My Fav Benchmark
My favorite statistics benchmark was most definitely the first
quarter benchmark. This benchmark was about calculating the consumer price
index of various supermarkets all over Philadelphia. This
was a group project, and my group members were Michael Kelly and Mary
Altamuro. The stores we obtained all of our information from were
Thrift Way N’ Shoppin’ Bag, Acme, and Pathmark. This project helped us by
letting us use univariate and bivariate data. We were able to use
mean, median, mode, Q1 and Q3 and range to calculate the difference in prices
between the stores and figure out which store was the cheapest. This
project is my favorite because I was able to do much more for my group than in
any other project. I was able to go to the stores and check out the
prices for the items we picked out and calculate the percentages and prove it
using histograms and pie charts. This benchmark has also laid
important groundwork for me to continue on in statistics. It taught
me about all of the things I mentioned above, (Mean, median, mode, etc.). It
also taught me the proper usage of histograms, stem-leaf plots, and box-whisker
plots. Finally, I was able to learn some outside world experience
from this. I learned that all stores are not the same. Sometimes prices
differ because of the brands of food or just because of where it is sold. I
noticed that the same items that were sold at Acme and Shop rite were
considerably lower than the items sold at the Fresh Grocer. We connected this
to the neighborhood the Fresh Grocer was in. Stores in wealthy neighborhood
tend to have higher prices.
Research: I researched information on what consumer price index is and
how it’s useful and effective for the costumer.
Collaboration: I collaborated with Mike Kelly, and Mary Altamuro,
Presentation: My group and I presented our work and on keynote and the
presentation went well.
Reflection: I worked very hard on this benchmark and I feel as though it
was the most in compelling subject that we worked on.

Now jimmy’s only 20 years of age.
He has a dead end job with minimum wage.
He has a girlfriend that has to lay,
15 guys for 60 dollars a day.
He dropped out of school to be with his honey
Now they got a child and they're running out of money
Life is so very dangerous and so it seems
The only place he’s safe is in his dreams
So jimmy nods his head, brushes his teeth, turns out the lights and goes to sleep
Praying one day he'll find a place with no worry or any type of haste.
Next thing he knows, he’s riding on a tiger
His girls on his left, their daughter right beside her
They're riding through the jungle, strong and fast
They ride off a cliff but the fall don’t last.
Now they're riding in a jet, sitting first class
With hearts full of hope, and pockets full of cash.
Now hey land inside a active volcano
He asks her hand in marriage, she really cant say no
Next it’s the wedding small and bliss
Its finally time, he goes for the kiss
emotions run deep. the good guy finally wins
Its his first and last chance to repent for his sins
He holds her tight. their souls begin to blend
But nothing after that. the dream just ends....

ME... TIE ... DOUGHTY ... WALKER
On a rainy night a man and his dog arrived to a small village. They were looking for shelter,he didnt have money with him ,he couldn't rent a room from any of the people there."There's a cottage not far uphill but i must warn you its been said that a ghost haunts it" said a noble old man. The man didn't care he started walking away from the old man and couldn't hear what the old man kept saying.
When he reached the cottage he thought " what could possibly haunt this place"?he walked in dried off looked around ,there was wood at the corner of the room ,he started to make a fire in the fireplace, went to the kitchen ate and fed his dog.
He laid by the fireplace took out a book and started to read...it was midnight the fire went out ,as the man got up for more wood he could hear a voice from the chimney and it said: me tie doughty walker...and the mans'dog answered!:"linchy kinchy ,colly molly, dingo dingo" and two legs dropped from the chimney,The man was shocked he just stood there in fear (frozen).
The ghost said:"Me Tie Doughty Walker" ,his dog answered:"Linchy Kinchy ,Colly Molly, Dingo Dingo" the upper part of mans' body dropped, two arms dropped connecting itself together forming a human body. The man was digusted by the smell,he wanted to run but he couldn't help but stare and wonder what would happened next.
There it was a headless rotten corpse standing in the same room as the man and his dog.One last time the ghost said (but louder)"ME.. TIE ..DOUGHTY WALKER"and the man ran to his dog and try to hold his snout,so the dog wouldn't answer back, the man was too afraid to know what happened next...but the dog managed to say "LINCHY KINCHY ,COLLY MOLLY, DINGO DINGO" a head dropped but it didnt connect to the body ,it fell on the floor.
The man was releived , he grabbed a broom heading towards the head that was facing the other direction he poked it with the broom stick and nothing "oof" the man thought as he approached it without the broom he got down on the floor ready to touch it...the head... slowly... turns around and ....AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One day, a scorpion looked around at the mountain where he lived and decided that he wanted a change. So he set out on a journey through the forests and hills. He climbed over rocks and under vines and kept going until he reached a river.
The river was wide and swift, and the scorpion stopped to reconsider the situation. He couldn't see any way across. So he ran upriver and then checked downriver, all the while thinking that he might have to turn back.
Suddenly, he saw a frog sitting in the rushes by the bank of the stream on the other side of the river. He decided to ask the frog for help getting across the stream.
"Hellooo Mr. Frog!" called the scorpion across the water, "Would you be so kind as to give me a ride on your back across the river?"
"Well now, Mr. Scorpion! How do I know that if I try to help you, you wont try to kill me?" asked the frog hesitantly.
"Because," the scorpion replied, "If I try to kill you, then I would die too, for you see I cannot swim!"
Now this seemed to make sense to the frog. But he asked. "What about when I get close to the bank? You could still try to kill me and get back to the shore!"
"This is true," agreed the scorpion, "But then I wouldn't be able to get to the other side of the river!"
"Alright then...how do I know you wont just wait till we get to the other side and THEN kill me?" said the frog.
"Ahh...," crooned the scorpion, "Because you see, once you've taken me to the other side of this river, I will be so grateful for your help, that it would hardly be fair to reward you with death, now would it?!"
So the frog agreed to take the scorpion across the river. He swam over to the bank and settled himself near the mud to pick up his passenger. The scorpion crawled onto the frog's back, his sharp claws prickling into the frog's soft hide, and the frog slid into the river. The muddy water swirled around them, but the frog stayed near the surface so the scorpion would not drown. He kicked strongly through the first half of the stream, his flippers paddling wildly against the current.
Halfway across the river, the frog suddenly felt a sharp sting in his back and, out of the corner of his eye, saw the scorpion remove his stinger from the frog's back. A deadening numbness began to creep into his limbs.
"You fool!" croaked the frog, "Now we shall both die! Why on earth did you do that?"
The scorpion shrugged, and did a little jig on the drownings frog's back.
"I could not help myself. It is my nature."
Then they both sank into the muddy waters of the swiftly flowing river.
Self destruction - "Its my Nature", said the Scorpion...

