Benchmark #2 Pork-folio

Posted by Jun-Jie Zou in Bio-Chem 9 - Sherif - C on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 4:24 pm

Hi, I am Junjie Zou from the Science Leadership Academy. For this unit we had the opportunity to dissect fetal pigs and grasshoppers in our Biochemistry class. This presentation will show you the comparison between human to fetal pigs and grasshoppers. Please enjoy!

Cellular Respiration

Posted by Jamilah Woodards in Bio-Chem 9 - Sherif - C on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at 8:31 pm

Hello, My name is Jamilah Woodards. In my Bio-Chem class, we are currently learning about both Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration. My teammates Hanna Dunikan, Indee Phillpotts, and myself were assigned the group of Cellular Respiration. Click the link below to see the slide that was created by us all about Cellular Respiration.

Photosynthesis

Posted by Gabrielle Cromley in Bio-Chem 9 - Sherif - C on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at 7:11 pm

Hello. My name is Gabrielle Cromley. I collaborated with Kayla Cassumba, Toby Mast, and Kiamesso DiSilva on a presentation on the process of photosynthesis for my Bio-Chem class. Photosynthesis is the process by which sun energy, carbon dioxide, and water are converted into carbohydrates, oxygen, and sugars by plants algae and bacteria. Check out our prezi by clicking the link below!

Respiration - Table 1

Posted by Arianna Haven in Bio-Chem 9 - Sherif - C on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at 1:05 pm

Hi! My name is Arianna Haven, and this is my presentation about respiration. This project is for my 9th grade Bio-Chem class at Science Leadership Academy. Our job as a table was to create a presentation about either respiration or photosynthesis to be able to teach the class. My table group got respiration. We researched online and in text books all about respiration, and we created this. As a group we wanted to focus on/ learn about the start and end products of the respiration process. Because of our focus on this topic we learned that respiration starts with glucose and ends with ATP. Of course there are many other processes in between such as glycolysis, the electric transport train, and chemiosmosis. Although we learned so much as a group, I would change a few things. One of the things I would change is how we managed our time. I believe that if we planned out small “due-dates” for ourselves, we would have not been as stressed. However, all in all, I believe we did a great job, and were able to achieve our goal.

Below is a diagram from our presentation. However if you would like to view the whole presentation, CLICK HERE.

Respiration

Posted by Indee Phillpotts in Bio-Chem 9 - Sherif - C on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 9:44 pm

Hello! For this project my group was to focus on respiration.  We had to make a presentation that could be taught to our peers.  By the end of this project my group wanted to be able to explain a diagram of the process of respiration.  We also wanted to know how ATP is formed in more detail.  Something my group learned was about what happens during the major sections of respiration, like glycolysis and the Krb’s cycle. What my team would do differently next time is experiment with voice overs so that the diagrams on our presentation are much easier to understand.

Photosynthesis

Posted by Daouda Njie in Bio-Chem 9 - Sherif - C on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 10:18 am

In Bio-chem we have been learning about Photosynthesis and Respiration. Each team was assigned one and we made presentations on them. My team was assigned Photosynthesis. We started off with the vocabulary used in photosynthesis then we went into the process of light becoming energy for the plant. We learned that you need light, carbon dioxide, and water. Also that the light reactions take place the chloroplast. One thing though I think that my team could have done differently is that we could go more in to detail on the slides.

Photosynthesis Process

Posted by Jesse Stevens in Bio-Chem 9 - Sherif - C on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 9:46 am

We've been learning photosynthesis and respiration lately in Biochem 9. Our group did our project on photosynthesis and our group wanted to learn what was the process of photosynthesis. to start off we just wanted to cover all aspects of photosynthesis in depth but we thought that it would take less time to just learn about the process and go in depth on the key points. an important thing that we learned about photosynthesis was that not all parts of it doesn't have to be light dependent. also another important thing is that without photosynthesis we couldn't live. If my team could redo this we would work more efficiently and add a little more detail.

Ayanna, Ben, Luke, and Jesse Photosynthesis

Luke, Ben, Jesse, and Ayanna Photosynthesis (1)
Our project was to create a slideshow or a prezi describing the basics of photosynthesis or respiration. We had respiration and created a slideshow. I wanted to learn how photosynthesis works, but I wanted it to be simplified enough for me to understand. During the project, we learned that we needed font size consistency, as the font sizes were all mixed around in the slideshow. If we could do this all over again, I would make sure that the backgrounds for each size were all the same color, as most of them were black and gray, but two of them were pure black.
