Final Pictures

Posted by Anthony Carter in Art - Senior Art - Hull on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 2:23 pm
These are my final pictures for this course. The Picture from a famous artist wasn't exactly famous like art gallery famous. But he is famous in "media" because he draws all of anime. This particular one was from the anime Kenichi: the mightiest Disciple. Now I didn't finish and that was because i lost my picture trying to start my new one.

The Next three were for the bikes. I didn't really get that one so I just drew it I guess it was so I could understand the dimensions. of something that was just lines.

The last one I drew was one that I 4 got about It was of a structure that we could find. So i wanted to be different and I drew the "Batcave". Batman's secret hideout because it was different and I never tried it before. Now i thought for my first time that I did very well. But i do know that with more practice it could be better. If i getter a better grasp of depth they will all look better.

Belgium life at 12

Belgium
schools seem just like our schools when I was younger. You wake up your parents take you to school. You see your friends and you play activities all day to make it fun, but also to learn. You get new and creative games in gym class. They play duck duck goose at recess. They also get served lunch by their school. So them and us are pretty mush the same.

Spring pictures

Posted by Anthony Carter in Art - Senior Art - Hull on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 2:28 pm
These are pictures of Spring. The first picture is a picture of an artist named Henry Serra, I believe that is how you spell his name. The reason I say that this picture is spring is because you just grab the feel from it. You see people sitting lake/river side just relaxing. Some in the shade others in the sun. I mean you can just feel the spring peace from it. The picture that I got are also Spring related. Like the first of my Grandmother's flower you can see it budding and trying to come out. The second is of her yellow flower bushes which are sprouting into season, just like the sun would after a long winter. The third is from the side of the school on Arch st. The cherry blossom trees I think, but you can see that they are blossoming. Just looking beautiful, these are what i think help represent this pic from Henry Serra.

Solomon Islands and Haiti

The countries that I choose where the Solomon Islands and Haiti. They are kind of the same when it comes to the problem that they have. But the only difference is that Haiti may have a little bit more to lose. The reason being you'll find out if you look at the link. The process was not all to difficult thanks to my teacher telling to try out CIA fact book. it worked well till i had to get to the hostile neighbors and the society reaction to environmental problems. For some reason they were just the hardest to find. But I did realize that when I did research that i found our book the "collapse". The frame work for it was super super straight forward. I it was easy to do so I had fun with. But it was a bit difficult so it made me think of how to work. I enjoyed the project. I would say if I could change one thing about it, it would be to have some sort of link that would help fine the last 2 questions so a person would spend their time wasted.

Skulls and Vessles

The still life drawings were just like the others just having to keep looking at the object. Then draw what you see not with your memory. But I didn't get why we had to draw see through still life's. They were easy to do the I think I did pretty okay. Then Alexis helped me with giving the drawing definitions to make mt last drawing look more defined.

This one i believe was the easiest because I didn't have to put much detail into it. SO that means that i had less of a had time trying to pull it all together.

This is my second self portrait. It was a good picture i thought. I guess i like this more because of how it looks compared to my hands. But i think i could have done a lot better with my nose and a little better with the mouth.

I did a terrible job with these. To me my hands look like clay-mation on paper. So i tried doing them in different ways. Didn't work to my expectations. But draewing me kind of did. So i don't quite get what made my face easier to draw.

History Benchmark-LJE Branches

Posted by Anthony Carter in American Government - Laufenberg on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 7:42 am
The link above will take you to a google doc the describes what effects me personally from Laws, court cases, and offices from the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial branches. Choosing the item though was a bit of a challenge.  So what i did was ask my teacher for help in finding link the could help me. Also think about what thing I have to do now. Like Driving, College, Affirmative action plan so that was real bases on how i got them. It was a little bit because searching for them was no easy task. I do expect my life to get more difficult because their are more things i have to apply for. But also my things I will have to pay for.

Blog post 5

This a conversation that Leeann had with the event coordinator at the shelter we had looked up unfortunately it was to close to the deadline so we couldn't actually have the event but if we got more time we could try.

