idea of me. All of the words I picked represents some part of me and together they say who I am. Being Jewish is a big part of my culture, even though I’m also agnostic I still celebrate a lot of the holidays and had a bat mitzvah. I was born in Massachusetts and it’s one of my favorite places, I love the sports teams and the cities.

For the design I tried to use a lot of the suggestions from the articles. I chose the color palette specifically so it would be bright and pop out from the dark black background, I thought the contrast would look nice. Also the contrast would help you read the text. I made the text as big and used it as a main part of the design because then you can read it easily and it maintains the simple design of one point per slide. I also tried to make sure the slide wasn’t crowded, I made a simple design and didn’t make it too big. One big aspect I tried to do was to create a simple and elegant design that showed me. I feel like this slide fills my wishes.

N@ SLIDE

I created this slide to show my overarching passion for visual arts, I then added the small texts embedded in the pencil to show what drives me to create. I decided to make the colors contrasting but slightly ostentatious, to capture the eye. I then differed the size of text to allow more variation within the simple design. I decided to state or share a very obvious idea but in doing so, showered it with a lot more complex and deeper information. I pulled a lot from Zach Holman’s color palette and choice of design but in doing so I added my own touch (hopefully). My design consists of a large visually depiction of a pencil, it is made entirely of smaller words that describe my personal life. I chose a pencil because doodling and visual arts are some of my favorite activities, I then gave an array of single words describing me, my home life, and my interests. The order of the different components are in no real significance because they all have seemingly equal significance.

Explain your L.A.N. Local Area Network - all the devices on your internet connection. Take this from the 1st assignment, when I sent you home to list the parts of your network.

-The devices that are connected to my internet connection is 1 tablet , 4 computers, 2 xbo 360 , 1 wii console, 4 phones, 1 smart tv, & 1 printer

Reflect on what you learned about networks, did you have an OMG moment that you learned something new and interesting? if so write about what you learned. what would you tell other people that they need to know about having an ISP/Home network?

- Something that i did not know about home networks that if you are using school internet you must use there internet only no other hotspots or interne connections.  Something that i would teach people about there home network is that everything is connected and nothing can be delted. Even though you clicked the delete button it still can be pulled up and effect your future

Home Network, Hardin

My local area network is Verizon Fios. All the devices on my internet connection are four cellphones, three televisions, and four computers. What i learned bout networks Was that there is more processing that goes into circulating the entire network than we believe. The OMG moment I had was finding out the amount of money spent a year on the cable and wifi. What I believe others should know about their ISP is the amount of money that their parents are sending for something that doesnt seem like it takes much to function and get access to.

Home Network, Mack

1. My devices that are connected to the internet is 3 iphones, 3 ipads, 3 ipods, a playstation 3, 3 laptops, and a printer. The internet provider is Comcast and the internet cable comes through my parent's room on the second floor to a coax cable that connects to a modem. I then have a wireless router.

2.I learned that the router doesn't have to be connected to the modem. I also learned that it takes a lot of wires to connect to the internet than it looks like.

3.I would tell other people that when you are ready to have internet, make sure you have a good spot to put all the wires at because you would want  place where you could have wifi connection from everywhere in your house.

Home Network, Schwingel-Sauer

1. All of the devices connected to the internet connection at my house, my Local Area Network, are: four iPhones (my mom's, dad's, sister's and mine), my sister's laptop, my dad's laptop, my laptop, Roku, and a Wii. My internet service provider is Comcast and my enters my house through a coaxial cable into the office. It is connected with an ethernet cable to a modem router.

2. Something new and interesting that I found when we learned about networks was that one file can go through so many portals through the network just to get to a final destination. The really crazy part though is how fast it happens.

3. What other people need to know about having an Internet Service Provider and Home Networks is that the person who pays for the internet owns the network you connect to at a certain place. They may have certain rules in the Acceptable Use Policy that may be important to know even if the AUP is very long.

2. My L.A.N connects from my ISP, that gives me internet in my house. Our ISP give internet to our modem that connects to our router through a coax wire. Our router gives wifi for our house. On the wifi, there are 5 phones, 3 laptops, 3 tablets, a mac mini, an xbox one, and a ps3.

3. I learned that there are many different things that has the be processed before you can get access to a website. It takes less than a second for it all to process which is really fascinating to me. I didn't realized it had to go through lots of stages to access something on the internet.

4. I would tell people that each ISP/Home network have rules also. If they don't follow the rules that are given they can be in big trouble. I would also remind them that whatever they upload on the internet will never be deleted even if you delete the file on your device.
