Carlos De Jesus Capstone

Posted by Carlos De Jesus in CTE Video 12 · Ugworji/Walker-Roberts · A & X Bands on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at 5:59 pm

For my capstone, I’m using my makeup account to show how you can grow on social media and how you can gain positive profit from such accounts. My makeup account first started on Instagram and it expanded to different places like Twitter and Tik Tok. I was able to achieve some of the goals that I wanted with my accounts which were to have them grow, get noticed by a makeup brand, and finally work with a brand and have a paid partnership. I grew my Instragam to over 1,00 followers, my Twitter to over 3,000 followers and my biggest following is on Tik Tok with 18,000 followers. With my different accounts, I was able to get noticed by a makeup company called Anastasia Beverly Hills. They saw my work with my accounts and wanted to support me so they sent free makeup from their company for almost a year. Later on, I was able to work with another brand called Drench Cosmetics and they offered me a paid partnership of $100 to promote one of their products. I wanted to do this project because I wanted to see how one could grow on social media and the positive aspects of it. I also wanted to show off my makeup online. I thought starting accounts on different platforms would maximize my chances of doing these things for my capstone.

Nickel

Posted by Carlos De Jesus in Art - Freshman · Hull · c2 Band on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 10:13 am
My element is Nickel, also knows as Ni, and the atomic number being 58.93. MY element was first found in Sweden by Axel Fredrik Cronstedt in 1751. The nickel it's mostly used to make objects, like keys, zippers, jewelry, pens, coins and many more. I got the idea for this image of drawing the nickel as demon by reading about the origin of the name it was given. Nickel comes from the word kupfernickel which means Devil's Copper and that gave me the idea of drawing this image. I went thru figuring out to make the nickel look evil and how to make it all look like a demon. If I did this again I would've added more detail onto the fire to make it look more like fire. I actually liked learning about the origin of the word "nickel". First I did some research then I was inspired by "Copper Demon" (original name) and decided to draw it and I loved the way the drawing came out because I'm the best artist.

My Stamp

Posted by Carlos De Jesus in Art - Freshman · Hull · c2 Band on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 6:34 pm
When I was first giving this assignment of creating a stamp that represent me I had thought of many different. In order to get my ideas straight I wrote words that described me the best like caring, "colorful" and many more. Now my stamp has two words representing it since the two words, that were nice and mean, just fit me. Sometimes I can a mean friend or one of the most caring when I know you need someone. I now needed a drawing that can represent those two things. Eventually I thought of the picture you see down below which is half the angel and demon and when I thought of it I just knew it was perfect. Since in our assignment we had to show negative and positive that's what I did when I finished drawing but I was having a problem. I was able to show positive space but I was not able to show negative space. I looked around me and saw how my other peers had done their artwork with the negative space making me able to know how to show negative space in my drawing. Afterward I cut the construction paper as best as I could and created the artwork you see down below. It's very important for you to be able to show that negative and positive space because when you contrast your art you bring out more feelings and catch viewer's eye with the you contrast it.

Negative and Positive Space-Carlos De Jesus

Posted by Carlos De Jesus in Art - Freshman · Hull · c2 Band on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 9:43 am
Negative and Positive is and art style that must artist use. The negative space is what focuses on the background while positive is the opposite and focus more on the picture. In the picture down below is my attempt at negative and positive space but a bit different. As you can see on the left side the orange is the negative space while on the right the orange is the positive space. Negative space, in my opinion at least, it's really important for an artist to see and understand because then the artist can know how to contrast their background with their main picture and that can just show make the art piece even better than before making it so that the drawing becomes enhance in a way

Printmaking-Carlos De Jesus

Posted by Carlos De Jesus in Art - Freshman · Hull · c2 Band on Friday, April 21, 2017 at 8:02 pm
Printmaking is something that has been around for a long time and will probably stay around for a while. It was first used around 500 BC-100 AD and it was used by Egyptians to print fabric. Now Printmaking is mostly a hobby taken by artist, or anyone really, to create pictures by printing them which is why it’s called printmaking. I really feel that printmaking is important because it’s a different type of art and people should be able to express their feeling thru different ways. Printmaking is just so amazing with it also being high quality and low price which is one good reason to which it became so revolutionary. This picture down below it’s a demonstration of printmaking. I noticed on this picture as well how well detailed it is and how they put effort into the little things on the hat. I wonder if the artist of this art drew the whole body would he keep that detail by like adding the skeletons shadow and all of that. Overall it’s amazing art made in an amazing way and I hope that printmaking continues to live on

New Tech Slide

Tech Slide

Throughout this project I learned the many new things about how to work on a slide/billboard. I learned to highlight important words to catch the viewer’s attention. To not have any pictures touching the edges of the slide.

I was able to get good feedback as well. I was told to have the background changed because I was almost like a picture so I just put as the Puerto Rican flag to make the background look better. I changed the placement of my quote and my picture as well. I always made my quote stand out more.

I had many thought to do for my slide. I went back and forth on I should do. At the end I ended up choosing, what I love the most about myself. And that is being the fact that I am Puerto Rican. I love being part of the Puerto Rican culture and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I first thought of putting my background as the Puerto Rican so that it would be obvious what I’m talking about. Then I had decided to add in my family. I took some pictures from my phone and added them onto my slide. I have my brothers, my stepmother and my grandpa. I also added in something that my grandma always made for me, Arroz con habichuela. And if you don’t know what that means, it means Rice with beans. Finally, I added in a quote that my grandma told me once I moved to the US. The quote is ¨I might be far away but I will always be close in your heart¨. Obviously, my grandma told me in spanish so I translated it for this slide. This is what I think show well about me because I really just love being a Puerto Rican