Egypt & Kenya
My countries were Egypt and Kenya. Egypt is Sub Saharan Africa while the other, the middle east. Choosing my countries and Finding the information was the easiest part. I found multiple websites that had tons of information. The hardest part was putting the information in a presentable form. It was difficult to choose a way to represent the data and put it in a way that made it worth seeing. I would spend more time making it more presentable if i could. I wanted to do something extra but didnt have the time.

Alright! Today, we are introducing a new student to Lenten High.” Exclaimed Mr. Tomonaga. “Please welcome, Daichi Tatsuya.” At first, no one came into the room. But after a moments’ hesitation, a young boy, about the age of fifteen walked in. Standing at about 5’8, right under where his name was written on the board, was a young looking, light skinned boy sporting a ponytail with electrifying green eyes. He was wearing a sweater vest, sweat pants with cuffs at the bottom and American high-top sneakers. Everyone in the classroom became momentarily silent as Daichi waved awkwardly. After introductions were over, everyone continued to talk amongst each other and pay no attention to the New Kid. Daichi slowly began his short walk toward his desk. To him, that walk felt like; a hike through the jungle, a voyage on the sea, a long catwalk in which everyone and everything was just waiting for him to mess up. As Daichi finally found his seat, he didn’t notice the person watching him: Ramona Toru-Nakamura. Ramona’s seat was one spot to the left and two seats behind Daichi’s and she began to enjoy Daichi’s presence before she even spoke to him.

The Epitaph of Twilight
Unknown where the Cursed Wave was born...
After the stars doth cross the heavens...
The sky in the East doth darken.
And air doth fills with mourning.
From the chosen land beyond the forest,
A sign of the Wave comes.
Riding the Wave is: Skeith, the Shadow of Death,
to drown all that stands.
Mirage of Deceit, Innis,
Betray all with the flawed image,
and did aid the Wave.
And by the Power of Magus,
a drop from the Wave doth reach the heavens,
and creates a new Wave.
With the Wave, Fidchell,
the power to tell the dark future,
hope darkens, sadness and despair rule.
Gorre schemes when swallowed by the Cursed Wave.
Macha seduces with the sweet trap.
Wave reaches the Pinnacle, and escape none can.
Tarvos still remains with more cruelty to punish and destroy.
And with the turbulent destruction after the Wave.
Only a void remains.
From deep within the void arrives Corbenik.
Yet to return, the shadowed one.
Who quests for the Twilight Dragon
Rumbles the Dark Hearth,
And Helba, Queen of the Dark, has raised finally her army.
Apeiron, King of Light, beckons...
At the base of the rainbow they meet.
Against the abominable "Wave," together they fight.
Alba's lake boils.
Light's great tree doth fall.
Power - all now to droplets turned in the temple of Arche Koeln.
Returns to nothing, this world of shadowless ones.
Never to return, the shadowless one.
Who quests for the Twilight Dragon.
The wife buffeted by "waves" turns her back on the field.
The daughter that waited for the shadows repeated,
"For sure... For sure I can go home."
But the girl did not know...
The truth that waited at the end of the journey
The eternal mourning of her land.
In the place of the calamitous, only life was known.
After the circling stars
When the eastern dark void, the air full of despair
In the depths of the divided forest, in the land of Karma,
Riding fast on the path is Skeith
Bearing death's shadow, it eliminates all that seek to thwart it.
The Confusing Mirage, Innis
Deceives those that see it with illusions, rescues the waves
The wave soaring high, when its head is smashed,
A new wave will emerge
To become Magus's power.
When questioning the wave,
Hope's light will be lost when he speaks of the dark future of where
sorrow and resignation reign.
Using Fiddlehiem's Technique
When engulfed by the Waves of Calamity, Gorre will plan
The sweet snare of conciliation is Macha
The Waves, an exceeding maelstrom
Nothing can escape
When you think you have escaped, Tarvos exists
To destroy those with his exceeding cruelty
Upon violent requital, only to remain is the void, the vacant darkness
is the harbinger that Corbenik is to appear.