Hello, I'm not sure if you got my email but I'm going to send it to you again. My apologies for responding late but you said an volunteer opportunity was "If you have any connections at area grade schools or high schools, let us know; we are always trying to get into schools with our Humane Education Presentations." What does this mean or involve actually? I am asking because I attended Science Leadership Academy and many people here are vegetarian, and not to long a go in a history class was playing a move on how our food is produce and what they do to the animals. So, if you or any of your members of the Humane League would like to come and talk to our school that be grate. Just let me know. Have a blissful rest of the week.

Sincerely,
Leeann Nguyen. :]

It took Lydia until today to message me back on the topic. She was happy I followed up to make sure she got the email and responded with this email:
Leeann "Amethyst"
Hi Leanne,
Thanks for following up with me! I did indeed have miss  your earlier email so I appreciate  your reaching out again.
Our Humane Ed presentations   focus on the ethical issues of factory farming and its impact on animals, the environment and human health.  They are free and virtually always get great feedback from students. You can learn a bit more from clicking on the link above.
The most important information we would need from you is the name and contact information of a particular teacher who would be interested in devoting his or her classroom time to one of our presentations. Appropriate teachers might be biology teachers, ethics teachers, social sciences teachers, or perhaps in your case, the history teacher who showed the movie you described. If you can provide a name of someone who would be receptive to the idea of a presentation, let  me know and I will follow up from there.
If you need any more information or have other questions, contact me!
Thanks again,

Lydia

I'm thrilled she had messaged me back on this matter but a little disappointed in myself that it was to close to the due date to make this an event for people. If I had more time I would have liked Lydia to come in and talk to students that are interested in the topic as well and go and volunteer at an event with her. I should have followed up with my first email sooner then I did. I know that their are a lot of organization out there that deal with animal cruelty that I could also contacted for example PSACA, WSPA, and FoA. I reflect on this and am glad I had the chance to be in contact with Lydia and for her to give me information on what their organization does to help prevent animal cruelty and I wouldn't change my topic, I would just have wished I could have done more.

Art statement 2

For this project I selected to do superhero symbols. At first I didn’t know which one I wanted to do for my project. I tried doing superman that didn’t work out so well, I tried doing the Flash symbol and that was even worse. So generally I was have bad progress at first. So I thought why not try Batman’s because I used to do it a lot when I was a kid.

At first I thought why not go bigger by making a poster of Batman himself. That didn’t quiet work out like I had planned. The hero was not all to good so I decided against it. After that I went back to just doing the symbol. So to practice I Just did rows and rows of Batman symbols. Then I finally shot for the big one, which turned out pretty good.

I think for the next marking period ill try doing the actual hero. Since the period is so long I can work on how to make him. Pick up some ideas on the way on how to make it better. Practice a lot, and maybe a little copying practice so I can see how others draw him. That way the final project looks great.

We did the legal possession of firearms. And for the you first need the application. Fill out and be honest on it. Then hand it in with the fee of $25 and take the interview.

What we had to do was pick a topic so we choose the legal carrying of firearm. After that we looked up the specifications for possessing said firearm. Downloaded the application and signed it. then finally made the flow chart with all the specifications.

It was very straight for ward nothing was much of a hassle.

Nothing really i personally like how we did it and how it is set up.

It became this way so people with mental disorders, criminal records, and drug problems could not apply.

In the middle of this week I had sent an e-mail to The Humane League on December 8th and got a replied today (December 9th) and got really wonderful news on being volunteers to help notify the public on animal cruelty which was the issue of Aj and mine lobbying project.

Here the emails:

“Good Morning, My name is Leeann Nguyen and I am a student at Science Leadership Academy and I was wondering if you had any projects available for volunteers coming up? I know that this email is a little surprising because it came out of nowhere. I'll give you a little background to why I am asking, I’m a senior and I am taking an American Government class and as an assignment we have to do a lobbying project, I am lobbying about animal cruelty and I had came across The Humane League and saw that you are a project coordinator, and so I was wondering if it was possible to attend a project or a meeting? I’m really dedicated to this issues and hope that it is possible. Thank you for the time and consideration about this email and have an amazing day!

