What is printmaking/Why is printmaking important? - Noor Kreidie

Printmaking is a type of art that has been around for thousands of years, it is the process of using a stamp with a design on it and using that stamp to create duplicates of that design. The invention of Printmaking was something revolutionary because it let companies mass produce all type of things. It really changed the way we produce books, before the 16th century people had to hand write books, with the invention of printmaking now we can print out hundreds and hundreds in a time effective way. It has also made it so that we could have newspaper, magazines, billboards etc.

I found this print on google, this was advertising an event in LA for local LA artist. This print shows a swan flying away, there is a body of water on the lower part of the print, there is a sun in the back in the water there is a reflection from the sun. This print shows how different the lines you make in printmaking can be. This also shows the contrast of light and dark. This creates negative space with having the swan completely black. I think the  artist is trying to convey that there is always positively in life even when your life can be dark at times.  I really love this print you can really notice the use of textures in this print. I wonder what the artist was thinking about when making this print.  What If there were animals in this print would the whole print change.
