Been Fear

Posted by Koule Doucoure in English 2 · Pahomov · C Band on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 2:44 pm

In the story of “Lord of the flies” by William Golding the author tells a story of a group of young boys who on a journey on a plane and they crashed into a deserted island, although many died, a couple survived. They find themselves on an island with no adults. They were having trouble getting civilized which makes them having different images such as thinking about things that do not survive or die such as beast and so on. Each one of them has their own rules for their own selves until the time came for voting for a leader. Piggy was a boy who plays multiple roles in the story, more than everybody else, and Ralph was a friend who does what Piggy told him because he wants to be a leader and Piggy has a better knowledge on survival skills which is needed on the island. Fear is something that people feel when they are afraid or feel danger at some point and is a dependant upon the amount of respect given to you by the community around you. In today’s world, fear is like a fundament deeply wired reactions to people. They are the type of imagination that people think could happen such as choosing or making up ideas that don’t exist.

In the book chapter 6 “Lord of the Flies” by William Golding the quote says --“In the darkness of early morning there were noises by the rock a little way down the side of the mountain. Tow boys rolled out a pile of brushwood and dead leaves, two dim shadows talking sleepily to each other…. Now they approach the darker smudge that had been the signal fire, yawing, rubbing their eyes, treading with practiced feet. When they reached it they stopped yawning, and one ran quickly back for brushwood and leaves.” (96) This shows that the boys feel fear because they were in the dark doing something when a figure heats in the tree. They thought it was a beast because it was in the night and they couldn't think of anything just only a beast because they scaring their own selves. In the real world, people in the village, if the people really wanted to become a leader the person needs to know all of their expectation about been a leader. Piggy was the person who gave Ralph advice and he can still be a leader by listening to someone. In the village, the people can just be leaders by listening to someone the person needs to think about what the person is responsible for and know your rights. According to the website president Trump wanted to be a leader but he doesn't know his rules he just made up anything, this site was talking about he was preparing for wars in North Korea. Later on, he sends a message to asked the Korean people to meet to avid the Backlash. In the book, Piggy was preparing for a leadership role while he knows what to do, he was giving advice to Ralph on how to be a leader. Piggy was the person who decides the better one but no one wanted to listen to him all they know is teasing him. This gives him the disadvantage because with this he has little to no chance of taking the leadership role.

In chapter 8 “Lord of the Flies” by William Golding this quote says, “Son was crying out something about a dead man on a hill.” kill the beast! Cut the throat! Spills his blood! Do him in!” (114) This quote is showing that Simon knows the truth about the beast and why all of these random events take place on the island. He quickly ran back to go tell his people but Jack was having a celebration in the night and the heavy storm started. Simon came there he was about to talk but they didn't know that was Simon. They felt fear and beat him up which leads to his death. In the real world, in the village people feel the same thing but it doesn't cause them to hunt each other for no reason because feel fear like what they did to Simon in the story. At some point, people feel fear like the little kids in the story but the elders do not mind them they just keep on going like Ralph who doesn't mind other kids who fear of the beast. According to the website is talking about how shooting affects people’s lives from taking away other people’s life. In the novel the kids feel fear whenever they hear or see something scary they get time to talk to Ralph when he was informing them that they were no beast on the Island; this is the same as guns if people understand the struggling of shooting other people’s life they feel shocked, worried and anxious they feel their lives were going to be taken away they get time to talk to people for help in order to get rid of the anger in themselves.

In my conclusion the novel of the Lord of the Flies when the people compared it to the real world connection it can stands to a lot of things for example when they take Simon as leader, Piggy can be like a student who gets bullied in school and Jack can be as a student bullier that scared the student all of the time and the Littluns can be the students in school who just do what they were asked for because they all from a school so that can basically have some connection with school properties. Piggy doesn't earn much respect as a person on the island due to the way he looks and carries himself. On the other hand, Ralph earns respect from the group of boys because he speaks his mind, although Piggy gives him most of the ideas. Also, look at Jack who gains most of the respective through placing fear into the other boys.

Monologue

Chayla, I am sick and tired of you. Why won't you  just leave me alone. I am really comfortable about the way I look because that's how God created me, so I don't have anything to say about it. You are always judging  me about how I look. Like what the hell? What is your problem?  Dang like omg “You black as sh*t” yup, that’s what you always call me. I feel like is there any blacks kids that you can mess with beside me.  I feel so angry to myself, like I feel like to explode right this second. I need to get the hell away from you.

