Reflection

1. Negative space is blank, unused space surrounding an object.

2. In my stool drawing, I found negative space by coloring in the drawing, and leaving the rest of the paper blank.

3. It helps an artist to see in negtive space because there is nothing blocking the view of the object.

4. It is useful in creating art because sometimes you only want to make one object. And you want that object to be as clear as possible.

Final Perspective Drawing

a. What is one thing that your learned specifically that you did not know before?

One thing I learned from this project is what drawing something really takes. It takes time. It takes countless eraser strokes and even more pencil lines. The lesson is not about the end result, but like in life, learning from your mistakes. The one point perspective makes it look like you are standing in the classroom taking a picture.

b. How did leaning this thing make your drawings better?

Learning this made my drawing better because I was not afraid of making a mistake. Since I was little, I was scared of messing up my drawing. I knew that  I could easily erase, but  I wanted to be like professionals, never knowing that they messed up too.

c. If you did this assignment again, what would you do differently?

If I did this assignment again, I would  start with a 12 inch horizontal line 5-7 inches from the top of the paper. When I messed up  it was usually when I started the drawing. I take a long time to draw something so I would also organize better.

d. What is your advice to someone who has never drawn a one point perspective drawing before?

My advice to someone who has never drawn a one point perspective drawing before is: before you draw an object figure out which line is which (horizontal, vertical, or perspective lines).

e. What resource helped you the most and why?

The resource that helped me the most  is this site:

http://www.bramhaa.com/draw-it-all-%E2%80%93-one-point-perspective-for-beginners-in-animation/691

They showed one two and three point perspectives, and explained how to draw one point perspective.

Negative Space

In this unit, we learned about negative space. For our final project,we had a picture and we were to recreate the whole picture and use negative space.

Negative space, as I learned this unit, is the space around the subject of a picture, painting, or basically, any kind of artwork.

In my cut out, I found that my my subject was a tree. I was then able to find that everything surrounding the tree and the space in between the holes of the tree was the negative space. Because of the negative space, I saw how defined the tree was and that helped me figure out where pieces belonged in order to bring the whole picture together.

When seeing negative space, you get to truly see the subject. You get to notice the details and see how defined the artwork is.

Negative space is very useful! It brings your whole piece together. It allows spectators to focus on the subject and not anything else. Negative space makes the piece beautiful.

Negative Space

What is negative space?

Negative space is anything that creating the object/image or out lining the object that is black.

Explain how you found negative space in your 1. your cut out? 2 in your stool drawing?
Negative space was around the object and inside the object I took what ever that would define the house and I was able to flip sertain peices of the house to make it look like one full house. In my stool drawing I drew all the space around and in the object to make that drawing.

Why does it help an artist to see in negative space?
It helps and artist to see in negative space to define their art and create a clear image of what they are drawing.

How is negative space useful in creating art?

Negative space is useful in creating art because negative space can define you art and it can also mess up your art if you have to much negative space.

1. A negative space is the space around and between an object, of an image.

2.One should use negative space so it can enhance  It cab affect the overall "composition" of your art work.  It can also greatly improve your ability to create more successful pieces of artwork.

3. Negative space can be used in photography because it is a concept that's been used in art, design, architecture, and sculpture for hundreds of years. It's equally useful in photography, and can be used to turn an average photo into an outstanding one.One can use it to see shapes and sizes more effectively, and produce better images and pictures.

4.  The best way to take advantage of negative space is by when we have to design something that’s difficult or something that’s not very familiar to us. Pretend that you have the lovely task of drawing your grandmother’s beautiful, wrinkly feet. Rather than focusing on the details, such as the wrinkles, toes, and nails, start looking at the unfamiliar negative spaces, such as the spaces between her toes, the distance from the ground of each toe. This will make the most regular things seem more unique and better.

5. We can see the chair on page 34, even though it is actually not drawn because the frame outside of it is what they have drawn not the object itself but the things around. Creating the same image but in a different and more special way; that you technically don't even make!

Negative space is the space around an object. In another drawing I did of a stool on a table with a latter and plant, I found negative space by coloring it in around the objects to form them. An artist can benefit in seeing negative space because it lets them see some images in different perspectives. Negative space is useful in creating art because you can use it to put more focus on an object and it makes it look better.

A. What is negative space (explain this concept to a fourth grader that has never heard of it)

Negative space is the space around a subject in a image.

B. Explain how you found negative space in your 1. your cut out? 2 in your stool drawing?

I found the negative space in my cut out by finding the space that was outside the tree the I cut out.  In my stool drawing it was the same as my cut out.  I founf the space outside the stool and lamp.

C. Why does it help an artist to see in negative space?

It helps when an artist can see in negative space becasue it can help the person who is looking at the art to get a better undersanding at what they are looking at.

D.  How is negative space useful in creating art?

Negative space is useful in creating art because it helps make the drawing look better.

Negative Space cut out reflection

Posted by Makhi Richburg in Art - Freshman - Hull - b1 on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 10:06 pm

What is negative space?
Negative space is the space around the object of a picture.
Explain how you found negative space in 1. your cut out?, 2. in your stool drawing?
Well we started out with half of an art piece and we cut out layers of it. The first layer was determined to be on one side of the paper and the second was on the other and the space the was missing for each layer was negative and made a full picture.
In the stool drawing i just shaded every part of the paper except a certain area which made a stool out of negative space.
How is negative space useful in creating art?
It can be used for balance or making clever negative spacing art.

1. Negative space is all of the space around the subject of an image. AN example is if you have a picture of a plane flying through the sky, then the subject would be the plane and the negative space would be all of the sky around it.

2. I found negative space in my cut out by tracing each color to use as the subject of either side, and in my drawings by combining different sketches and erasing the boundaries in order to create one solid looking blank spot.

3. It is useful for an artist to be able to see negative space because it allows them to make drawings with a clearer message, and so that they don't end up painting just a blob of prime colors.

4. Negative space is useful in art because it clearly contrasts between the subject and the background.
