1. What is your element? Name and atomic number

My element is Tungsten. The number is 74.

2. Tell the reader about your element, history, function/use and so on.

Tungsten was first discovered by two brothers name Juan Jose and Fausto Elhuyar when they were living in Swedin. Since tungsten is heavy, they named it tungsten because it means heavy stone in German. It was made out of minerals and tin.

3. How did you get the idea for the imagery you chose?

As I was doing research for tungsten, I came across diamonds because when diamonds were first discovered, it was heavy. So that’s when I started to draw diamond as my imagery.

4. What process did you go through to make this print?

There was a lot of process when doing this print. The first process was that drawing the diamond was hard because I have to make it perfectly semetrical. Then when it was time for printing, it was easy because there was no need to turn it backwards. While drawing it on the foam, the only thing that need to be backward was the number and the letter. While printing it, I evenly rolled the paint and then rolled it to the foam. After that, I layed a paper on top of it and then evenly rubbed it on to the paper. After that, your picture will be perfect.

5. What would you do differently if you did this print a second time?

I would try and draw another picture that is similar to tungsten

6. What part of the project did you enjoy the most? Describe the step and what you liked so much about it.

I’m Alina and this is my final blog post for You and the World project. In my first blog post I talked about why immigration is illegal and the pros and cons of immigration. Another thing is that I talked about what immigrants are struggling to do just to get in the United States. After that on my second blog post, I interviewed two of my friends who were immigrants. During my second blog post I asked them the same questions and both of them have two different answers as their experience of being an immigrant.If you want to take a look, here is Simon’s interview transcript and here is Sarah’s interview transcript. And now for my final blog post I did a Agent of Change at Science Leadership Academy.

What is an Agent of Change you might ask, well an Agent of Change is when you want to change that situation to a solution that will allow people to participate in. For my Agent of Change, I did a bake sale in school outside of the office. My bake sale was on June 6th during lunch. I did this fundraiser to help The National Immigration Service Directory so they can help immigrant have an affordable job to work at and to help immigrants come to America to have a better life style.

During my bake sale, my goal was to raise $50.00. But while selling doughnuts and cookies, I raised about $55.00. I exceeded my goal which was a good thing because the more the better. With this money, it could help immigrants live a better lifestyle in America then as they did back in their old country. Another thing is that with this money it could help immigrants not get deported back to their country.

Why did I do a bake sale you may ask? Well, a bake sale is easier than spending a lot of money doing a run or hosting an event. Doing a bake sale was really fun because you get to experience handling money and meeting new people.

My experience with the bake sale was very nervous because I was afraid that nobody will buy my baked goods but instead there was a lot of people who came and bought the baked goods. The best thing was that I get to donate the money to the National Immigration Service Directory.

Hi, I am Alina Seing ,and as you can see from my previous blog post  I talked about the situations that was happening to immigrants. Also during my first blog post I talked about the pros and cons about immigration and how immigration affect people’s lives and the work that they provide. This is very important because in my interview with Simon and Sarah, they talked about how their are an immigrant and how they came into the United States. Being an immigrant is very hard for them because they are transitioning from one country to another to find a better lifestyle and better education. In different countries the educations are different and money wages are different as well jobs. Many people who are a U.S citizen fear for the immigrants because they are afraid that the immigrants will destroy the economy. During Simon’s interview, I asked him about his experience of being an immigrant. Simon said that being an immigrant is hard because he was born and raised in France and coming to the United is hard because he don’t know how to speak english and people were making fun of him because he was speaking a different language. During Sarah’s interview, she had the least experience of being an immigrant because she came the the United States at the age of three. She said that her family came to the United States to have better education and more money. Another thing is that in Vietnam, there were a lot of poor people and there wasn’t a lot of education and schools for children to learn. She is a U.S citizen because her father is a U.S citizen. Hi my name is Alina Seing and for my English project, I will be researching about immigration. Immigration has been a big problem in our society and I think that it’s important to me too because I know many family members and friends who are immigrants that come from a different country to the United States. There are a lot of consequences for being an immigrant and there are a lot of dangerous things that could happen to them. One of the consequences of being an undocumented immigrant is that you get sent back to your country, you could never be able to see your family members again, and also get convicted of crime.

The reason why I chose immigration was because it is a big thing in our society. The reason why people come to America is because that want a better lifestyle. Their lifestyle is having to pay lower income tax, better jobs, equal payment as others, and being with family. Immigration is so important to them because it helps them learn new things such as the language that they speak and the way the society is. To be able to come to America, immigrants must have legal documents. If immigrants do not have any legal documents saying that they are allowed to come to the United States, then they are going to get sent back to the country that they came from or get sent to jail. I think it is important for immigrants to legally come to the United States because they want to have a new experience with society and a better opportunities. It is also important for immigrants to come to the United States because they want to be independant and find jobs that are secure enough for them to work in.

There are many problems with being an immigrant. If your are an immigrant, depending where you are at for example, Cubans come to the United States by train. They go through more than just bumpy roads, there are more than just a couple of families that want to immigrate so people fight for the room and sometimes people fall off from the trains to go to the destination they want to go. There are also a lot of people who need to go to bathroom and so they carry illnesses with them along with new ones. To come into the United States, you must have a green card, visa card, and a legal document. Once you have entered the United States, the first couple months are very isolated and unbalanced. The reason why it is unbalanced is because you must become an American Citizen to stay in the United States. If you don’t past your American Citizen test, you must retake it in the next year or you must get sent back to the country you are from or get arrested.

Immigrants are protesting to make immigration legal

Printmaking is an art that is designed by printing a picture to a paper, block, or plates. Printmaking is important because it attract creativity and corporate arts to other people. The invention of printmaking was revolutionary because it first started from the Chinese and then was inspired by the Europeans. This is so important because many people was inspired by it and they want to go try it as well. It was past from generation to generation and from countries to countries and soon it was world wide.

Orlando-

Las clases que y tenemos  son matemáticas, inglés, química, historia, drama, tecnología, e ingeniería. Me encanta ingeniería porque Nosotros le  gusta proyectos físicos. Necesitamos hacer experimentos para una nota,Nosotros necesito tomar notas con un montón de dibujos. En la clase de inglés nosotros hablamos ingles,sobre los libros que leemos . En la clase de bioquímica nosotros aprendormos cómo a hacer un proyecto. Nosotros tenemos buenas notas en la clases de ingles, bioquimica, historia, y ingenieria. Nosotros necesitamos buen enfoque.

Cuando llegas por primera vez a SLA, puede ser difícil. Una vez que te acostumbres con la escuela, es más fácil . Porque no tenemos uniformes. . En esta escuela tenemos que ser responsables. Me encanta la libertad que tenemos.  

Hello fellow classmates. I am here to tell you about how I made my slide. The first thing that I did on my slide is that I add pictures to my slide so it could describe the things that is on my Me Magazine. Another thing is that instead of providing details about my slide, I just add pictures so it could represent what I wrote on my Me Magazine for English class since the first week of school. The pictures that I put on my slides are soccers and friends. I did that because of my I have a passion for soccer and I really love my friends so I thought why not write about it. So now I made a slide that shows my passion for soccer and also explains how I really love my best friends. The background is bright blue because it stood out to me and it really cute too.