Sincerely,

Leeann Nguyen

Responses.

Hi Leeann,

“Thanks for reaching out to us! I have sent your email along to our volunteer coordinator, Lydia. She can help you learn about the different volunteer opportunities that we have. Lydia is CCed on this response.”

Take care,

Sally Andersen

Now this is Lydia

Dear Leeann,

“I coordinate volunteers for The Humane League of Philadelphia. Thanks so much for expressing interest in The Humane League. Below, I've listed our most common ongoing activities for which we need volunteers; perhaps one or more of them would be of interest to you for your assignment. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

(By the way, consider attending our upcoming Holiday Party this Sunday, December 12th! It would be a great opportunity for you to learn more about the Humane League and its work to help animals)”

Thanks again!

Lydia Chaudhry
Volunteer Coordinator, The Humane League of Philadelphia.

Amazing right! The projects that she had suggested to me was getting colleges, high schools and restaurants aware of vegetarianism, promoting vegetarianism of MYSPACE and the holiday party. So, as of now I am going to discuss with my partner in going to see them and actually get hands on with this issue. :]

We do not have any specific elected officials that support this cause. But their is a ton of public support from people who report it and the SPCA. For every animal in danger, there is a news story on it. The people who are pretty much opposed to this are thous who could care less about a animals life. The was an ACT made for animals it was the AWA (Animal welfare act). We need an official who will listen but also for the SPCA to try hard in the animals defence. The biggest allies we have in this are the SPCA who have been helping animals for a while now. We can coordinate with the SPCA to help us talk to officials so we get animals better treatment. Everyone has the potential to be influenced since this is such a big topic the easiest to influence would be people who are willing to listen or people who are already trying to protect animals from such cruelty.

No Animal should be treated like this.

We need to protect animals like this dog from being abused, this is what influence us to notify the public and volunteer to help care and fight from there freedom and their love. These animals want to be love and we want them to love us.
It difficult to volunteer under the age of 18 but we are determine to find a location. There are many locations that people can choose to help like Morris Animal Refugee, SPCA, PAWS, Pet-smart, and some many others. Their are a number of points in which we could try to rally people with us. For example we could  try “writing letters to the editor”. See what we mean is a person could write to a news firm and ask them to help spread the word. They might just put a post in the paper if a person bugs them to death with it they may even us this blog it self. But a person cloud also write straight to the top at the government and they could be nice enough to give what they are writing a chance and actually state it at a meeting. “Phones and Faxes to the top” are basically just like. And are even more alike the letters because their all doing the same thing. They are asking to get to someone who has the power to help them get their point across. Same with an e-mail they have the same point making plan just go straight to the top and evade all the boring parts like the waiting. “Personal visits with the targeted decision maker.” that help because person good straight to the head, state his case, make it convincing, and see what the head person thinks.

Art: Statement

The problem that we as a whole planet are having is bottle caps not being destroyed properly. So they get into the ocean where fish eat them and then what ever eats the fish also gets the plastic. Then that plastic gets into us so we’re kind of half plastic.

The art that I’m making out of these bottle caps is a castle. It will be a play set for my nephew.  I figured that since we cant get rid of the plastic for years on end I would do something with it. So I figured a kid plays with toys none stop so why not turn them into toys for now. That way they can be used for something that is useful. Not just through away and eaten by some sort of animal, which then we eat.

All I had to do was get a lay out for the bottle caps. So what I did first was make sketches. By doing that I figured out how I wanted to do my landscape for the castle first. Then I took a piece of cardboard and laid it down and drawled where I was going to place the caps.

Now I haven’t completely finished it yet but it’s a work in progress. I should have it fully done by Christmas. So it would make for a very nice Christmas present.

In perfect time, it’s also a good present because it help the earth and him.
