What is your element? Name and atomic number
Tell the reader about your element, history, function/use and so on.
It’s the 2nd densest element, it’s very hard and brittle.Iridium was discovered in 1803, by English chemist Smithson Tennant in London. It’s used for things that withstand really high temperatures but also to tip pens and things like that.
How did you get the idea for the imagery you chose?
Iridium is sometimes used to tip pens! So I did the tip of an iridium calligraphy pen.
What process did you go through to make this print?
Designing, carving the block, inking, printing, drying, and then matting.
What would you do differently if you did this print a second time?
Definitely carve it on a real block! That’s all I’d change just to make multiple good prints without worrying about breakage.
What part of the project did you enjoy the most? Describe the step and what you liked so much about it.
I loved printing, I always wanted to try that and it was so cool to just peel back the block and have that print.