Ugh, I can't believe I exploded like that, but she crossed the line. My mom told me  not to let them get above me because they are just looking for problems or they just wanted to make me stop doing my work. But this is getting difficult and it cant over. I can't take it anymore because this hatred is annoying. Nothing is more annoying than this. Even if am the darkest person the world, it doesn't have to do nothing about you.  Wait! let me call you that, how is you going to feel? Who the hell do you think you are! Saying all these racist stuff to, to yourself! Because not to me, so you better go find your mate outside. You irk my soul every single day. Her stupid self going to come in class talking about other racist and stuff and she know that I am always freaking mad about it.

The worst part is… she saw how I felt . She knows that I really wanted to become a light skinned girl. I was thinking so bad about what to do to her but i feel like I should just ignore and focus on my work, and become successful.. Come on focus! Stop thinking, I try but is hard for me to stop thinking about all the terrible stuff. But like why am I focusing myself to some stupid people who don't even know nothing or think about their future life because if i keep  thinking about doing terrible things in my life this is going to ruin my future.

You is the worst person that I ever met in my life. I complained to my teacher about you but guess what they don't care about what the haters be saying. I get your back I  will let the office know about it. My mother always tell me stories about people like that. At first i thought she was just kidding. Later her speech became true, like it happened in real life. Why am I thinking about killing myself because of people talk  about me? I don't care about the other students.

Me and My Mom

Posted by Koule Doucoure in English 2 · Pahomov · C Band on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 10:26 am

A lot of people asked me “How old are you?” and that’s annoying sometimes, even today.

For example, One day a few weeks ago I was in a store with my mom on 52nd street.

As soon as we walked in the cashier stared at us.

“Is that your daughter or a sister?” He asked.

“Why?” The question made me feel shy.

My mom answered, “What you think?”

The cashier didn't say anything.

Mom said, “ It’s my daughter.”

That’s why I don’t want to be in the store with my mom or dad because I'm too tall and they look young.

I just looked at people sometimes, if they asked me random questions we don't even answer their question sometimes. Some people will just be like

"What! That's not your daughter because you look young for having her.” I just stared at them without saying anything. Anytime me and my mom when to the store they keep asking the same exact question.

One day when me and my mom went to a store on 69th street. This man stared at me so hard and I was looking at him like what happened! he asked my mom in

"Is that your daughter?" he asked my mom in Madingo.

My mom [laughs.]

She said, "Why?"

"Because of y'all look alike and have the same reactions.” He answered.

She [laughed]

"No is a sister."

"Are you sure about it." He asked.

"Yes ma'am." She answered.

whenever Malinen people saw me outside they be thinking about getting married to them. They thought like I'm 18-20 years old. Like I’m only 14 years old, I'm just tall. When they try to talk to me I just ignore them. Some of the people even went to see my mom about me.

My mom [laughs.] anytime they want to talk to her about me because they wanted to marry me.

I was going to my aunt's wedding. When I went there in the afternoon one of my aunt asked me to passed the food to the guy waiting outside in the car. I took the food and passed it to him.

"What is your name?" He asked

I looked at him [laughs]

"My name is Koule." I answered.

He responded, "Okay"

When I walked away, knew why he asked me that.

In a few days after the wedding, my aunt told me that someone said they like me for marriage and I was like “What! So I just ignored her because that was going to make me think about something I don't want to be interested in.

My mom feels bad about me for taking her personality because I copied everything from her. She was so confused about how people come to house wanted to marry me. They called my mom from Africa asking for marriage and  I was like, “I’m just 14 years old, leave me alone and I'm not getting married to nobody until I finished school!”

Sometimes I feel like going to the hospital to cut my legs off because of people. I don't want to be with my mom because we look like sister next to each other.

That's not the only thing people were asking me about. Some people judging me about how tall I’ am in general. Whenever I heard people talking about me I said,

"You are just jealous of me because I'm taller than you."

I learned about people think about "When you are tall, you are old." That makes me feel bad about myself. It also makes me feel different with others around me, anytime I looked at them I look at myself.