My 1st Song
Well, since this is my first blog post, this may come off as more of a journal entry than a story so just bear with me. yesterday was February 7th, a.k.a, Superbowl Sunday. Of corse there were parties to attend all over the city but i decided to go to one with my friends, the one being hosted by the girl ive had a crush on for a long time, but i'll get back to that. Yesterday was not a day completely full of fun that i wish it had been. A couple of days ago a dear friend of mine had fallen into a coma, and had not woken up since, and yesterday, he went completely brain dead and they ended up pulling the plug on him. It was a heart breaking moment to have another friend snatched away from me so quickly.

I chose my items based on how easy they were to compare to my life. Al ot of the items were easy enough to compare to my life but others were difficult and almost impossible. It was an easy, but time consuming process. The idea of it was easy, finding all of the items and writing about all of them became a time consuming task as the days went on though. i believe that my life would become more affected by the American Government. I plan to diverge myself as much as i can into politics because i want to know exactly whats going on when im voting or buying things from stores.
Final Lobbying assignment: keeping the drinking age the same
For
the final step of my blog post I decided to trace my steps for this project to
revisit and redesign my first blog post. I realized that the reason the congressman I was
trying to reach wouldn’t respond was most likely because I didn’t present my
information in a fashion that was both interesting and compelling, so I have
decided to “start again” and reconfigure this so I can make progress in a
different way.
My
idea is to convince the Politian’s to keep the minimal drinking age 21 and not
raise it as they had previously planned to. Although it may seem like a mute cause, its something I feel
is worth fighting for, and will once again establish my opinion on the matter.
Previously,
I had tried to get in touch with congress through emails. It was less than successful. I have decided that this time around I will
take a more direct approach by gaining the attention of my peers in a similar
age group and getting them to commit to the cause themselves. Alone, one can accomplish something but
together we can accomplish many more things.
James's bureaucratic Reflection
The bureaucratic "task" we selected was legally obtaining a gun license in the state of Pennsylvania. It is the process of going through the Gun Unit Personnel to obtain a license to rightfully own and operate a gun.
The first thing we did was research information on the process of obtaining a gun in different states and how they were different. Afterwards, we dived into the web to find out the exact process off getting a license.
The paper work to that I needed to fill out was quick and basic. it was more or less a page worth of questions about myself such as "have you ever been arrested, used drugs, drink often or been in a mental institution.
If i could have changed on think about the process, i would have changed the length it took. it seemed to not take enough time to get the license. Theres a lot of other information that could have been asked about such as does your family have a history with guns or such?
I feel the system needs to be be complicated so that everyone cant just get what they need. If everyone could just apply for such things it would make the system too easy to get around.
No raising the voting age
It’s almost time to begin to take action. I’ve gather the information and the motivation, now all that is left is to put the plan into motion to make sure they do not lower the drinking age too 25. After finding out a lot of information, I have come to the conclusion that the best way to reach the senate is through rallies and demonstrations. I chose this because I’ve seen other forms of gaining attention in action, such as petitions, phone calls and emails, and I know from personal experience that using such methods in this situation would only delay the process.
The 1st thing I plan to do is spread the word about my cause. There can’t be a rally if people don’t know what they’re rallying for. The second thing I need to do is draw the attention of the media. Although some people may disagree with this at first, any publicity is good Publicity. The next thing I would do is search for a good time and date to have the rally and where. There are many factors for this so I need to think carefully. Because my father knows Mayor Nutter, I might be able to get him to support me or help me in some manner when doing this for real. As time marches on the and the days for until this project insues, im growing more anxious for the day to arrive.

Why do we have opposable thumbs
For generations, humans have had the competitive edge over other species on this earth because of one amazing feature we have that other creatures don’t. Our opposable thumbs. We have these amazing appendages and we use them to do things most other creatures couldn’t even begin understand. For those of you who don’t know, “an opposable thumb is a physical adaptation. An adaptation is a feature that helps a plant or animal survive in its habitat. Adaptations can either be physical (a part of the body) or a behavior an organism has developed.” Thumbs have helped us with things we normally could never do. They let us hold things, make tools to work and work those tools. They even let us give thumbs up. They do so much for us that we sometimes even forget how important they are. Years of evolution have let us go this far with thumbs and they will not stop now.
